Hello gjl2002,
thank you so much for responding so quickly i do appreaciate it and, all that all the wonderful and talented members has help me out in my learning experience. Anyway i have only used AnyDVD and clone dvd2 2 or 3 times so i am a new comer. the software was bought and i do have the latest updates. I have found i gotton better quailty with DVD R+ DL then DVD R +. I do know there is a quailty loss do to the compression. so i guess it's up to the person him or herself what they want and looking for. I also know people have been pushing DVD Rebuilder and CCS-SP or CSS Basic. I do know that DVD Rebuilder is a encoder and Clone Dvd 2 is a transcoder. For being a transcoder it not to far behind the encoder. There are different like night and day and apples and oranges. What i am asking now is as a newbie things sometimes gets confusing with all the different kinds of software out there. I am sure you understand were i am coming from. I think what i need to do before exploring other programs is "GIVE AnyDVD AND CLONE DVD 2 A CHANGE". Now let me ask you this much please after you burn your copy what size tv are you watching the movies on. any help would be real nice as well as helpful thank you again

at the moment i just use a 25" tv. so the compression doesnt effect my viewing.
if you are going to get or already have a big tv you are probably better off burning on DVD DL then you will not lose quality by compressing. from what i understand dvd rebuilder is one of the best for keeping the quality when using single layer discs.
although dual layer discs are more expensive they are probably worth the extra so as you can keep the quailty of the original. clone dvd will allow you to burn to dual layer.

Hello again,
You just said a few things that people never said and it makes sence. Dvd rebuilder is for preserving the quailty "IF" your burning on a "DVD5" and will be watching it on a larger screen. Now if you know your going to be watching it on a larger screen you can burn them to a DVD R + DL which are more "MONEY" but no "COMPRESSIOIN" so the "QUAILTY THERE" so in this case the choice is mine right. I can eather buy DVD REBUILDER And CCS or the Basic or just buy a DVD R + DL and save the expensive of the programs............... i think for me DVD R+ DL when i know what it will be watched on. and you know something you SO SO right clone dvd 2 handels both "FORMAATS" and handels them well. I did just bought a 500 gig lacie external hard drive. this is great at least i can have them saved then and which MEDIA and SIZE i choice to burn them on i have them on hand. i have read so so many forms people have sent to me but YOU ROCK MAN TY so much.

Just my two cents on the subject, but I use Rebuilder Pro/CCE Basic for the larger jobs that require a lot of compression, yet I have also been splitting the movie to two dvd-5's, with no compression and just using the switching disks moment as a break, especially with longer movies that are 2 1/2 hours to 3. Cheaper than DL's, I still will use DL's, but just more conservatively. Two of my Dvd 5's are 40-50 cents, compared to DL's (picked up 30 when Best Buy had their's on sale) $2.00.
@brysonj, Ya know I haven't found anything that CloneDVD 2 doesn't handle, even with Chicken Little, it fixed the problem vob's and had a perfect copy. It's #2 in my favs for progs. Worth the investment with the team of AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2. I have to correct something I said in a previous post about the menu's being used with CloneDVD 2 in movie only and that Recode 2 cannot when you reauthor, but actually you can disable eveything you do not want to use, except for movie and menus with recode 2 and it will play flawlessly as well. Learn soemthing new everyday. Have a good one.

Ihad a G.E. standalone as well, wouldn't play very many DVD+/- R disks, got rid of it, got a Philips 793C player 4 years ago, played everything, replaced it with a $39.95 Toshiba player, this will play anything. I agree with Polo1967, take a few of your disks down to your local electronics store and give a few models a test drive and see what happens.
I have been using Clone DVD2/AnyDVD and have yet to see anything that these two won't handle that was not caused by a defective disk.
