Hi , I want to buy a flip top because I just damaged my PS2 with a slide card!! I se mixed reviews on flip tops but everyone on this thread loves them. Can you please tell me which model flip tops you are using successfully so I don't waste my money on a bad one.. Many Thanks Mike.. PS If any one has any idea how to fix damage done by a slide card that info would be greatly appreciated also. The Ps2 plays all original games but will no longer load my swap discs. I hear a bad whirring noise now when I use my slide card. Mike

Hi guys I just tried to put in a Japanese import ps2 game and used my ps2 fliptop in conjunction with my swap discs...and it didnt work...seems weird that the dvd swap disc didnt work so I tried the cd v 3.2 and popped it in and the screen went red...but then after that the screen went to black and nothing came on after that...so I was wondering if anyone tried playing import games from japan using swap magic discs? I cant seem to get it to work...

Hi there.. i have a terrible problem..
I have a PS2 with the game shark modchip on it.. recently i buyed a flip-top cover with the SMD discs (Cd v3.2 and DVD 2.0), well i installed, but here is the problem:
When i put swap cd, sometimes
the "navigation/configuration" screen appears, sometimes a bright yellow circle screen with "playstation2 cd" on the top and "continue O Back X" on the bottom...sometimes the "load program/video.." when this last screen appears i supossed to switch the cds, i did it but a red border is shown...my cds (CD-R) works fine with the game shark cd as boot disc but not with the swap... I tried the swap cd on another ps2 and there the "load program/video" screen appears all the time
With the swap dvd, sometimes the "navigation/config" screen appears or the same bright yellow circle screen but woth "playstation2 dvd" on the top and the same ont the botton.. I already try this swap dvd on another ps2 and there the "insert disc" screen appears ALL THE TIME.. Which means that both swap cd and dvd are OK.. the problem must be my PS2, i dont know what to do =( help me people

Hi,
I have a V1 PS2 and i recently bought a PS2 FlipTop Cover but apparently it's for V4-9 PS2s. It doesn't fit my PS2 because there is an extra piece on the back.
Where can I get a FlipTop Cover that will fit my V1 PS2?
Thanks

a good mod chip hands down is the best but if your not skilled with sodar then flip top is the easiest way to go. It's not hard on your system so long as you don't screw it down too tightly.

i just bought a flip top and i have a couple questions. IS it hard on your playstation to keep taking a boot disc in and out of it (will it wear it down). do most games fit on a cd-r or do i have to split the games. Do you know how to split the games. What is better Nero or decrypter. Last but not least, is it worth it to buy it. Sorry for all the questions.
thanks

yes, you can store backup to your Harddirve, using the fliptop case, HD loader. Don't need SMD. I think you need to reset the ps2 everytime to install each game.

no, you don't have to restart everytime to install games, just to play them.

I noticed some games that are small in size are burned to DVD-9 discs. Xenosaga 1 is dvd9 may not work right if put on smaller dvd.

This topic seems to get more responses than mine so I guess I'll ask here. I have the same question as ace_mcfly, most of the flip tops I see are the 8 screw version for the v4-9 PS2's. SO would the 10 screw version flip top fit a v1 or 2 PS2 or is there another version that does?

maybe (probably not), but, i'd just buy a premodded ps2 with a real mod chip like matrix infinity or dms4.
