Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum, first thread posted, but will admit that i have found an enormous amount of valuable information on threads already posted. I was hoping that someone could help me out with a small problem I have. I find that after i use Decrypter for a movie, and then proceed to use DVD shrink, it will only accept DVD-R movies, if i put in a DVD + r movie it will not accept it. Is there a setting a need to change? How can i have it accept DVD + R movies? It usually accepts it no problem unless i have to use Decrypter first. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Alex

Thanks for the Welcome!

To be honest, i can't remember the msg exactly, but its something like wrong media, then it says media detected DVD + R, and needs media DVD - R, i get the message after it has went through the process and is ready to be burned on the disc, once i put the disc in i get that message, it also says to maybe change some settings, but i don't know what setting it is reffering to. Sorry i can not be more precise. And i appreciate the help

I use DVD Decrypter when I have problems burning with shrink, such as a cyclical error or something like that. Decrypter will usually clear that up for me. Then I use shrink afterwards. So I still have the problem of trying to use DVD+Rs after using decrypter.

The burner is an LG 16x Super Multi DVD/Cd rewriter. Im not sure of the model #. I have not had problems burning DVD+R before, its only after using Decrypter for some reason. If I don't use Decrypter i can burn using DVD+R no problem, with Nero or Shrink, or Clone DVD2. And i appreciate all the feedback so far. Thanks

Ozzy2k ,
The model # is really needed as it might be something as simple as a firmware update to get it to recog the blank media. I put in" LG 16x Super Multi DVD/Cd and there are alot of models w/ each having different firmware updates. We just do not want to give you the wrong info and then when you update the burner someting goes wrong and the burner is now toast.
Go to Device Manager and see what the model # is for the burner ( it states in My Device Manager what the brand and model # is). Check that and post back.

The Maxells are probably OK but dump the Memorex as they are usually crap

Hey again!!

So where would i locate the model #. I still have the box and stuff. But why would i need a firmware update if it burns DVD+R no problem?

Ozzy2k,
It looks like the burner or your burning program does not like those DVD'S. Firmware updates tell the burner how exactly to use and burn the blank media. If you have the box then the model# is on the box or as I told you it should be in Device Manager
When you use DVDDecrypter are you ripping the disk to the HD in File Mode( all of the disk) or are you ripping in .iso mode?

Go into Decrypter and use the Tools tab, drive and capabilities and get the info. Current for this drive is A306

Also, there is an option there to look for firmware updates for your burner.

You should be up to A306 in firmware. I also googled for that burner and you are not the only one having problems w/ it. Here is a site that will tell you what blank media people have tried and the problems they are having. Read the bottom for some of the peoples comments

Hello again. I check the info in Decrypter under tools for drive and capabilities. It shows that i'm running A302. Is there a way to update that?

And once again, thanks for the support guys!

Here is the site you will see your drive listed, dl the file and the open it and double click it should flash your drive, after completion then reboot. Remember flashing is always a risk, but if you do not do it the burner cannot recognize the newer media or burns speeds.

@mbchand

Or on a floppy, thumbdrive, zip drive, etc. Then take it to your computer and install it. I use USB jump drives for all of my downloading, and then take them home from work.

mbchand,
The site below has guides and you need to look at them ands then figure out which way you want to do it. You can use Nero if you like
