yeh you have to be very careful about that cable when lifting the original cover off.

if you go by this tutorial it says that in there or you will rip it :(

Ya that almost happened to me, thats the only tricky part about the whole process, that and how my ps2 is so old that sometimes it takes up to 20 tries to get the backup to load, because teh laser eye is so screwed ><

BTW how do i UNSUBSCRIBE to a forum?

it used to take me many tries to get backups to boot before i realised i wasnt getting the disc in exactly right.

I thought that it had to do with the amount of time you took to get it in and hit X. I soon learned that you could let that screen sit for 20min and still boot a disc.

I wasn't getting the disc completely down, it kinda would get hung up around the edges of the ps2. Now I take my time and a good trick i use is to simply spin the disc to make sure its all the way down. It wont spin if its hung up on a edge :)

at work for cd players and dvd players we just use a q-tip and some iso. alcohol.

Nice to have some canned air around to dry it real good then.

I would assume this is the same for PS2, but dont take my word for it. any other suggestions?

That ribbon is a pain in the butt. I don't use a fliptop I just keep the cover off and once I had it standing up on its side. Then it fell and the ribbon got ripped out (ironically this was about 2 minutes after I burnt my first ever successful ps2 game). So then I spent an hour trying to get it the ribbon back in (I thought I had broken my ps2 in attempting to fix the ribbon). Once I got it back in I just kept the ribbon disconnected from the cover so it wouldn't ever happen again.

i'm just curious.

does a flip top cause permanent modification to the console? for example, will it do something to the eject tray?

or can 1 revert back to my original ps2 by simply replacing the flip top with the original cover?

pink means the disk is not all the way in...make sure it can spin before closing the cover and pressing x

if you try it a few times and it spins and still doesnt work it is a bad burn or rip.

lol no problem man.

if your talking about movies in you question, any movie that would have worked before the flip top install will work. Most dvd movies work. Ive heard of a few that dont, or that have some problems
