So sorry Miss.
Will i get detention? (hope I spelt that right)
Anyway, relising that some of us here are dyslectic and Albert Einstein was also dyslectic but taken very seriously I would think before you type.
Of course PC's will always be better than console's, they can be upgraded al the time and cost 3-4x as much. Also consoles are designed as a media peice like your DVD player. A simple easy way to play games. So again think before you type.

kookoo you are weird now. sure pc's are good all around but not many people have the cash to have an up to date computer now do they?
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I'm wierd? Well then what in the world are you?
If people learn to save money, they can afford a PC
Just how people can save money to buy a ps3.
It takes a little more time.
U fanboy.

The point thats trying to be made is to get a pc with equivalent power to 360/ps3 you would have to spend a lot more money. Because of the money saved from not buying a p.c you could by a nice lcd HD t.v and surround sound with maybe money to spare. You could make one aewsome games setup with the type of money you spend on a top of the range p.c.
Also you have to remember, p.c's are very flexible when it comes to adjustments/modifications, they can do many things, but in the same way there is just as many things that can go wrong with them. Consoles are simple, cheap (compared with equivalent p.c) and add to a better gaming experience. Thats why I use my old p.c for work apps mostly (except strategy games, I think strategies are best played on p.c) and get a console for gaming.

I seriously doubt that, is there special cicumstances that mean u can get componants real cheap? Besides I don't think you can get a p.c powerfull enough yet (unless you spend ridiculous amounts of money and excluding the computers they use in animated films) to compete with 360/ps3. I haven't been following p.c's lately but Ime pretty sure of it, they haven't even released multi core processors yet.

the animated film computers use a different type of video card very unrelated to the typical gaming video card. i found this one 680mb card for 1200 dollars and it said in its desc "not for use with computer gaming, for animation and editing purposes only."

Chimp man you are out of the loop. Dual core cpu's have been out for donkeys years. And one single core athlon 64 is about as quick overall a sthe CPU's in the next gen consoles - don't believe me? Ask a dev or better yet go and find out about these things in depth...
The x1800xl overclocked and the 7800gt overclocked are comparable to the xenon - this we do know, as xenon has been compared to a 24-pipe r420...

't believe I am reading this. By the time Ps3 hits, PC's will already beat it. Pc's will be extreemly more powerfull. New processors and video cards are comming out. Heck a ge7900 is comming out b4 the ps3 & its 750mhz.
Thats a card arround 25% better than the rsx in mhz.
Think before you post
Pcs will be way mre powerfull by the time ps3 hits. They wont be equivelent.

Who said they would eb equivilent. Only the graphics will not yet be on par. PC programmers have to code for the lowest common denominator... that's why consoles are so appealing to developers and buyers.

From chimp guy
Ps3 isnt out yet, if you are talking about the present, it would be true, but technically you can't say you can buy a ps3 with pc equivelent power, because you cant buy it.

Pc's will always be more advanced. They can be up dated constantly with thier indevidual parts.
However when I want to buy the most up to date graphics card when the PS3 is released the card will cost somthing around $400. A blue ray drive will cost loads too. Then its puting this stuff together and configuring it for optimum performance. Also you have to install and download many programs and if you want games like Gears of War you will have to wait atleast one year after the 360 release.
If this wasnt true then consoles would be out of buisness and just PC's will be on the market.

PC game programmers do not code for the lowest in PC. Have you heard of Direct X? And most games do not support anything older than Direct X 8.1. Most of the time they don't bother letting you run in older Direct X modes. Half-Life 2 is a wonderful and rare exception. Have you tried playing very low resource games such as Call of Duty on a Radeon 9000? It doesn't work. And that is why you can adjust your graphical settings based on your rig. Saying that developers must write games to run on the lowest of machines is silly. Even with my FX5700 which is Direct X 8.1, I can't play Doom 3 or F.E.A.R. The only reason consoles exist is for children. Only people without job's bother buying a console. Unless you're new to computers. Then I guess I can understand. Any one that claims to be a hardcore console gamer can shove it. When you've sat on your T.V. and Xbox for 30 hours straight, then we can talk. Maybe. The majority of the technology found in the new consoles is not needed in the PC market. We have no need for silly BD-ROM's. Waste of money. I'll stick with my 10,000RPM Hard drives. Nintendo is the only company that will be worth buying into, it's about the quality of game with consoles, not graphics. I will take you all down in Super Smash Brothers Melee. Marth and I are unstoppable.

And this is why I don't agree with anythign you say, because it is wrong. Programmers do code for the lowest common denominator. That is, the card that has the ability to support the game engine at a basic level. This means that the rest of the game will suffer somewhat because unlike console games, PC games have to be designed to run on a multitude of systems, and DirectX is not soem magical cure. Speak to some devs or read a few in depth articles and the come back with reasonable arguments. Oh and, plenty of people who aren't chilren play consoles, probably more than play PC games... get your facts right, would the best selling game on PS2 be an 18 rated game if at least half the people buying it weren't buying it for themselves - there aren't that many generous parents...

Please. This is getting stupid.
The thread is called 'Nvideas rsx pipelines vs 360 ATI pipelines 360 core vs ps3 cell' not PC vs Console.
I am a harcore gamer and have been since the age of 4. I have had nealry every console and have a good (not excellent) PC.
I like consoles becuase you just plug and play and loads of my mates play the same game in the same quality. You just sit on your couch and play. I do like my PC for strategy and WOW but I prefer to use my PC for prgrams and the brousing the net.
Anyway can be get back to the topic of PS3 and xbox 360 please.

I have a job.
I have consoles.
I have a computer.
I'm not new to them, I work on one and have one at home etc.
The reason I have a console is:-
I don't have the money to constantly update a high spec PC.
I don't have the time for it.
I can go out and get a console that (to me) does the same job minus the hassle. (If you want, you can argue that you get a few more pixels blah blah, but what's the BIG difference?
I can take my console/games etc. to a friends house and play multiplayers, gaming can still be sociable at the same time!
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who know binary, and those who don't

yeah. i believe consoles are more of a social thing. to set up a 4p lan with the given capabilities of the ps3 would cost you nearly 9 grand. all can be done on one console for 500ish. plus you can bring games to others houses or trade with friends any not worry about space. before i reformatted, over half of my 120gigs were video games, so if i had a raptor 10000rpm, its only 74 gigs. i would not be able to do it. the nice thing on a console is you stick in the games and its good to go, no install or anything.
