depending on what method you used to install 3.10 OE; yes.... this is normal...

you should just use one of the winstallers from my sig, and call it a day, instead of installing a new cfw manually...

I feel sorry for kids that have downgradeable firmwares & refuse to delete DEVhook & UMDemulator.....

CFW is all you need, if you still want to use that dinosaur of a program; be my guest...

I feel sorry for people still using DEVhook.....no, i feel stupid for them...

Hey all, i'm new here and am having a little trouble getting into the whole ISO thing.
i've everything that was mentioned in the original posts, yet when i try to load WipeoutPure using the UMDemulator v.0.8c, it either freezes, quits the emulator (it looks like it is working using the 'System menu' as it loads the blue sony screen) but then it freezes aswell, or i just get a blank screen.

Any help in sorting this issue out would be welcomed and appreciated.
Much thanks in advance.

Great guide!! Works fine except a couple of problems I faced and I do not know why. First my umd games are not loading now (I get an error saying that I have to update to play the game (???)) and 2nd I cannot play one of my ISO games, the GTA vice city. Can anyone help?
Thanks

You mayaswell just move onto one of the custom firmwares.
Umdemulator is too much hassle,

With the custom firmware you can jsut put your ISO in an ISO folder
and it will appear under your games menu on your psps

You can have the neewest firmware eg 3.XX
and it can still play ISOs

Do google search on it

I bought my PSP in firmware 2.81. I went to 1.5 and then to 3.03 oe and I couldn't play ISO games with the way you said. So I tried also 3.40 oe a. But the same result. After reading this guide I went back to 1.5 again and thankfully I can play ISO games. But my problem now is that I cannot play umd games and its a little bit strange!! I also know that to play ISO games on a custom firmware you only need an ISO file in the root menu of the memory stick. That's what I tried. If I did anything wrong please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Hi again. Firstly, thx for the advice guys and i've managed to get Devhook 0.51 up and running (mostly). the only problem i'm finding is that when i run the devhook and go into the firmware section, it gives me 4 options (2.71 2.80 2.82 and 3.01) and i can only get the 2.71 to work. the others merely freeze at some point. i have a feeling it's the flash files or something but i can't be sure, any help with this would be appreciated.

secondly, is there any way to emulate 3.11 firmware with Devhook 0.51?

and last of all, i've been obtaining ISOs in the form of .rar files and when i extract them there isn't a simple .iso file, i find all the files that would reside within an ordinary .iso instead, so i was hoping someone could tell me how to change the .rar file into a .iso so that i can stick it into the iso file on my memory stick.
Thx again.

upgrade devhook to .52 then upgrade to the latest, I believe that way you can play the latest games, I am installing .52 right now.

ok HELP i have a fair idea at what some of your problems are i just dont know how to fix them now some of the games you are running require higher frimware like Pursuit Force for example it requires FW version 2.00 so when you try and run in on PSP FW 1.50 it freezes or comes up "The game could not be started. (800200D9)" so now you look at the menu and like magic it thinks the game you have inserted is that game but when you run it from the PSP menu it completely turns the PSP off and when you turn it back on well here we are again now reading from some of your messages i beleive you are trying to tel me that if i upgrade to say 3.40 OE-A firmware i can run UMD emulator and the firmwares will still work now im not the best PSP expert (in fact i only had a psp since september 06 :Z) but wouldnt even the custom FW say "the game could not be stated corrupted data"? oh and one way to get rid of that annoying Corrupted data symbol is to use sei-psp tool ;)

if you go with custom firmware, it wouldn't give the error because it's designed to play games up to the firmware number. (i.e. 3.52 m33-4 will play up to games that needs 3.52 firmware). you wouldn't need a umd emulator either. they have no-umd drivers built in.

also, custom firmware has the feature to hide corrupt icons.

okay i took your advice and used 3.40 OE-A now tell me if this is right or not, i extract my game say... Pursuit Force, then i use PBP unpacket to see the game code: e.g. it is UCES00019 then make a folder with that name so then should i be able to load it of the psp menu? or do i do something else?

when playing a game without the umd, it should be in iso or cso format. you don't need to do anything else. is your pursuit force in either format?

all iso/cso files go into the ISO folder, in the root of the memory stick. (ms0:\ISO) the folder must be in all caps.

ms0 is the memory stick. it's just to point out where it is.

your files are the extracted files from an iso/cso. you'll need to get them converted into the format, or you'll have to download the game online, from a torrent site.

you cannot run the game; it's not in the right format. it's not going to show up in the menu.

that is how the games are suppose to be. they will show up in the game/memory stick of the xmb if they are like that.
