Just purchased ANYDVD and installed. I noticed on one of the posts that the fox is supposed to blink or go grey for a second which tells you that the encryption has been been stripped. Mine did'nt blink?

This is what shows up after inserting the movie:

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 5.6.3.1)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)

Video DVD (or CD) label: THE_ISLAND
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

Not sure what I'm looking for. Does this show that the copy protection has been stripped? Any help greatly appreciated.

Basically there is not a lot to it, just make sure you have your correct region code, I live in Aus so my region code is 4 as shown

That is set correctly but what do I look for in the above inoformation that tells me the protection has been stripped out?

Were you trying to back up your DVD and if so all I do is insert disc,( have AnyDVD running in background) into DVD Shrink and just continue from there, you can do a Full backup or Re Author, taking out trailers etc. What burning prog are you using??
You can also use NeroRecode2 doing same things.

Probably Nero. Have the 6.3.1 version. Hav'nt got the newer version with recode in it yet. What others are good?

Your version of Nero is way behind, go to Nero site and update to 6.6.0.18 and then give it a try or you can download a free version of DVD Shrink(just click on link) and you might like to check out this guide on how to use DVD Shrink http://www.dvdplusvideo.com

I have DVD Shrink v.3.2 and have used it on some movies. So I'll go that route. Will download the trial version of Nero and see if I like it any better. Thankx for all your help Gwendolin. O YeaH... I am making a back-up of my The Island dvd. Any known problems with this movie?
