i am not sure what you mean by the red marks or black and white. Its sony memory stick pro duo. high speed 2gb magicgate. I hope its real. also i looked on back of the insert and they said where the black is, there should be no white spots. i don't see any. i think its real too. But I only paid $68 US for it including shipping. So idunno. any other ways to tell?

I bought a fake memory stick from an Australian seller, but later on, I found that he is an international student from Singapore. As I told him that if he does not admit and refund, I will go to Sony supplier for their legal action. that's what he told me.

As he said, nearly all the "Australian seller" are international students/unemployees, in order to raise money, they asked their family to ship those fake PRo Duo to Australia and then resell in Australia ebay.

Why he register an Australian account, I guess that an Australian account could get higher bidding price. In fact, I don't care whether it is fake as long as it functions. If I want to buy another one, I will fake buy from international sellers cuz why we need to pay them to ship the same product to Australia and get higher price???

Don't know how many times I have to say this...

If you're going to buy the card online (ebay), buy only from an American seller, or at the very least, not the asian market. Do not buy a Sony, buy a Sandisk. INSIST on the warrenty card, and ask the seller questions such as "Is this a genuine Sandisk card, because I am not interested in a fake, and so forth" If he replies yes, keep the emails. Purchase only with Paypal (as it will help get back your money in event that it is a fake.) and from sellers that offer insurance.

As soon as you get the card, register it. If it goes through, your good, if not, its a fake. If it goes through and you're still feeling a bit paranoid, call Sandisk and confirm. Once its registered though, even if it is a fake, they'll have to replace it if it breaks (I asked, but they said that you can only register a real card anyway) providing it breaks during the 5 year warrenty period.

If it is a fake, demand your money back. Email ebay, forward the emails as well as their Paypal policy, and get your money back. No risk involved buying online if you go about it the right way.

I thought I saw a link for a 2 gig MS from Sandisk for $80 and then there was a $20 mail in rebate. Anyone see that and can you post the link? I would like 1 from there. Also, can you buy more than 1 from that site and still get the rebate, or is it one per customer? I would appreciate if someone posted the site again, since I looked and couldn't find it. Thank you.

Thank you 3d.... I will be sure to order one as soon as their website is back up (currently down for maintainance). I hope the mail in rebate is still available. That is a great price for a sandisk MS. 1 thing. I heard that the Sandisk MS's are faster than the sony ones. True, False? Also, I heard that its a lot harder to get fake ones. T or F? So this website that is selling them? Real or fake? I heard they are pretty well known, so I would think they are real, but you never know these days. Can anyone share some info on this matter? Thanks.

True, I have heard many people saying they are faster.

They are real

To tell if they are real, it should come with a 5 year warrenty register it with the code you get while buying and if its succesful, its real. Even if its fake and you've succesfuly registered they would still have to replace it

Hey guys thanks for a great informative thread. I was linked here from a different board and was about to buy one of these 'cheap' sticks, but now I'm starting to think twice.

Also I'd like your opinion on storage capacity, there are a bunch of auctions on ebay that claim 'Available Storage Capacity: 1.85 GB' such as the one here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-2GB-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-Card-2G-PSP-Mob...

Would this supposed capacity be considered a fake stick or a real one?

Thanks

OK, we have the tips for fake memory stick. But still I have no idea, what are the disadvantages if I use the fake one when compared to its price.

Well if you use a fake one, i twill break down in maybe 1-3 weeks, the longest ever fake stick is about 4-6 months, only for the well made fake memory sticks.

I'm curious, which board is this?

And the memory stick looks pretty fake. You can tell also by looksing at the sellers feedback.

I had just bought a sandisk 1GB memory card from ebay form user wmh011177. I thought that the 99.5% approval rating was enough security for my purchase.

When I got my memory card, the box was very flimsy and looked like it was suited for the Asian market. There was no imprint of any sort of serial number on the back of the card. There is also no way for me to tell how much memory is on the card, because my computer says that it can't be read. In propertis, it says 0 bytes of free space.

Have my worries become a reality? was I dealt the counterfeit card? I am livid. I sent out an email to wmh011177. Hopefully I will get a response. Anyone have any comments? Thanks
