If the files on your hard drive are from a "bad" rip, you will need the DVD again.

I'm fairly new to this but I have a suggestion. Use Nero to burn. When burning Nero It sets the Booktype to DVD-ROM so it plays on almost all stand alone DVD players. That is just a suggestion.

Here's where I'm at in this whole Madagascar fiasco. I first tried DVD Shrink with AnyDVD and got no where quick. I then tried to use DVD Decrypter and when I was 93% complete I got this error message.

Brute Force Cracking Failed!

Device: Blah, Blah, Blah
File Name: VTS_16_1.VOB
Reason: There were no vulnerable blocks.

Help!!! What now???

Go here:

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078

This is the guide written by Cynthia, which also has the plugin you need. It covers everything about the PSL files and even includes a sample to work with.

@jdk5197 & oxicotten

It's good and useful to have PgcEdit for future ripping, especially for any Sony new release and with the help from DVD Decrypter, PgcEdit, PSL and VobBlanker (yes... they're all FREE). If you have them, you don't necessary need to buy AnyDVD.

Here's what you guys need to do:

1) after you've extracted PgcEdit into your (C:\program files\PgcEdit)

2) now go inside PgcEdit and "make a new folder" name: Plugins -- now it should read like this: c:\program files\PgcEdit\Plugins

3) now go to your PSL2_plugin_ver_1.16zip file (that you download) and cut or copy both psl2_plugin.tcl and FixVTS.exe then drop/paste it into your Plugins folder that's inside "PcgEdit"

4) now your Plugins folder from PgcEdit should have them.

Here is what it said on the "Note Pad" on the installation for plugins from PSL2_plugins zip file:

2) Extract the psl2_plugin archive to the plugins directory created by PgcEdit
(ie. in "C:\Program files\PgcEdit\plugins\") You must copy at least the files
"psl2_plugin.tcl" and "FixVTS.exe". (Do NOT create a subfolder within the
plugins folder!)
Alternatively, you may put FixVTS.exe in the PgcEdit installation folder, or in
the "bin" folder, but the psl2_plugin.tcl file MUST be in the plugins folder.

3) Launch PgcEdit. A new "plugins" menu, with a "PSL2 (ARccOS)" submenu will
be automatically added by PgcEdit.

ATTN: Newbies,

The below guide steps is for MADAGASCAR, and or if you don't have AnyDVD only. However, I recommend you to keep PgcEdit, PSL2 plugins and VobBlanker for future dvd rips and editing.

I guarantee you that the below steps will work and you'll have fully working MADAGASCAR (full disc) backup in no time. Again, here are the simple steps.

1) Rip the movie using DVD Decrypter via File Mode (save log for future reference if you're going the PSL route)

2) open up PgcEdit, browse and load your ripped VIDEO_TS folder from DVD Decrypter earlier.

3) click on Plugins, PSL2 [ARccOS], Find Protected Titles

4) open up VobBlanker, browse to your "input = source" and "output = destination"

5) click/highlight VTS_8_VOB and highlight PGC or TTN entry 2 - 5 then Blank them and click on PROCESS.

That's it... sit back, relax, go smoke and wait until VobBlanker completed. Now you can "encode/compress" your newly created New_MADAGASCAR, VIDEO_TS folder with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and burn this baby at your desire burning engine.

Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!

hi all..im a noob to this site..so pls bear w/me..ive read all the instructions and advices to this madagascar ripping..ive even dwnld'd the programs suggested. but my particular problem is on VOB 8 i get absolutely no audio..in fact thats where DVD Decrypter has its issues..i have no audio whatsoever in my ripping madagascar. ive used pgcedit as it fails at the same VOB #8 and i allow it to continue but it fails. i open up vobblanker and it fails to read my .ifo file as well..soo does anyone have any suggestions for crackin some sort of audio lock on madagascar..o btw ive also have my decrypter set in settings as others here have suggested with (chk for structure protetion/elby cdio elaborate bytes)..decrypter will rip the whole flick, but when i use another program to play or continue the ripping process..it just seems to fail at VOB 8..as im thinking this is the wretched lockin file..lol..im not totaly a noob at ripping as im used to dvdshrink & DVD Decrypter & auto gordian knot..so any and all suggestions ill b grateful for..thnx and ty for having this forum as i was referred to this place from another person..

