Ok.. It's easy..when you have installed winrar right click on the file and from the drop down menu select "add to <name of file> archive" and a file that looks like a heap of books will appear on your desktop..do this with both saves and then they will go on the action replay mem card..

this guide is perfect , but i dont get the live part is it like as long as i dont have modded maps i can use live lik normal, no change in settings

From what It says, I think when you installled the custom dashboard, you have to select the dual boot option. So that when you start your xbox using the eject button, it will boot up the original MS dashboard, so you can play on live fine. I think you have to set IP to static now though.

ok i modded my friends xbox and got everything right and all that but when i go to turn it on today it goes to the clock and i set it but it goes to the ms dash can anyone help me

once you set your correct time and date quickly turn it off then turn it back on ...
the internal memory on the xbox sucks ,if you leave ur xbox unplug for 3 + hrs it resets it self...

Hey, this is in another thread, but I might as well ask it here too.
I recently downloaded the MS Dash to my computer. I have it all set up, and I need to know what to do with it..
I have my FlashFXP and FTPing DOES. REPEAT DOES.. work for me...
I just need to know if I FTP it to my xbox or anything else.
If I have to FTP it, where do I put it on the xbox. (example: C:etc.>etc.)
BTW: I obviously do not have MS dash, I messed up my xbox, but I do have EvoX, and thats unfortunatly it, repeat it. So I cant go to my memory if I have to at any point, so is it still possible?

ok let me get this straight your xbox is messsed up but you can still acess a dashboard... and you just want to start over to re mod ? or just want it to retail state? well you can get aid 3 and formate the entire hd and put ms dash 5960 and voila new xbox like factory... but yes C folder you need to transfer the ms dash files there.. not zipped or .rar just when u have ftp running wipe out everyting in C then transfer then ms dash there...
why u want to do this anyways? theirs alot of benefits having a softmoded xbox vs non modded.

The softmods not on there anymore, its just a dashboard. After MS dash is back on, then Im going to softmod it agian, this time not messing it up! :-)
OK: I did it, but Im still having problems. I have MS dashboard on there now, which is actually the bad part....oh the irony...
Ive deleted all my softmod files and stuff, and MS dash is working fine. But the problem is, I didnt delete all the hidden linux files, like the ones in E: F: G:...and all the other letters of the alphabet. (LOL) So now when I try to sign into live, I get an update screen. I dont really mind since I expected to see that anyway. So I start downloading, and it says there is not enough memory on the xbox. I then realise, there isnt ANY at all...(Maybe like 1000 blocks...) So I delete some stuff, Im at 12901 blocks right now, and its still not enough. So I attempt to get the evox dashboard back so I can FTP and delete all the unnessesary files while FTPing. but everytime I load the softmod save, it says blah blah blah Error 21.
Its the right save and all, but its not working for some reason. I figure its supposed to happen, and do everything I can to get to that softmod download screen. Trust me, ive tried everything...
But all the time it just brings me to MS dash when I shut off my xbox and turn it back on, BOTH WAYS..
So now im trying to connect so I can ftp with the xbox and all shall be happy :-)...but its not working. Can it even work with MS dash? (Thats a real question..)
And what should I do now? Should I try to download ANOTHER softmod download? Or should I do something else? (BTW: I am doing the softmod with Mech Assualt, and YES, I have changed my IPs like I would to FTP with EvoX and also, YES, the profile for Mech Assualt has all the characteristics its supposed to have...so now what? I want my memory back! GAR!
(More things Ive done, or "other" things if needed.)
(1- The download was from codoejunkies.com and not-)
(from the download on the front page. This means---)
(It was only one save, not 2, like said. Im not sure)
(If thats the reason or not.
(2- The save would say the right level sometimes, but another level (other times.... its weird..
(3- I didnt stay at the error screen and wait for anything to happen, if anything even DOES happen.)
(4- If I need to use AR again, please warn me ahead of time, I need to download it again on my NEWER computer..)

dont take it bad but what a noob... ftp is an unsiged code so you can only do it while its modded. or temp modded whic is linux..
the reason why you get errror 21 is because you deleted your exploits!!!!!!!! their should be 2 if you have sid 4.0 or 4.5 the linux and the game lanucher... so in other words you just shitted your xbox more.... you need to put your exploits back so you can repair your xbox THE CORRECT WAY!..... anyways mostlikely your xbox got ban already .... you should of listend to me thou.. or should read more before you try out shit .

