Yeah, AnyDVD removes any encryption contained on the DVD and just runs in the background. Just pop the disc into your DVD drive and run AnyDVD. When you see a little red fox in the corner of your taskbar, that means it's running. While running AnyDVD, you can still use DVD Shrink. AnyDVD can't rip the DVD. That's what DVD Shrink does. All AnyDVD does is remove any encryption found on the disc, which is a big help for DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink isn't being updated anymore, so it can't get past some of the newer encryptions. With AnyDVD running, you have a very good chance of getting DVDs to rip successfully.

Well thaqnks carmike, but as you can tell from my site I am not after a certain number of hits because I have no advertisments or anything. I just started that thing to help people here at AD is all and it grew into the monster it is now :-) I really am not sure how many hits I have for sure because everytime I update it the counter re-sets ?? Anyway as long as it helps out that is what it is intended for :-)

bbmayo and all that have answered.
Yes, all have helped to get me straight on what I spent $40.00 on. I really don't have a encrypted disk on hand at this time, but feel with the help you have offered it will work fine.
Do I just let the Fox icon in my task bar run all the time, even if I am not trying to rip a movie?
Thanks to all of you,
Bill

I only use AnyDVD when I need it. In the tray on the right I click off autostart and then click Exit. When I need it I just click the Fox on the desktop and it appears on the tray

Thanks to all for the replys.
Now can someone recommend some movies that contain a descrytion that Shrink cannot break. I subscribe to Netfix and would like to order the movie so I could try AnyDVD which I have installed.
Thanks

Hitch, Are We There Yet? and Lords of Dogtown all have encryptions on them that Shrink can't handle by itself, so you could give these a try.
By the way, Netflix is a great service. I use it myself.

AnyDVD has been updated to all who use it:
Quote: 2.9.5.2 Beta3 (10/06/2005)
- Change: Correct VOBU when removing "Sony ARccOS protection".
This should fix DVD Shrink error "Invalid data in file ...\VTS_02_4.VOB"
when opening files of "Lords of Dogtown" (US).
I am going thru and posting this on Lords of Dogtown threads in case ppl are still having problems, they can dl the latest update.

creager,
All you have to do is go to the companies website after you get the email alert that an update is there or better yet someone usually posts on the forum the update has appeared
