I agree AnyDVD is well worth the $ especially if you want to use shrink. But it doesn't need to run with dvdfab decrypter also. Fab decrypter is free, still updated regularly and will handle all the new movies out there. So either one will work w/ shrink. In fact both progs have had updates just to help shrink handle the movies.
Maybe in the future, I might get AnyDVD one day, but at least not at the moment, not now.
DVDFAB Decrypter is as great, it can rip any new release movies (dvds) 100% flawlessly. It updates regularly just so it can rip and crack the latest protections from RipGuard or ARccOS, in addition it's FREE.
Another powerful free tool is VobBlanker, this tool can "process" and "filter" out any craps, junks, dummy cells or sectors after ripping through DVDFAB Decrypter and this method has proven to be flawless evidently. It can munually "blank" out any unwanted scenes (i.e. trailers, previews, etc.) easily, so your final VIDEO_TS file is smaller and you'll gain more quality when transcoding with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 or encode with DVD Rebuilder + CCE SP.
On the other hand, DVD Decrypter still rip and decrypt more than 95% - 99% of the movies, or if you can workaround DVD Decrypter with the support from PgcEdit or PSL2 plugin (this method worked 100%), then you shouldn't have to worry about getting AnyDVD anytime soon.
Overall, all of those tools mentioned are FREE. However, the choice is yours.

I'm with Alcohol on this one, with the exception that DVDDecrypter still worked on 100% on the backups I made including the new protections. Used DVDFab only on one occasion and it is very promising. I do not doubt the power and convenience of AnyDVD at all, but there are other ways to skin a cat :)
I agree with alkohol and dr_no, I always suggest AnyDVD as a last resort...I own it, use it and love it, but I don't want to always force a pay program down others throats.
I changed the thread title , to something more appropriate.
I will not be told I have to buy certain programs. I have never needed AnyDVD til this moment in time & see no reason for that to change in the immeadiate future. ! ;-)
Always heard good things of it for ppl that have troubles tho , so to each their own - lol
