Uninstall it. Reboot.
Re-install it. Reboot.

Should solve the problem.

I just updated today, and burned Resident Demon with no problems. Playback is fine. Skipping/freezing are usually signs of bad media, burning too fast, or multi-tasking while burning. Not saying this is the reason in your case, just that it is the most common reason. The update does caution

Important: When installing this version over an existing
installation, you must reboot your machine. Otherwise the changes
made in the AnyDVD device driver will not have any effect!
and it prompts you to reboot after the install.

ok, not sure if its 'anydvd' or not?? i just updated AnyDVD, and made backup of 40yr old virgin using clonedvd2 and AnyDVD running in background. the backup plays ok in my standalone dvd player, but won't play in my computer's dvd drive, thought it might have been a bad disk, so i made another backup...same problem. i un-installed the new version of AnyDVD..then re-booted, then ran the installation..then re-booted again, made another backup..still same problem.

I'm using verbatum -r discs and this is the first time i have ever ran into this problem, am thinking has something to do with the new version of AnyDVD.

That's twice now that I've seen posts concerning AnyDVD and 40 yr old Virgin.

Possible bug in the new program or it may just be this movie. I'm going to contact the good folks at Slysoft and let them know. They are usually pretty responsive so you may want to hold off a couple of days and give them a chance to take a look at this. If there is a fix on their end then there will be an update soon.

Viva AnyDVD 5.7.2.1! Just made a Full back-up of Brothers Grimm using
DVDShrink/AnyDVD/Nero, No problems??
Shrink didn?t run out of memory.. Burned to Verbatim 16x, +R Booktyped to DVD-ROM at 8x. Works great, will not Chip, Peel, Crack or Whistle Dixie!!

Long Live AnyDVD!
