An error in VTS_08_2.VOB means that the disc is scratched dirty or something else. If they put protection after the movie starts, then the DVD will not play on your DVD player. Make sure your disc is clean and scratch free. All these protections are found in VTS_xx_1.VOB.

Try this guide out:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734

It is based on my "Advanced guide" but minus the IFO Editing. For Madagascar, I would guess you should skip Cells 1, 2, 3, 4, & 26 in VTS_08. However, I do not have this movie, so I did not try it out.

However, those guides are meant for ARccOS movies. PGC 1 will certainly rip for this movie, but make sure you use VobBlanker to Blank out PGCs 2, 3, 4, & 5. Here is the link:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=580

This link may also help:

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078

Also please post your DVD Decrypter log when you try to rip in File Mode. I would like to take a look at it.

Also, let me see the PSL file that Decrypter makes. Choose "File=>Protected Sectors List...=>Export". Then open it with Notepad and post what it says here.

Simple :

Download & Install AnyDVD 5.5.5.1
Then DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 to Rip & Burn

Problem Solved!

Total Time approx. 16min.

x8 DVD-R

Anyone who says otherwise works for "Dreamworks"

Just finished backup of Madagascar.

Method used:

Rip with DVD Decrpyter using ISO Read mode

Open the resulting Disk Image in DVD Shrink

Let Shrink analyse the movie

Use Re-author to do main movie only - get rid of all unecessary languages/audio streams etc.

Burn the movie using Nero or similar - easy.

Fully working copy, with all the extra bits. Used DVD Decrypter (3.5.4.0) IN iso mode, then used shrink to shrink the ISO image, (look under file it says shrink iso image), then Nero to burn. Full copy of disc including everything, plays in a stand alone DVD player...tried numerous other things, this way worked no problems

Johnny77, try using 1 click dvd.
I just swithched to 1clickdvd. It is very fast and easy to use. I have been able to burn all the dvd's that I couldn't while I was using DVDXCOPY. 35 min tops. And I only use 1 dvd burner, so I have to save it to my hard drive first, and then burn from there.

I was having trouble backing up Madagascar, but I was reading the forum and decided to try using AnyDVD (which I always use), but I downloaded CloneDVD2 and it worked like a charm. Thanks everyone.

That is a highly opinionated comment there isn't it?

that is what I thought, but then again I do not know the credentials of the person making that statement. they could be a software developer. I am guessing that this is the program that they personaly choose to use, therefor to them it is the best. I have tried several, and they all have there good points and bad. None are worse than DVDXCOPY, in MY opinion.

There is no "best combo" as each person has different "tastes" in each possible method. Just like my "best combo" is DVD Decrypter, PcgEdit, VobBlanker, MenuShrink, DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and then ImgBurn or Nero. (All free too)

(I never said you didn't know what you were talking about.)

Exactly what I was thinking jmet. So what you are saying aabbccdd, is that you have used all of the different types of copying software? So it is your opinion that Any DVD is the best? Have you tried 1 click with DVD43? Can you provide any proof that AnyDVD is better, other than how many copies you say you have burned? The point is that there are many different copying softwares out there, and for one person to say that one is better than others is merely an opinion. Find one that you like and use it.

yeah anydvd is way better than dvd43 ,its updated more and does all the newer movies everyday all day 7 days a week ,dvd43 on the other hand doesnt update as quick which causes problems doing SOME of the newer movies .

1click is a pretty good program BUT CloneDVD 2 quality is still much better.

it doesnt matter to me what you use and if 1click and dvd43 works that great with CloneDVD 2 and anydvd i can do any movie in less than 25 minutes and BAM its done.

as far as proof read on the forum and you will see what MOST poeple prefer in here. and i think you will find out that anydvd is the way to go. as the old saying goes you get what you pay for, Peace

I think that DVD43 works as good as any I have tried. There is no chapter jump with DVD43 like there was with AnyDVD. And I am not a big fan of DVD Decrypter. What ever works for you I guess. But just because you see newbie next to my login, You shouldn't assume that I do not know any thing about copying DVD's. I have been copying movies ever since the invention of the dvd burner. I have over 4000 movies In my collection as well. The only thing I know for sure is that any thing is better then DVDXCOPY. Way to slow and to many bugs to deal with. I went to 1 click after trying Nero, DVD Shrink and decrypter. I have tried clone dvd, dvdxcopy. 1 click takes less of my time. Like you said 25 Min and I am done. I also like the fact that I can do other things at the same time as I am burning a movie. Scanning, Printing, surfing. With DVDXCOPY the computer was tied up for like 2 hours for each movie. And you couldn't do any thing while it was working.

thats really NOT a good idea ,while your in the burning mode you should NOT mulity task it can cause read errors on the finshed product ,so you may rethink that one

When I am burning, First I run enditall. Then as long as I am not using anything having to do with audio/video, there is no conflict. It has been working for a long time, and so far I have had no burn errors. Except when burning on a damaged dvd.

Madagascar is not Sony's ARccOS, it's RipGuard Protection by Dreamworks. Here is what works for me backing up MADAGASCAR.

1) Rip the movie using DVD Decrypter via File Mode (save log for future reference if you're going the PSL route)

2) open up PgcEdit, browse and load your ripped VIDEO_TS folder from DVD Decrypter

3) click on Plugins, PSL2 [ARccOS], Find Protected Titles

4) open up VobBlanker, browse to your "input = source" and "output = destination"

5) click/highlight VTS_8_VOB and highlight PGC or TTN entry 2 - 5 then Blank them and click on PROCESS.

That's it... sit and wait until it's done. Now you can encode/compress it with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and burn them at your desire burning engine.

Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!

What do you mean it doesn't help? Just follow what I wrote above and I guarantee you'll have a successful full disc backup. I tested and successfully burned it on a single layer (DVD5) Verbatim DVD+R disc flawlessly - it plays beautifully.

alkohol - I'm afraid people want in done for them these days or they want it so easy all they have to do is open a program and click 1 button. I know the feeling when you create a guide with screen shots and someone comes back and says "now that really doesn't help me".

@jmet

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean bro. I guess some newbies (members) just don't like the extra steps. However, I prefer it much more than the one click ripping and burning at the same time.

@ dysart47, I still occasionally use my X-copy, I did over 600 good burns with it. Never took more than 45mins from start to finish! What's up with your system?

CloneDVD & AnyDvd are an excellent combo, well rated by COUNTLESS memberes here.

DVD43 is too buggy & CAN cause conflicts with AnyDvd. AnyDvd is FAR superior, it is updated regularly & has better features than DVD43.

Then again what do I or anyone else here know? I have no computer credentials... What credentials do you need before you will listen to what someone will say? Tell you what, just ignore what I & others have said. It would appear that helping certain people is an exercise in futility.

Why do we bother if we are going top be shot down in flames & our knowledge is questioned?

I am very confused (& opinionated for that matter), then again I know nothing.......

@ aabbccdd, I believe you....
