There is a think called cheap media. Its those no name brand dvd's they sell. Those cheap crap they sell are cheap media. It was stated as a fact that those type of dvd's do not last long after being burnt. Maybe 6month - 1 year. The better dvd's such as memorex, phillips, verbatim, TDK such that are quality last a little bit longer. The cheaper the dvd there are 75 % more problems when burning of errors. Trust me when you have these guys telling you the truth. You get exactly what you pay for. Its worth you spend the extra 5 - 10 bucks for something better.

GOOD MORNING, i'm using verbs as all of you say are the best, now i'm not disclaiming that but i have a high rate of failed burns like about 20% pretty high yet with tdk's and sony it's about 10%i get write failure with all. How long is the life of a quality burned dvd.

there is only 1 (single) brand you just named that even qualifies as being "good"...and that would be Verbatim~ :) Memorex, Philips, TDK...all SUCK~!
we all know bout Memorex and their CMC MAG quality...the same holds true with Philips and i REALLY hate TDK's own discs...
when you say "trust me when you have these guys telling you the truth"...who are "these guys" that you are referring to...???
i know for a fact that ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about media would NOT recommend those brands you recommended above, with the only exception being Verbatim~ :)
TDK, Memorex, and Philips are on the "bottom level" of the media food chain in MY book~
please get your facts straight before telling people to get TDK, Memorex or Philips... 1 outta 4 ain't bad, but 25% is NOT acceptable when it comes to media...

I was just wondering what the 'best' brand of DVD's are in your own opinion, and experiences...I use Sony (DVD-R, and DVD+R)

@grafton
Your media failure issues may be caused by something else...firmware, software, multitasking etc.
@XxRUINSxX
I think a vast majority of the AD community would agree that TY's are the best. However, Verbatims or Sony, Fuji, and Maxell( Made in Japan) are arguably just as good. I personally only use the Maxell, some other members only use Verbs and so on and so forth. Pick a brand (I see you are using Sony) and another brand and compare, then use what works best for you.

Tys are just a shortcut we use for Taiyo Yuden, a disc manufacture in Japan and its media can be found under such brands as Sony, Maxell, Fuji, if made in japan is on the spindle. Best media out there in my opinion. Verbatims are sometimes shortened to verbs and they are great media also. There are some other acceptable ones out there, but you have to find something your system likes. Best media usually give best results. That Sony media is also good, even the non-Ty ones.
Die CMC Mag!!!
