Now that is unfortunate. That piece you sent me was quite good and the best way to learn writing is to read well written material and to practice with a journal or short stories. No one writes like the Brits! I'm an avid reader ... particularly of horror, occult novels etc. I always look for British authors; with a few notable exceptions, American authors suck ... some are good "story tellers" like Ann Rice, but they just can't turn a sentence like a british author.
Edit: I put my second bitch of the day in the wrong thread but what the hell, I guess I'll leave it!
Second bitch of the day: I was in center city on my lunch break and went to one of these fancy high end audio/video stores. They had these special seats for gaming that are close to the floor with sound systems built right in etc. I was curious about the sound system so I tried one and couldn't get out; one of the salesmen had to help me. Damn embarrassing!

@ Ripper.
No not at all..... literature just requires you to be able to write VERY fast, pick out a load of useless meaningless crap from some rubbishly written piece of writing, and manipulate it into something cheesey that its not meant to mean, then comment on it.
Like i said, i can do English language AND English literature, i just prefer Language because it requires creativity, and thats where my creativity lies.
@Gerry.
In our school curriculum, there are two different exam papers giving us two different qualifications. One paper is English Literature, where you have to study poems and very short stories, then answer an exam question by writing an essay about the question.
Thats the one i hate, because its pointless and exaggerated.
Then theres English language, where you have to do a piece of writing, painting a brilliant beautiful canvas only with words on a piece of paper, descriptions, vivid imagery, everything. Brilliant. I love that. Thats like the piece i sent you.
Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

Well, I don't feel that is in any way harder, I was just saying, that for reasons you just stated, it is sometimes looked upon as the "harder" of the two..
I'm not a massive fan of analysing texts though (it depends what text, I suppose). I, too, prefer the more creative aspects of english but I have come to learn that it's all part of the course, it seems.. At the mo we're writing an analytical essay on Romeo and Juliet which counts for 5% of both my Lang. and Lit. GCSEs.. Not the best, but it is better than my last analytical essay text, which was Dracula - Eugh, so boring.
I've been quite lucky to have good english teachers all through my school life though (with the exception of Year 7) which has helped.
:-)

@Chris...thank you for the good wishes my friend. They did a fasting blood sugar yesterday as well as bloodwork for liver and/or pancreas functions; I should have the results tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, I have to go for further tests; the doctor said I'd be there for at least three hours so I'm guessing its a glucose tolerance test. With the exception of grossly sweet things like pastry, they don't want me to refrain from my usual today saying it could throw off tomorrows test so as it stands, its still "wait and see". He did say that it might not be as bad as my reaction seemed to indicate ... I gained 30-35 pounds after I quit smoking so I've been on a diet to lose the weight and lost 20 lbs ... I really pigged out on this chocolate cake from the best bakery in the city (God was it good!) but after having been on a diet for the last several weeks combined with having a "borderine" problem to begin with the sudden ingestion of a large amount of sugar may have caused some sort of shock to the system. Guess I'll know soon enough! I'll keep you posted.

I know the feelings of the sweets. I'll go so long behavingand all at once I'll have a craving for that big dinner and all the trimmings and say what the hell mise well have the desert too since I already blew it.It's bad enough everyday with the seniors bringing in home made cookies and cakes so I take them so as not to hurt their feelings and pass it on to others. But the one I can't resist is the one lady about once a month brings me a loaf of home made banana nut bread [which I've always been crazy about]and she has been bringing me since I've worked here before I found out about the diabetes.I always half to have a piece of that with some butter on it.I weighed 275 at the onslaught and now am at 212 the least I've weighed since the 60's.I need to quit smoking again but the last time I gained over thirty pounds.Chris

SOON THIS MIGHT BE A FACT IF THE RIAA GETS ITS WAY
Quote: RIAA Claims Music On Car Radios Meant Only For Original Vehicle Owner!
Trade Group Vows To Go After Passengers Who Illegally Share Soundwaves.
The Recording Industry Association of America announced today it would be expanding its crackdown on copyright infringement by suing family members, hitchhikers and carpoolers.
Lawyers for the RIAA maintain that the radio in each car was never meant to be listened to by anyone else except the original owner of the vehicle.
Therefore, any additional passengers who listen to music on the radio in another individual?s car are doing so illegally and without the express permission of the copyright holders of the respective songs that are broadcast.
RIAA attorneys were preparing to go to Federal District courts across
the country to have subpoenas issued to every car maker in America in the hopes of forcing them to disclose the names and addresses of all purchasers from the last 20 years.
?We think this is a no brainer,? said an RIAA spokesperson who declined to be identified. ?These drivers have been illegally sharing music on their radios and their passengers have been getting a free ride for way too long,? he continued.
Legal representatives for the RIAA also warned that they would
especially be targeting the ?big fish? like charter bus drivers and RV
owners who blatantly turn up the radio volume allowing others to hear.
In addition, RIAA lawyers said they were hoping to get a court order to
exhume the bodies of Scottish physicist James Clerk-Maxwell, who
developed the theory of electromagnetic waves and Guglielmo Marconi, who discovered and harnessed wireless radio in order to sue both corpses for unfair business practices.

Record Companies Still Losing Money, So RIAA Has A New Scapegoat Target
Artists and labels seek royalties from radio
With CD sales tumbling, record companies and musicians are looking at a new potential pot of money: royalties from broadcast radio stations.
For years, stations have paid royalties to composers and publishers when they played their songs. But they enjoy a federal exemption when paying the performers and record labels because, they argue, the airplay sells music.
Now, the Recording Industry Assn. of America and several artists? groups are getting ready to push Congress to repeal the exemption, a move that could generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually in new royalties.
The decision to take on the volatile performance royalty issue again highlights the rough times the music industry is facing as listeners abandon compact discs for digital downloads, often listening to music shared with friends or obtained from file-sharing sites.
?The creation of music is suffering because of declining sales,? said RIAA Chief Executive Mitch Bainwol. ?We clearly have a more difficult time tolerating gaps in revenues that should be there.?

NO..as there would not be as the video and sound are working through cards..
the video and sound control on board is controled through the chip-set chip
so ye may as well say it on one chip.
i changed the chip b-4 when my eyes were ok....i do have a backup new mother board..when or if it dies i will change the board.
