Anydvd and Clonedvd2 Too Good

In the old days I had to work to backup my dvds now with Anydvd and Clonedvd2 it's just too darn easy. In 20 minutes or less I have a perfect backup every time. I'm gonna have to find a new hobby.

@ what speed did you backup at ?
What was the final result ?
I just backed up a movie that was 1 hr. & 48 min. long.
It took me 1 hr. & 11 min. to back up, from beginning to end.
I burned it at 8X speed.
Why does it take me so long ?? Is this normal ?
I hear & see others say it takes 20 - 45 minutes to back up movies ?

No mate it should take less than 30 minutes to back up most DVD's may be you are running to many aplications in the back ground.My best spend money on my credit card was buying Any DVD and Clone DVD these 2 pograms are superb .The best it only take me less than 30 minute to back up my DVD's i dont like playing my orginals i always back them leaving the orginals scracht free.

In my humble experience, running AnyDVD/CloneDVD and just backing up the movie alone with little compression, writing at 4 or 8X takes about 20 minutes, but if you want to back up a 8Gig movie, it will take about 45 minutes to rip, compress and burn the entire disk.

I don't run anything in the background.
I just hit the write button & then leave PC alone ??
Why is it so slow for me then ??
At what speed does Clone DVD write files to Hard Drive at ?, that's what seems to take the longest time when I'm backing up ?

When I use these two programs my backup times run about 20 to 26 minutes on average. I only back up the main title though, never the complete movie.
If your system has slipped into PIO mode you should reset it back to DMA mode. This will speed things up. I am sure that processor speed and available ram will have some to do with it as well.

He's got more horsepower than my P-IV @1.9 and 1.0 Gig ram so his system is not the issue, unless he is running Nero Scout in the background, or possibly an Anti-virus like Norton's....Can't really see an issue why it takes so long.

With those comp specs you should be getting better time, as suggested by ruger check you DMA. I ran both those drives on my old comp which had a P4 2.4ghz and it was never slow. You might try ripping to your HDD first and then opening Clone and process that way you may get a faster time. You do have some small HDD's check and make sure they are not too full, and do a defrag.

i agree about anydvd + clonedvd, its almost 2 good to be true. it takes me about 20 to 25 min per movie.

I do plenty of space on my HD.......about 80% of free space.
Will check for DMA mode.......
I do have & run McAfee microsoft antivirus always on my PC ??

Just backed up Verbatim DL Walk the Line and only took 38 minutes start to finish No other progs running pPanda shut off and internet disabbled These programs are worth every cent plus. They are cheap compared to money wasted on others. By the way burnt at 4x and perfect layer break at 98%. Single layers at 6x take about 20 mins. start to finish. Chris

Try shutting it down when you are backing up and see if this makes a difference, virus sw will sometimes interfere with the process.

couple questions myself, but first i just burned walk the line also, and to my shock it only took 26 mins. my best time yet. useing anydvd and clonedvd. all my other burns have taken on the average 38 mins, but i dont remember if i have turnd of nortons and spyware....
can someone tell me what the difference between clonedvd and clonedvd2? how do you tell the difference between the downloads from slysoft. i went to try the trial version of clondvd2 and the icon looks like the version i allready have?? any clue.? might sound like a dumb question here but whats the difference between backingup the movie,(cause i know in nero yuo can backup disk) and just copy disk? i know on clonedvd just a few clicks to copy doesnt say much about backing something up

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Just check the version number on Clonedvd to make sure you have the latest version. 2892 is the latest one.

Before backing up a disc I turn off my Anti-Virus and take everything I can out of memory(I have 512MB). Then I use AnyDVD and Clonedvd2 and burn at 8x. Usually takes about 20 to 26 minutes and I only do the main movie.

I have backed up in as little as 14 minutes. I was making it for a kid who wanted me to do several movies in one day.
Remarkably all but one came out great. It does take longer if you have to shrink it down though.
Light is the only thing darkness cannot hide.

Well I disabled all anti-virus & Firewalls before backing up SkyHigh.
Movie only, @ 4X, total process took 50 minutes.
Better than before, but does that sound about right ?

You are getting closer, next time try running windows task manager and look at what other processes are running in the background sucking up CPU and memory.Some spyware will hog resources...Just trying to bounce ideas out to see if anything clicks or triggers a response..Spybot is a good program to remove unwanted stuff.

That's good for 4x but you could cut the time down even more by using 8x just don't go over 8x. I use 8x and get very good backups.

I do have Spybot, but it's not always running in background, I think ?
I'll run task manager, to see what's running.
@taylor30......I'm using Verbatim DataLifePlus -R's rated @ 8X ,
can I still burn @ 8X's ?
Also I currently have 1.5 ghz of memory on my PC(check my sig.)
was thinking about buying another stick of 512 ghz.
Really cheap right now @ Fry's Electronics.

Yes, You can burn up to 8x. Just set the speed to 8x or Maximum. I use TDK and Phillips rated at 8x.
