well, talk about a stiff thumb right in the a$$ as i opened the box to find the flip top but no swap magic disks. i emailed them and they replied pretty quick saying they are checkin their records. i went through http://www.madchip.com/ cause they use paypal, so hopefully if they try and shank me i can call my credit card company and get my 40 bucks back. needless to say, the situtation sucks cause now i'm staring at the ps2 with the flip top on it but no swap disks, and now i still gotta wait regardless.

Man that sucks. They should take care of it though.

As a pretty strong community, we can always help you out. If they screw you over, I can get a short petition and have everyone sign it and send it to them. Saying something like we would never order from them again, and anyone we know or comes to our site, we would be sure to tell them NOT to do business with you.

Should take care of the problem. :)

we already have a running list of what wont wrok with a fliptop around here somewhere, the cdloader disc boots them as long as you dont have a V7 PS2.

another game that won't work with flip cover.

Silent Hill 3

of course mine is v4 and i have cd-loader so it works on mine but it's annoying as hell to swap the disc 3 times(swap magic cd -> cd loader -> swap magic dvd -> game)

when the heck will this swap magic 3 or zoneloader come out? most of game that are released from big company now has double protection on the game. =(

zoneloader could come out by christmas and if it doesn't it might not even come out at all. if you don't like swapping than save some money and let a professional install a modchip for you.

Okay, after lurking for a while I've come to the following conclusions.

I don't want to solder. I have a v4 box. I'm not worried about the burning part of the process, I'm pretty familiar with how that works. As for the PS2 itself, my options are:

Swap Magic v2 and Flip Top
Swap Magic v2 and No-Solder Mod
Gameshark and (??)

Based on what I have seen this list is in order from BEST to LEAST. I'm about to submit my order for Swap Magic v2 and Flip Top and want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Great thread everyone I actually read the whole thing!

This has been bothering me for a little while now. Does anyone know how to make sure games can play online with the back up disc? Dills... maybe you could tell me how you back up your discs because you know how to play online. I'm looking at the NCAA FootBall 2004 boot screen and it says Authenticating DNAS.... and then it pops up with DNAS Error (-402) a PS2 disk information error has occurred. I have backed up the NCAA Football 2004 for ps2 but it doesn't allow you to play Online with it. I've realized even with NBA 2k3 it doesn't allow you to play online but it allows you to go to lobby online. It's almost like it checks to see if you have a ps2 disc again and then realizes you don't have one. Anyone know a patch or proper way to have this burned. Thanks.

nope you can't play backup games online for the new releases. you just have to use the original disc.

Dills said that he has been able to play 20-30 backed up games online. Also a couple of other users have said they can play online with there backed up games. One even mentioned he could use it with NCAA 2004 the same one I'm having trouble with.

I have backed up that many but not that many online. There are hardly 20-30 games out that have online capabilities.

I have from day one been able to play twisted metal black online....madden 2003 online...maybe a few others.

New games are putting this code on the dvd that dvd burners can not even reach to copy, and therefore, when you back them up, it doesnt have that code and it will not let you play online.

I will just buy madden, back it up, and use the backup primarily and just put the original when i want to play online. I also hear you can play with the back up and when you want to go online and you get that error, you can put the orginal back in and it works.

Untill there is some kinda patch for that protection....theres nothing we can do, and i doubt they will have a patch for that. Would be very hard if even possible.

ok, so i got an email this morning saying my swap disks are on their way. so hopefully this time they will actually be IN the box when i open it. on a brighter note, i did successfully backup 2 of my games; mortal kombat DA, and max payne. i booted with the originals and then swaped them with the backups and they both ran smoothly through multiple loadings. alls i used was my hp300e, fuji dvd+r, DVD Decrypter, and my v5ps2 w/fliptop. just read the iso then write the iso, couldn't have been simpler.

I just have a couple of questions about the fliptop. I have a ps2 version 7. First off, will the swap discs work with my version 7? Second, what is the max size of CD that my ps2 will read while using the flip top and swap discs? Should I be using 650mb CD's or are 700mb CD's alright? Third, what is the perfered brand(s) of CDR to use? I know blue bottom works best, but which brands have a blue bottom?

Thank you for your help

yeah.. flip top works on ps2 v7 too. you just won't be able to play double protected games like silent hill 3, splinter cell, clock tower 3, soul calibur 2, etc.. but it will work on other games that are not double protected. as for cd, i burnt marvel vs. capcom 2 on 700mb cd-r and it works fine on ps2. =p

hey guys, first time posting here, my Flip Top has been working...but i just made a backup of my SILENT HILL 3...and it gets stuck on the silent hill logo! Is it because this game is "Double check" protected? Do i need to get CD loader to get this game to work? My PS2 is NOT a version 7 PS2 so it SHOULDNT have this problem?? Dill have you gotten this game to work? I did a DVD copy 1to1 using our SONY DVD burner and Nero! ANy help would be nice guys, thanks.

Silent Hill 3 requires the cd loader disc if you have a flip-top/slide-card/no solder chip.

I haven't tried it with a backup copy. Do you add a modchip with your fliptop because if you did it might not work. I would recommend to take off the modchip on your ps2 if you have a flip top installed.
