I'm not dissin' AnyDVD, but I don't think I'll be getting AnyDVD anytime soon. DVDFAB Decrypter(FREE) can rip any dvds as flawless as AnyDVD does, plus VobBlanker, PgcEdit combo PSL2 plugin and FixVTS supporting DVD Decrypter are all FREE tools and I can successfully ripped and backed up any new release flawlessly regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS.
With that being said, why should I get AnyDVD (retail) when all the FREE tools are working flawlessly for me? I know AnyDVD is a great cracking engine, but I just don't find any good reason for me to buy it, maybe in the future someday, but definitely not now.

Hello,
I have been reading posts here now for a few weeks and have learned quite a lot about backing up my dvds. I have used DVDSHRINK, DVDDECRYPTER, DVDFAB EXPRESS, VOB BLANKER, AnyDVD (TRIAL VERSION) and
PGCEDIT. So far I have, with the help of you guys been able to backup all the movies that I have tried until now. The movie is THE GREAT RAID. I have follewed alkohol's guide to the T. Here is what I am getting:
When I first try and put in the Video Input Manager, I browse to the proper file and I get this: Detected ini/end cell pointers out of range in MENUS domain. Affected tittlesets are:
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_03_0.IFO
A full scan is required. see MENU->FILE->FULL SCAN....
I tried to continue anyways and started the process, I got as far as 68% and then I got this in the log:
error opening input VOB.C:\ THE_GREAT_RAID\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_1.VOB
I also got this error: ERROR: referenced menu empty or does not exist in Video_TS.
Does any of this make any sense to anyone. I have tried to back this up with every thing I have. Still no luck. Good Movie Though!
Thanks...................TLSrider

If you're lost and or confused about the simple guide that I made, then just disregard that process and follow this new process.
<> rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 http://www.dvdidle.com/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe into your hard drive
<> PROCESS the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker, here http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm <> transcode your newly created VIDEO_TS file once VobBlanker is completed with DVD Shrink as normal
<> burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO Image at your desire burning engines (i.e. ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter or Nero).
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: you need to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines while you're ripping with DVDFAB Decrypter and while you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker.
Honestly, The Great Raid shouldn't be hard at all. However, it is true that The Great Raid does have RipGuard protection/encrypted sectors though. Good luck and let me know how it goes. If you need more helps, then I suggest you click on my name or the bold link under my sig on "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" method and use that method to rip "THE GREAT RAID".
It should work, the main process or things to remember is to set your:
(A) "INPUT = your VIDEO_TS.IFO file that you ripped earlier with DVDFAB Decrypter"
(B) "OUTPUT = your new folder in hard drive, so basically you'll need to create a new folder aka NEW GREAT RAID and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS inside NEW GREAT RAID, so it should read like this; C:\NEW GREAT RAID\VIDEO_TS"
(C) click PROCESS below and wait 10 minutes for VobBlanker to finish.
**NOTE: for future dvds/movies or current; make sure under the "Action", all the VTS is stated as "PROCESS", if any of them VTS stated as SKIP, then you'll need to click on "PROC.ALL" on the right for the Action to Process all VTS. Unless you're an advanced VobBlanker user(s), then you can skip, cut or blank out any unwanted JUNKS, VTS, PGCs/TTNs or Cells, etc.
Good luck!!

Thankyou alkohol for such a speedy response. I dont know why I had problems with your guide, it was very simple and to the point, it just wouldnt work for me. Last night I couldnt even run dvdfab, it would freeze up right at the begining. Anyway today I downloaded dvdfab again, and ran the new one and it worked perfect. I used dvdshrink to shrink and burn it.
I am new at this and I am trying to learn as I go along. Without you guys I would be in the total dark.
Thank you all, this place is awesome!!!!!!

alkohol,
First and Foremost, thanks for everything!!!
Now, in the earlier post you said:
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: you need to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines while you're ripping with DVDFAB Decrypter and while you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker.
I followed your guide for the GREAT RAID, and ran into a problem when trying to use Shrink, also had the same problem on a previous DVD. I thought the first problem was just do to a dirty DVD. But now think back, the first time using your guide, i had DVD43 turned off, the last two, it was on.
What's the significance with having those turned OFF while using DVDFAB Dec, and VobBlanker??
Is there anyway I can turn off DVD43 while using VobBlanker and still work?
I'll try that now!

Well apparently my rip didnt go perfect. I let someone borrow the copy I made and they said five minutes into the movie the sound went dead. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

What did you used to rip the movie? The Great Raid has the "RipGuard Protection", however, DVDFAB Decrypter and VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 should be able to rip and process the movie smoothly. VobBlanker is a powerful free tool that "correct & fix" any invalid data structures (i.e. bad dummy cells, bad sectors, etc.).
When I said; "TURN OFF AnyDVD or DVD43 or other cracking engines while you're "ripping" the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter and when you "processed" the VIDEO_TS.IFO (already ripped from DVDFAB Decrypter)" through VobBlanker".
What I meant is if you had DVD43, AnyDVD or other cracking engines running in the background, then you're likely to end up with some kind of issues/errors only. The same thing apply to VobBlanker when you processed your already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO file, because DVD43 or AnyDVD will only cause/conflict with VobBlanker and DVDFAB Decrypter only. So it's best to turn them off. That being said, DVDFAB Decrypter is already a great ripper at the moment.
You shouldn't have any issues at all with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.2 and VobBlanker, then transcode with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or encode with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP (your choice).
