"The Great Raid" has the new Macrovision RipGuard Protection. Yes, if DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 is giving you an error of "out of memory" failure, then this is a commonly known as RipGuard Protection from Macrovision.

To solve this problem, you'll need VobBlanker to "blank" out and "filter" those junks (bad/protected sectors), then once VobBlanker is done processing, you can open up DVD Shrink (click on Open Files) or Nero Recode 2 (click on Import) and continue on with your usual transcoding/shrinking process.

<> rip the movie using DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F (you will see a warning message from "Brute Force" saying: there's nothing for Brute Force to crack, just click "OK" and you should be fine). Once you're done ripping, close DVD Decrypter.

<> make a new folder called NEW_GREAT RAID and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS under "NEW_GREAT RAID" from your hard drive. Now Exit out.

For those that are familiar with my method using VobBlanker, below is what you need to do and I guarantee that you'll have a "successfully working full disc". And of course, I "BLANK" out those 2 annoying "FBI Warnings" sh!t out too, if you follow the steps below.

**once you open up VobBlanker do this:

<> set your INPUT --> browse your VIDEO_TS file that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier, then click OPEN
<> set your OUTPUT--> browse to your NEW_GREAT RAID, VIDEO_TS folder

<> under "Title set" double click on VIDEO_TS.VOB, under "Language, # PGCs, Ini Size" click on 14, it should display PGC 1 --> 14, now "BLANK" out all PGCs, EXCEPT PGC 3 only and click OK.

<> click on VTS_01_*.VOB, double click on PGC or TTN # 1, now you should have 1 --> 26 Cell, BLANK out Cell #1, #2, #3 (you will see a message saying: there is one cell already in use, a new VobId/CellId will be use, click OK) #4 and #26, click APPLY.
<> Now BLANK out PGC 02 and PGC 03

<> click on VTS_04_*.VOB, and BLANK out PGC 05

<> now click on PROCESS and sit tight until VobBlanker filter out and blank those junks out -- it should be only 10 - 15 minutes only.

Once VobBlanker is done, you can import or load your newly created folder into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode and follow your usual shrinking process. That's it... easy as sippin' on some Vodka.

Y'all should be just fine with the above steps, let me know if y'all run into any issues. Good luck and Happy New Year!!!

@alkohol

Not sure if you saw my other post but,

1 - Could I use the method for 'THE_CAVE' for this film and have the same result?

2 - Why use VoBblanker and not the Pcgdit and PSL2 pluggin?

Im just curious about the diffrence..

Cheers!

Both methods are good and useful, I recommend you to keep both VobBlanker and PgcEdit in combo with PSL2 plugins and FixVTS. It won't hurt to keep them both because if one doesn't work, then the other will take care of the job.

VobBlanker is a very powerful tool for "blanking" out fake/bad cells or pgcs, it will process and filter junks/fake cells/sectors just like PgcEdit. In addition, it can "blank" out that annoying fbi warning, plus other scenes, extras/previews/trailers, plus you can "edit, play, preview and cut" any unwanted scenes.

Good luck at using both PgcEdit and VobBlanker.

Like everyone else said you are the Sh** hands down.
I would like to ask you a question though, i can follow your guild useing VOBLANKER with no problems and have used it many times and it has worked just fine but is there a place on the internet that you can send me for a easy guild to teach me more about VOBBLANKER so that i can now its full power as i think i am just looking at the tip of the iceburg?

@mongor

You're welcome for the feedback and compliment.

Here are my methods:

<><> A <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via Mode File F
<> VobBlanker to "process" and "blank" out fbi warning, fake/bad cells/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 and burn with Nero Burning Rom

<><> B <><>
<> DVD Decrypter to rip via Mode File F
<> PgcEdit to "process" and "filter" out fake/bad cells/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 and burn with Nero Burning Rom

<><> C <><>
<> DVDFAB Decrpter to rip
<> VobBlanker to "process" and "blank" out fbi warning fake/bad cell/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 and burn with Nero Burning Rom

<><> D <><>
<> DVDFAB Decrypt to rip
<> PgcEdit to "process" and "filter" out fake/bad cell/pgcs
<> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 and burn with Nero Burning Rom

100% success regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, plus it doesn't required AnyDVD or DVD43.

Just so you know, here's another useful method that I used http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/282892 (all the tools are inside, make sure you read the "redme.txt" installation instruction for the PSL2 plugin).

The more you used VobBlanker and PgcEdit with either DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter, the more knowledge you'll acquire and you're likely to have less headaches with RipGuard or ARccOS.

Good luck and have fun burning!! Remember all the applications/programs that I'm using is/are FREE!!!!

@kub277

You're welcome, glad I could help. Now enjoy your backup to the fullest. Again, I must say; "The Great Raid" is worth using VobBlanker, it's worth doing 2 backups, it is definitely one of the best movie in 2005.

The Great Raid is a Great movie. That is one of the first ones I treid to back up (and failed) Now that I have been tought a little about DVD's I plan on getting it and trying to burn it again. And Yes I did see the post on how to do it. I have bought and downloaded about 6 programs so for and it seems to be working most of the time. I have Nero 7 and have had some luck with it. I had less luck with DVD Xcopy. But thanks once again. I thought about getting that AnyDVD, but I downloaded the trail verson and not real sure if its is doing anything or not. Any thought on that and maybe the program dvd copy from slysoft?

OK, I am having a problem with this DVD. I followed the steps using VobBlanker you gave and burned with Shrink/Nero, but all that is going onto the DVD is the movie with the commentary. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?

alkohol- I've never once had a problem backing-up my DVDs with DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink until I tried backing-up The Great Raid. Couldn't have done it without your guide. I owe you a vodka.
THANK YOU!
