I'm a literal person, pulsar. I attempt to deal only in actualities and not slang or grave misusages of something which I hold dear. This, of course, being the ability to communicate and express one's self.

What worries me is that new dictionaries now contain this deformed definition and I foresee things only getting dimmer and more blurred together. The true meaning of anything will eventually fade away into history.

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

Jallan, read the forum rules above about posting & language. don't be a wannabe moderator as we will flame you. if there is something offensive than use the offensive icon but other than that keep a civil tongue to yourself.

I am similar to your goodself, I have an absolute passion for my mother tongue & object when words are added to the dictionary for the sake of it. Saying that, languages evolve, but I sometimes think that it changes just for changes sake. In the UK the possessive has the apostrophe after the s, as in ones', as opposed to one's (a contraction of one is). I apologise for my pedant nature.
Laurenzo, steady on. I am sure that jallan is not as bad as you make out. In fact, I look forward to more linguistic challenges with a fellow etimologist. Without people like Jallan, our language would fall into complete disrepair.

OK guys, I think enough is enough, I am big enough & ugly enough to make up with Jallan. I can be rather harsh, sometimes, but I think that it is time to move on. There are WAY more important things in life than to fall out over semantics.

I think that both Jallan & I have both made our points, both valid. End of story, Jallan do you agree?

Our points? Yes yes. Quite so.

Though, final thoughts and I promise I'll drop it all:

"..how disappointing, you don't have any smart retorts.."

I wasn't aware you deserved any.

Now, about playing moderator: What I'm actually attempting to perform is the act of seeming like a responsible user and supporter of the further development of software and this fine fine fine forum.

@jallan. this thread has become quite fiery. All I am suggesting is you can answer people in a civil tongue, nobody wants to be abused.
You obviously have something to offer, just try a different tact.
Cheers.

indeed. tact is a wonderful attribute, and there's always ways to say things without being rude to ppl. I could easily (and often) be a lot more brutal in the way i word things around here, but i exercise restraint, remember anyone out in the world can very easily end up in a thread such as this from a deliberate or accidental google search and imagine their first impression.

Unless they were talking about the lifetime of something other than a human such as a christmas chiapet. Then their advertisement was valid.

i'm currently in trial period using Apollo DVD for back ups and workd pretty good with the exception of a couple of Disney movies.

i see a lot of people suggesting AnyDVD, can someone explain why they prefer AnyDVD over Apollo (if they have tested this) or even DVD Fab Express.

thanks

Do you know how many responses one gets when APOLLO is googled?

be reasonable, its much more logical for people to mention where software can be

1) informed about
2) downloaded or
3) purchased

than it is to expect anyone interested to google something
that might not even exist if the original poster

1) didnt spell it right or
2) doesnt get the name right at all

right?

It took me a whole 1 min. to find it in google. Some people want it all handed to them without any effort.
