I tried this many, many times, eventually it worked (despite doing the same thing as I had done the other 100 times). Now my PSP connects and receives 100% signal power, but I get the DNS error. Telewest/Blueyonder don't allow sharing.

However, use the internet on my PDA via bluetooth, can anyone offer any advice?

I still get the DNS error if my firewall is switched on. I'm running ZoneAlarm, and when I try to connect with the PSP, I add the incoming alerts to my trusted zone, but the error persists.

I'm still not entirely sure how I'm connecting, as my modem still doesn't show up as a bridging device. Could that be the problem?

yh, i disable my firewall, zonealarm isnt my best freinds, half the time it doesnt do what i command. So it might be the firewall, also the birdge aspect is a big one.

Yes I have the sharing box ticked. I read somewhere that AOL have to use specific software (AOLs software) to acces the net, someone else posted that this problem also accours with telewest.

I cannot solve the DNS error, I'm not very network minded so don't know how to do it.

Hi all,

Sorry to sound like another pain in the butt but I would really appreciate some help with this. I have tried all the other ways on this thread but to date have had no luck.

The best I have got out of this so far is about 5-10 mins which it worked and then it gave up after I turned my computer off and back on. (for the PSP) I originally installed the software, created a new connection, allowed sharing and then dialled up the new connection but it seems the dongle connection is not active and is still disconnected?

IS there anyone who knows how to set this thing up on Broadband AOL (not Wireless connection the USB one.) a simplistic guide.

If anyone has a guide on how to do this I would be much appreciative. I am on nick_18_london@hotmail.com and on this thread if anyone can help.. a Mars bar to the person who can (hopefully) sort me out on this darn thing..

Or its ebay for the dongle..

Many Thanks Guys

Are there any firewalls that work with this thing?

well...um..you just have to try and change the settings depending with your firewall brad, You have to allow incoming access, but then why have a firewall if your going to allow incoming access. I just disbale my zone alarm and windows firewall.

All i teel you guys is just to fiddle about wiht the device, because there are not correct settings, you have to play around with it.

I also recently bought the wifi max, and like everyone else, had the same problem (error obtaining IP Address). It would work about 1 every 50 times! I finally said to hell with it. I went and bout a belkin wireless router at walmart for 38 bucks. It was two bucks cheaper that the PSPWifiMax and it works ALL the time. If you are having problems with the wifi dongle just take it back and get a wireless router.

I have that dumb peace of hardware, but I always get error:8041040D. I have set up everything the way it was recommended which also means that the internet conection has failed. (For now, I can only play in hotspots, like hotels.) Also tried the firewall, that failed also.