If you did it right, you shouldn't have any audio issues. Meaning if you ripped the movie (MADAGASCAR) using DVD Decrypter via File Mode, you shouldn't have any problem at all.
Quote:
in fact thats where DVD Decrypter has its issues..i have no audio whatsoever in my ripping madagascar.
Again, look at above reply. I ripped Madagascar with DVD Decrypter using File Mode and it ripped flawlessly into my hard drive. Honestly, I don't know how did you come up/end up with no audio.

Seriously, I don't know why you're having trouble with PgcEdit and VobBlanker. If you followed the steps carefully, I guarantee that you'll have a successful backup in less than 15 minutes. Then just encode it with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 as your usual encoding process.
Quote:
soo does anyone have any suggestions for crackin some sort of audio lock on madagascar..
There shouldn't be any audio locked on Madagascar whatsoever.
Quote:
o btw ive also have my decrypter set in settings as others here have suggested with (chk for structure protetion/elby cdio elaborate bytes)
This method is for AnyDVD to crack the encrypted protection codes or bad sectors only. If you don't have AnyDVD then it's useless. However, I strongly deem that DVD Decrypter can ripped into your hard drive, but you will still VobBlanker to "blank out" or delete the bad sectors and or Ripguard protections.
Quote:
..decrypter will rip the whole flick, but when i use another program to play or continue the ripping process..it just seems to fail at VOB 8..as im thinking this is the wretched lockin file..lol..
Are you talking about something like VTS_8_*.VOB? That is because the bad sectors or protections was inserted into that VTS_8 section. Therefore, you'll need VobBlanker to "blank out/delete" PGC 2, PGC 3, PGC 4 and PGC 5.

If my little guide is too hard, then try the below steps for a different alternative:

((NOTE: in prior to ?decrypt or rip? the original movie, take a few seconds to check the few following ?settings? on DVD Decrypter.))

** open up DVD Decrypter, go to Tools, and Settings
** at General ?Removal Method? arrow down to ?Aggressive?
** at I/O check ?Ignore Read Errors?
** at CSS check ?Brute Force --> I/O key exchange, On Failure: use key from another file [YES]
** at ISO Write Mode, check ?Enable BURN-Proof
** at ?ISO Read Mode? and ?File Mode? check/tick on all of the Remove, Ignore, Patch and Create MDS file

1) now put original dvd inside DVD burner or DVD-Rom drive

2) set your "source" <---- where the original dvd is located

3) set your "destination" <--- browse to your hard drive

4) now go to MODE, ISO, Read R

5) click "DECRYPT" -- now sit back, relax and wait until DVD Decrypter successfully completed.

6) open up DVD Shrink, click on File, and Open Disc Images

7) take out any unwanted stuff like audio, subtitles and extras

8) back it up as your usual DVD Shrink process

9A) sit back, relax and wait until DVD Shrink completed the encoding and it will burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter once it's done.

9B) *NOTE: make sure you set your Target to burn with either Nero or Create ISO Image and burn with DVD Decrypter, or you can put it in your hard drive and burn this baby at your desire burning egine.

Enjoyed it and happy burning...!!!

ok read ur response back to me and ty for replying..as i said numerious times in my mssg im having issues getting audio in my ripping methods..i use AnyDVD every time i use either dvd decrypter/dvdshrink/autogordianknot. ive even just removed it and reapplyed it again..thinking it was codec issues ive even updated those as well. as far as pgcedit i did exactly verbatim as the prior mssgs said to do and it doesnt recgonize my video_ts folder let alone vobblank didnt work as well. my ripped vts files are there in the destination folder but these programs just aren't seeing them..ive removed them and reinstalled thinking possible corrupted dwnlds versions of them..no go..im now tryin the suggestion you made on the DVD Decrypter image then ill see if my dvdshrink will work with that. this is my first and only time ive ever had an issue ripping a dvd. so ive been willing to try any & all new programs that have been suggested. even the psl didnt work..so really why youre having a problem comprehending a person having a hard time is beyond me. it is possible for not all dvds to allow an easy go at it. case in point. im just trying to back up this darn dvd so my son can ruin this disk vs the original..lol..but i do very much appreciate your information as im giving this route a go now.. brownie
