DVD's encode im MPG format. Just let recode do its thing. BTW the guy that wrote DVD Shrink is the author of Nero Recode. If you look at the GUI's of Shrink and Recode you might notice they look very similar.

Everyone keeps talking about Any Dvd. When I had it for the free trial period, it did work perfectly. Now is there a way I can download it free after the trial period is over?

Your options in Recode2 are the entire disk, the main movie and remake which lets you choose what you do not want and use start and end frames.

Both these methods work fine - just tried both

1. dvdfab decrypter , then vobblanker, dvd shrink
2. dvdfab decrypter , then vobblanker, Nero recode

only issue noticed was my 5 year old JVC XV-s502 seems to lock up when menu pressed , but a $39 Daytek DVD player that the kids use works fine.

This worked for me:

I had Any DVD running in the background,

Ran DVD Fab Decrypter to rip the files to the hard drive.

Then shrank and burned using Clone DVD 2.

Chopping out all the kids' games, previews and extra audio tracks but keeping most extras, I still managed around 75% quality.

Dvd Shrink didn't work for me. I kept getting a paging file error around 66%.

This could just be that you did not rip VIDEO_TS.VOB or that it did not rip correctly. Try ripping this file again or maybe also the IFO for it as well.

Also, I am reading that blanking out PGC 2, 3, 4, & 5 of VTS_08 after ripping with DVD Decrypter makes this movie work.

Ok when I tried using CloneDVD when it got to halfway done I got a "Cycle Redundancy error" so now I am trying DVDFab Decrypter to see what happens..this is such a pain in the butt..its pretty much impossible to even get this movie onto the hard drive

Not impossible, just a little harder than normal. Check out some of the posts higher up in this thread. Several people have found a way around this new protection. Also check out Jaguargod's post on how to get around it located here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980

Madagascar can be done using DVDFab Decrypter or AnyDVD the latest version. I have ripped it using AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter and then done the whole disk using CloneDVD and movie only using Nero Recode.

Don't get frustrated , 3 easy steps.
1. rip to HD with DVDFab Decrypter
2. process with vobblanker(leave everything at defaults)
3. shrink and burn with DVD Shrink

Everything works , menus and extras intact. I have ripped this twice already , wife runs a daycare and discs get trashed really fast.

Hey, I just used dvd decrypter, and then use Dvd Shrink VERSION 2.3,

not the latest version, this old version picked it up and then I

encoded (Just burnt the movie without all the other features and

crap so it didn't need to be compressed for dvd) and then burnt the

VOB files with CloneDVD2, works like a charm,
