A movie that is under 120 minutes should not have to be shrunk to fit on to a DVD-R that is a 120 minutes correct. our should I still us the shrink program instead of the decrypter

It is not the minutes, it is the bytes. A 1 1/2 hour Disney movie is bigger usually than a 2 hr movies as the animation causes the size to increase because of the layering that is done w/ the frames

"How do I know if I am using DVD-5 Or DVD-9 "

You can tell by the DL...or the easiest is by the wallet. They cost more.

DVD-9 are dual layer and very expensive per disk.
DVD-5 are rated at 4.7gb and are what you mostly find at the stores.

@mbchand,
Just to add to whats been said on DL discs they are 8.5 GB capacity, and that comes in handy when you want to fit a long movie on a single disc with little or no compression. The price is coming down, but the cheapest i have been able to get Verb DLs at is 2 bucks each. That isn't bad considering what you can do with a DL disc, but much over that price, and they become too expensive to use all the time. Most DVD movies can be made to fit on a DVD5 with little or no compression if you only grab the movie. I have used 5 Verb DL discs and they are worth it in my opinion. Oh, and if you like burning fast, forget that when using DLs. I think they should be burnt at 2.4x. I burnt one at 4x by mistake, but it came out fine. I will stick with 2.4x for now.

Had no problem with this movie, there is no special protection on it. More than likely you have a bad disk, try cleaning it or take it back and get another original.

how about some guides that will show you how the programs work.

Also, just what movies are you trying to do, Shrink will not do newer protected movies. Are you getting errors? What version of Nero do you have as Shrink will not autoburn with the latest version you must have 6.6.0.18 or lower to have it autoburn.

Is Shrink backing up the disk to your computer, i.e is that file compressed? Read the guide on backing up using Shrink and then Decrypter to burn. If you are using Nero 7 it will not autoburn and that could be why it is shutting down. As stated try using Decrypter to burn and see if it works, Decrypter will only burn if the file has been compressed, otherwise it is more than likely too big.
