Suddenly I am having problems even though I have the latest updates. Movie will rip and burn fine BUT when I go to play it I get a "Disk Playback feature not available" message and the movie will not play. Burner and blank media are both fine as I can make copies of copies and other projects. I uninstalled the software and installed again. However; now need to repurchase the keys because it tells me my trial period is over. Before I do this can anyone recommend any other software that works as well as anydvd and clone dvd 2? I'm afraid of it not working again and being out $59.00.

Thanks for your response. No problems w/ the players w/ any disks. Been having trouble with windows media player since I installed a new graphics card, however the original movie does play in cloner's preview screen. I think the problem is with AnyDVD. I say this because I can may a copy of a previous copy using CloneDVD just fine . . no problems. As for you suggestion . . using multiple software programs is new to me. I started with XCopy Platinum then DVDClone II and then CloneDVD II with AnyDVD. It's always been straight forward, fast, and simple. Trying to keep it that way. I'll check out your suggestion.

Try the free ones out - there really not that bad or hard. May seem a little much at first - but they're really not that bad.
See if the copy that gives you an error previews in CloneDVD.

I uninstalled CloneDVD. Cannot try your suggestion unless I purchase the key again. I think the problem lies with AnyDVD. It's only when I try to copy from an original that I get the problem. As for as your suggested software . . are they up-to-date with the latest encryption?? What about updates? Thank you for your help.

Not a problem!
All 3 progs will remove the copy protection - but 2 no longer are updated (still good to have)
DVD Fab decrypter is updated often to handle the newer movies - just a ripper only.
DVD Shrink will encode/compress the files from fab decrypter. Can rip & encode some movies on it's own. It uses Nero or decrypter to autoburn.
DVD Decryper - will autoburn the files from shrink. Ripper and burner. More updated to handle some of the later stuff than shrink is.
Shrink also has a preview pane - so you can try the copy in shrink and see what happens.
Like I said it's looks harder than it is - you'll get the hang of it in no time!

Thanks Bink. Smart & Beautiful! I'll give it a try. Just went hunting through my registry to fully exterminate AnyDVD and cloner. Going to try a free trial once again. Also going to try the "old school" way as well. Thanks again!

Tks!!
I use all the progs in these posts + a few more. Mainly anydvd & clonedvd 1st - never seen the problem you had though.
Try the 'old school' way - get the hang of it then there's another prog you can throw in to do some editting - like the warnings. It will take care of those annoying warnings when anydvd can't.
Let us know how it turns out!
happy burning!
editted to add: btw Welcome to aD!

No you dont need it you could use AnyDVD and clone str8 from the disc, but alot of ppl like to rip it first with a program like DVD Decrypter.
Sometimes to keep things peaceful you need a Piece thats Full

Are you talking about clonedvd2 or dvdclone? The one mostly talked about on aD is CloneDVD2. CloneDVD can't back up copy protected dvd's like PeiceFull said w/o AnyDVD running in the background or using a ripper 1st.

To bypass a few steps buy AnyDVD - it will run in the background and you can just use CloneDVD like PeiceFull said.
Also dvdfab decrypter is still updated while DVD Decrypter is not (still good prog though).
If you need it here's a link:

While we are on the subject of AnyDVD and ClonerDVD, Has anyone had a playback message on their dvd player that states "Playback feature may not be available on this disk" and not be able to play the disk. I have suddenly encountered this problem after usind dvdclone and anydve for a year with NO problems. Blinkie and I have been trying to figure this out to no avail. I have uninstalled both programs, totally cleaned the registry, and re-downloaded both programs and purchased . . AGAIN . . the keys and still having the same problem. Copies of copies are fine. Backing up an original is not. Movies that I have had problems with are "SAW2" and "A Lot Like Love". Have not tried anything else. A friend of mine copied both and his copies are playing back just fine. I hate to think that I just P*&^ed away $49.00. Any ideas?????????

@ RippinMad:
Seems it all started when you installed the new graphics card. The graphics card firmware could be the cause. DRM issue?
MS is a monopoly oriented company. They work very hard to ensure that you have to buy their current software release every couple of years. Otherwise your computer will cease to work. Other compnies follow suite to stay on MS's good side.
Short of re-formatting and starting from square one (aside from the video card), download & run "Ccleaner" after you un-install a program. That should remove registry entries (hopefully) that are giving you fits when you try to re-enter your "paid for" keys. I would try it but I have a working combination and don't want to screw anything up, since I have numerous movies, on numerous drives I do not want to risk losing.
I can't over-emphasize the DRM aspect of anything MS is related to or involved in these days.
A possible solution, put your old video card back in and see what happens.