Hey, first of all, Im not banned, I just checked. Trust me, I checked a lot...even checked Halo 2 Matchmaking. Both accounts..
Second of all, how am I supposed to know, and why should I even care, how FTPing really works. I just FTP things to my xbox like Im supposed to and Im done. I dont look into it just so I could know more than other people. Thats not my style, especially when I am busy trying to fix an xbox.... I know it may be vital, but its still not needed.to FTP.
Third, you didnt really explain much to me in that last (2) posts of yours. (you accidentily double posted)

In the game save I downloaded off of codejunkies.com, there wasnt 2, ok. There was just one. Thats it, one. I didnt even know this site existed until AFTER I transferred the save to my Action Replay. (but didnt put it on my xbox until today. My sisters laptop, the one that has Action Replay on it, is crapping up, and is in repair right now. I have the CD but its extremely scratched.)Therefore, at the time, I didnt have access to that download, and didn't know you needed two saves.

How am I supposed to listen to you, you didnt say anything about deleting your files or anything to me in any of your posts, and seriously, I just had gotten my dashboard back after working on it for 2 months! It actually broke in Summer 2005!
Sorry if this sounds a little mean, but I REALLY dont like being called a noob, especially when I dont know something because I dont search for every peice of information on a specific topic.
So tell me, how do I put the exploits back??
PS: I really dont want to get in a fight, I just to be friends and wanted to prove a point. I was just told me xbox crapped up even more when I deleted the exploits, so as you could tell, Im mad.
(Also: When I got MS dash back, no matter what, it still wouldnt bring me back to EvoX, even though it was still on the dashboard.)
(Also also: I DID delete all the C: files, like you said. Not any of the others, because I wasnt told to. I try to follow directions as best as possible..)

I have some questions before I do this myself....
Question 1: The action replay thing can be replaced by any normal memory card or not?
Question 2: Do I need to keep the original game of the 3 choices you gave because I don't want to waste my money on any one of those...
or can I just borrow it from my friend for this process of softmodding?
Question 3: Can someone just please send me the file to my email generated with the action replay that way I don't need to buy it for nothing please? That and if there is a cd included with it, can someone please put it on a torrent website for me to download?? (That is legal right?)
Question 4: All this talk about new xbox dashboards and stuff, is it critical information? I ask this because I want to know, can all (every single one) xboxes be softmodded?
Question 5: Lets say I want to redo this process on another xbox...I do not need the memory card if I have the file right?? I can just FTP it, right??
P.S. I ask all this because I want to be sure and not waste my money because I am pretty poor...

Righty to answer most of those questions...any "official" type memory card should do...test that you can make saves to and from it with the xbox..The action replay is used because it has a usb adapter and the support software to put the saves on..
The games for the softmodding are all old now and don't cost much..Better to buy one..it's cheaper than a chip..and a hell of a lot cheaper than a replacement xbox if you mess it up!!
Just google the exploit for the game of your choice..it's out there you just have to go and find it, like the rest of us did!! When you get it read ALL the info and howto's..people don't write all that stuff for nothing..
You can't ftp into an un-modded xbox..end of story..
Do a lot more reading or you will end up with either a messed up box or a live ban or both...
The tutorial on these pages is pretty good...follow it to the letter and you won't go far wrong.

so...janrocks, when I said ftp it is because I got my brothers xbox and it has a chip in it, so what I am saying is instead of putting the game save onto mem card through the action replay, I can instead ftp it to my bro's hdd, put it on the mem card (a much cheaper mem card) and then take the mem card put it on my unmodded xbox then continue from those steps, as for the game, I don't want to pay for something I don't want so, can I just download the file that I need from it from the internet?

