I just starting using AnyDVD and really like it. One question, I am using it with the defaults and was wondering if there is any advantage turning on the " Remove annoying adverts and trailers " Then use jump to main movie. If something works I hate to change things.

Yes, it does work with almost all dvds, if you want to sit through all the warning screens that seem to last forever, then do not tick the box. If you tick the box it will usually go straight to the movie (If you have done movie only, generally).

Why not try it & see for yourself, you may be pleasantly surprised with the results you get!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Concur with advice from aabbccdd.

I always use the default settings for AnyDVD when backing up a disc. I believe the feature you are referring to only works properly for DVD playback on your PC. Have seen posts where ther are claims that having this activated during backup messed up the copy, but have not confirmed this myself.

Your best bet is to pay for AnyDVD. It is updated often and worth every penny, in my opinion. However, some people choose to use DVD43. DVD43 is not updated very often but is free.

If you try DVD43, make sure you uninstall AnyDVD first. There was a system conflict reported some time ago when running both software titles.

Totally agree, as I have said elsewhere:
Some things are actually worth paying for. AnyDVD is one of these. With AnyDVD running Shrink will see movie as "unprotected" and will work perfectly. Less steps, less aggrevation, less work, faster, excellent results. Worth every penny.

Adding to STANH, Nero recode is a 1 step program (if you have 2 DVD drives) when throwing AnyDVD in the mix. Put your target disc in 1, a blank in the other, than sit back and smile because its so easy...

Pulsar is right about removing the annoying warnings. It works and removes all that stuff from the disk. It has no effect with the burning process being successful. Mine's checked. I mainly burn the main movie to keep compression at a minimum.

That certainly beats a multistep process involving DVD Decryptor, VOB Blanker, Shrink, and a burning program. My goodness, somtimes paying for something (AnyDVD)is so much better that the money is well spent. Trying to penny pinch is sometimes just not worth it.

Its great that there are ways to educate us on how to do the same thing many different ways. Using 5 different programs is a great free way to get the job done, and also teach you about all the small details that go into the process. Getting things down to one step, however, is most everyones ultimate goal and Recode with AnyDVD is a great way to it.

Just got DVDclone. My question is, is there a setting you need to change when you rip to a double layer disc? or does it automaticaly adjust to the double layer disc?

That link is very simple and straight forward. Even a newb like me was able to read through it once and burn a dvd (backup) the first time. I even thought I must have done something wrong - it just couldn't be that quick and easy, but it works fantastic and no quality lost that's noticable (at least on this one). I'm impressed and grateful for all the knowledgeable posts here.

If they want you they will get you, trace ISP addresses, membership to aD and view personal posts, etc. You can also get hit by a car crossing the street but that doesn't stop you from doing it.

Buying AnyDVD program is not the problem... It is giving out your personal credit card info that becomes the problem.

Your Credit Card can be traced to you. It is not leagal to use these programs and if the feds get into this companies records, they will see your personal info and they can find you.

DON'T Give your personal info out in order to buy a product that may get you into trouble.
