The H20 isn't the greatest chip. What's the media code on those TDK discs? There are fakes of those all over. To check the media code, open DVD Decrypter, put in your disc, and check what it says under Manufacturer ID. Check it against what you see here:

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):

There's your prob right there, CMC Mag Garbage media. Get some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatims from http://www.supermediastore.com CMC Magnetics media is horrible. Check the links I posted already. If you read them, you'll see for yourself.

I'm going to have to slightly disagree with you Hursty on the media aspect. CMC Mag Media is shite. The Nero CD/DVD Speed quality scores run from 0 to 13 in all the scans I've run and seen posted on AD. He might get by with it for now, but in the long run it'll wear down the PS2 laser with those cheap arse dyes, his backups will stop working, or some game he really want's to play won't boot. I know you know all that. Just a friendly reminder. And stop going over your photobucket bandwidth limitations lol. Happy New Years!

did i say they were good??????.......hehehe

i said they might be ok....better than nothing

and what were you doing with cmc disk's in the first place?,for you to check them?...hehehe,....your mistake for buying them eh?

i wouldnt recommend cmc myself, but i did make the mistake some time ago,and bought some
and believe it or not, they still work..must be about 2 years old at least.
the dye tends to fade on them, but if you keep them in there protective covers away from sunlight, some of them hold up pretty well, afterall they are the most common type of disk's you will ever see,and some peeps are still buying them,(fool's)......:)

@ohmybad,get some more disk's,but dont bin the cmc's,use them sparely, maybe for games you wont play much,or for crap movies you will never watch

hehehe
kind regards,and happy new year

hursty

Yeah I bought them by mistake the first time I burned PS2 backups. I quickly learned the error of my ways and copied them all to Taiyo Yuden's. The CMC discs may be fit for the new 50 cent game or Mr and Mrs. Smith movie, and any other God awful crap you don't care about, but that's about it. Rest assured if Satan burns DVD's, they're CMC Mag media lol. Anyways Cheers.

@MNA

You need to rebuild "50CENT BULLETPROOF", it's 5.95GB after you ripped with DVD Decrypter into the hard drive. Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/275350 -- I've made an easy guide on how to rebuild 50CENT.

PATH OF NEO doesn't need to rebuild, it's only 4.37GB. However, if you want to rebuild, then of course you can always do it too.

Hmmmm.... whatever works for you, mate. If it didn't freeze or hang-up on you, then more power to you man, since you didn't rebuild it. But then again, 50CENT is 5.95GB (just so you know).

@Ohmybad Did your mod guy install a laser fix with your chip? Any v.12 that's modded will need a laser fix. If you have the money and the interest, you can pick a premodded with a DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity v.14 or 15 PS2. You'll find them for $250 and up from reputable sites.

26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223 In addition modchip.com and norcalmods.com are supposed to be reliable.

Hello all-

I used DVD Decrypter to to make an image of Spartan - Total Warrior

Steps I took to make Image:

1. Open DVD Decrypter
2. ISO- Read
3. Put PS2 game (DVD) in DVD burner drive.........it read the disk
4. Then selected folder on Hard Drive for destination.........
5. Once it was done with making ISO image, I clicked ISO - Write
and selected My DVD burner drive.
6. DVD Decrypter says back up is sucessful.
7. Used Swap Magic 3.3 with flip top to HOPEFULLY play this game....

8. Nothing happens...........

Is there something I can do to make this work. I looked at the list of working DVDs and it had Spartan- Total Warrior on there.

PLEASE ADVISE

thanks,

Patrick

@ shano what kind of media are you using, what's the Media ID?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

@ exxitar External Mod? Do you mean you're playing the game off a HD? You need to give more info than that.