BTW: Is there anywhere were I can download the AR powersaves Disc program to my computer without a CD? (I have one, but its extremely scratched and wont work on the computer)(Is this legal? (Probably Not :-0))

for the ar powersaves: you can download all the saves off the disc and put them into the action replay program ( the middle section is the crap on your computer) why do you want that though? its irrelevant to this completely..you dont need them at all

Paleo1 no worries i anit mad , had a rough day too so sorry if i sounded like a di*K , well sid 4.0 has to files to completely run the softmod , the linux and the laucher, the same with 4.5 but just focus on 4.0 , its fine you can download the software kit from the website , check it for downloads of the cd software or sotmin like that, prety much its simple put new sid 4 exploits ( 2 files) and run linux and mod it , but dont quite understand your current status ?..... hmm if you deleted your C drive you should be getting error 21 on boot up ....

A1)yes the mem card can be replaced by any other card but why would you buy 2 mem cards when the ar kit has a 8mb ? plus i'v never tried any other card besides ar one and i'v been told you have to configure to get other card working.
A2)do you mean keep them after you modded it? well why you be foolish enough to return it after it costed $5-15 bucks ? 007 is a good mutiplayer *+ it pays off mod your friends or familys and charge up 25 bucks or so , ..... but yea you can use 1 of those 3 from a borrow friend or rented , but 5 bucks man! good action game .
A3)even if someone were to send you the software and everyting needed , you still need the ar equipment so you can transfer it to your xbox the usb to mem card adapter saves alot of hassles making a device for your pc , the install disc is included and a 8mb card is also there ,, all for under 30 bucks... ultimaly it doesnt cost more then 50 bucks... and it DOES pay off almost imddealy ... just think of the benefit you get by saving your games to hd or backed up disc ?
A4)it can be VERY useful to know as much as theirs to it but with time you will learn if you pay good attention. but this sid 4 installer was scripted for newbies so they wont make mistakes... so this is as good as mods will ever get for xbo1 .... ye every single xbox can be modded with this mods what ever kernal what ever xbox version what ever dash version and so on ....
A5) thats why i told you you need to keep the mem card so you can mod as many times you want , the same with the game ,, its all a key and a lock kinda things...
no ftp is consider UNSIGED CODE so it wont go throught on a unmodded xbox , really dude as you read on more you see its defo worth it and you will even try to upgrade your hd w/ no chipss!... games wont load ever again! save your originals from getting scratched , so it wont affect re sell price .

gus, I deleted my C: files like you said and replaced them with the MS dash files. Everythings fine except when I try to load the softmod the error comes up, although nothing happens to my xbox, the error just stays there until I restart my xbox, and MS dash comes up again. :-)
BTW: I think I actually DO have 2 saves. Im not sure, but for the future, for the link given on the front page to download the saves, when you click it is it for both? Or just one of the saves. If so where do you download the other?

when you try to load the linux you get error 21 right? but the ms dash loads up when you power it . if you have error 21 when you try to load the ms dash then you are missing 1 of 2 files... go to your memory sectoin and there should be a file for the game you are uisng for the exploits and a knave installer or sometin like that....

I only get an error message when I attempt to load the linux profile on Mech Assualt. MS dash never gives me Error 21. All I have to do is delete the gamesave for Mech Assualt, and wait for my sisters laptop to come back from repair so I can transfer the RIGHT saves to my xbox.
(Hey: Since my Sis. Comp is always crapping up, do you think its possible to burn the Action Replay program to a Disc without the orignal disc itself?) (Like burning it directly from the computer)
(I myself think its possible, I asked my dad, he said he thinks its possible, so really, Im just checking..)

Remember ppl, I have my bro's xbox that is modded so I dont need the action replay...so can I just use a normal (cheaper mem card) and transfer the required files to it and then use the modded xbox transfer (ftp) it to the comp...right?
As for the choice between 3 video games...lets say the first time I borrow my friends splinter cell, next time (when I dont have the splinter cell game anymore) can I just keep the required files on my comps hdd and whenever I need to mod an xbox (friends or anything), I can just ftp it to my bros xbox, then using his xbox, transfer to the mem card cheaper than the action replay (I am trying to save money here, remember?) and then put it on my xbox (or friends) anddo this whole process?

Bottom line is: lets say I had to remod a diff xbox every day, do I need to have splinter cell or can I just keep the required file of it on my comps hdd and do the whole ftp process using my bros modded xbox? (because I can't always depend on my friend to borrow his game and I dont want to buy the action replay which is 45$ canadian, id rather buy a 120$ mem card that does not have the usb thing included because I can ftp using my bros modded xbox!!)
