OK...so I'm new to AnyDVD, but have backed up a few DVDs thus far no problem. However, now everytime I try to back one up, I get this error:

"Read Error! Ignore read errors?

Clicking NO will abort. Clicking YES will continue and there will be no more warnings."

I click NO and it aborts, I click YES and it looks like it's burning, but the "time to burn" keeps increasing. I left it on all day, came home, and no progress had been made.

I'm using the newest version 5.9.6.0, have Windows XP w/SP2, an HP burner, lots of RAM, etc...

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any luck. I've been looking everywhere to see if anyone else has this problem and can't seem to find a solution.

Any ideas?

Make sure the disc is clean
Try using DVD Decrypter to rip the files,
(with AnyDVD running of course),
Instead of using the built in ripper.

I had a similar problem using the built in ripper with AnyDVD.
Cheers!

I decided to try the ripper in AnyDVD last night and it indicated that rip time would be 48 minutes on pulp fiction. I cancelled and ripped with DVDdecrypter in under 14 minutes with AnyDVD running in the background.

DVDdecrypter is a fabulous ripper and burner.

Is DVDFab Decrypter the same as DVD Decrypter? I know DVD Decrypter is no longer available.

Also, I'm not sure I know what you mean by having AnyDVD running in the background while running DVD Decrypter? AnyDVD won't even run without giving errors...

And what program is most recommended to burn 1:1 copies on to DVD-9 discs, and occassionally compress the films onto DVD +/-R? One that can also burn episodic DVDs. Thanks for the help!

Lets see...

AnyDVD is a driver that when activated will show a fox head icon in the task tray. If you open it from there you can use the built in ripper. If you just leave it in the task tray, it is running in the background. You do not need to do anything else to it. Once it is in the task tray, insert the movie into the drive that needs to be ripped. AnyDVD's fox head will flash pale, and then go back to deep red. The encryptions have been neutralized.

Now you open the ripper, either DVDFab decrypter or DVDdecrypter (not the same animal) and rip to the folder of your choice. Get DVDdecrypter here: http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/

While DVDdecrypter is no longer being supported, it is still one of the greatest rippers and burners out there. With AnyDVD running in the background, it will rip almost anything.

Use the guide link in my signature to bbmayo's site and read the useage guides for DVDdecrypter and DVDShrink. Fantastic information which will have you doing backups in short order.

Cheers.
