hello...
i'm new to these forums, so firstly i'd like to say thanks for having them. i spent an hour or so last night reading through them to see if i could find a 'cure' to my ills...
anyway, my problem is as such:
i used to have the PERFECT set up: i would have anydvd to 'decrypt' css-protected dvds, and clonedvd to copy it. i would use dvdshrink whenever the dvd was greater than a 4.7 gb disc, and never had any problems, until recently...
anydvd started to mess around with my system. i dunno WHAT it was, or why it was doing it, but the bottom line is that due to anydvd, my computer would randomly 'bluescreen', or just decide to reboot. i took it to a few technicians, and paid quite a bit to have the problem sorted out, but to no avail. a few tests were conducted, and i concluded that anydvd was somehow 'conflicting' with my computer's ability to function properly. anyway, i deleted anydvd, and my problems all went away.
now, i can't burn anything!
someone somewhere told me that because i has anydvd on 'autostart', it was conflicting with EVERYTHING. there was a particular forum online which i could not visit AT ALL. my computer would crash, without fail, within 30 seconds of visiting this site. after deleting anydvd, i've had so such issues...
anyway, i downloaded anydvd again, on a whim, mostly because in conjunction with clonedvd, you could copy a dvd within 30 minutes...if you do it ONLY with dvdshrink, it is likely to take close to an hour. anyway, i dunno HOW much of this 'research' is old, useless or obselete for you guys, but from my experience, ANYTIME anydvd is installed on my computer (even if it hasn't been 'activated'), i can't copy dvds AT all. i used to be able to, but now i cannot. i just recently deleted anydvd, and i am ripping dvds without an issue...
the same goes with authoring dvds. even through nero i could NOT author a simple dvd. i would add avi/mpg files, and go to burn, and within 5 minutes i would receive the same "error has occured: save to log?" prompt.
the odd thing with the clonedvd/dvdshrink bluescreening phenomenon with anydvd is/was that anytime the 'time remaining' went down to 24 minutes through to 20 minutes, it would blue screen. ALWAYS in that time bracket...odd. it would work for twenty or so minutes, and then, without warning, blue screen... i hope some of this is useful, or perhaps someone could provide me with a reason why this is happening. as far as i know, i may have something that is conflicting with anydvd which i don't even know about...
sorry about the long post!
thanks...
