New reader - enjoy the information. I have used DVD43 along with Shrink and it has worked fine, although I have heard that it sometimes creates problems with DVDFab and possibly DVD decrypter also. So far, I have not had any problem. Is DVD43 similar to anydvd? They seem to work along similar veins, so are they or are they different? I have not used anydvd yet, and want to try it for the 21 days trial; but I must say, I have used shrink and Nero alone, and have had little problem ripping and burning dvds just with these two. When I upgraded my Nero from 6.0 to 6.6, I then had problems with Shrink, so I had to uninstall and reinstall Nero 6.0. So far, so good. Appreciate response.

I too have used the combo of DVD43 and dvdshrink for many years and have now added vobblanker to my arsenal for the new movies so far so good no problems
I dont understand though why was DVD43 canned and yet AnyDVD is still openly distributed

With the new $ony Arco$$ protection you will need anydvd 5.4.8.1 (or higher) OR DVD fab decrypter.
Anydvd is always bieng updated and current with the new protections.
DVD43 is defunct and no longer updated.
Otherwise FAB and VObblanker will fill in the blanks.
But fab and anydvd dont play well together,
So I pretty much dont use it myself.
Since anydvd/dvdshrink take care of whatever I throw at it.
good luck.
Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

DVD43 is alive and doing well under a new name.
The rights to DVD43 were purchased by the owners of DVDfab products.
It is the decrypter in DVDfab region+css free.
The free version of DVD43 was updated a couple weeks ago.
I would post the link to the page this info is on but I can not find it at the moment.
The info stated not to run free version of DVD43 and free version of DVDFAB decyrpter as they may conflict with each other even if DVD43 is turned off.

That is good info, although I rarely recommend the program.
@keyrom
Welcome to AD.
DVD43 is or appearantly was a decent program but didn't play well with others, if you can use it with no problems consider yourself lucky. Different systems will produce various results.
AnyDVD works alot like DVD43 but better, it is updated very often and there are no known conflicts that I know of (other than your wallet), and it might be the best money I've ever spent. But DVDFab Decrypter combined with VovBlanker has stepped up to the plate and offered pretty darn good support for newer movies, and both are free.
So take AnyDVD for a 21 day test drive and then as everyone so far has suggested try out DVDFab and VobBlanker and make your own decision. I don't think you'll lose with either method.

I say your best bet is just to use VobBlanker....it's been full proof for me so far, and many others will agree ( DVD Decrypter is the ripping prog I use the most, that paired with blanker, and Shrink) are what's best for me so far...
