Jerry - First, here's wishing you and your family a very safe and happy holiday. From all of us out here in cyberland, we really do appreciate your help in keeping our FTA systems going.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I finally got around to downloading the Vortex file and I placed the bin on my SD card, but it wouldn't load. Do I need to do something special once I select it using the SD Memory from the menu or do I need to load it from my PC? I'm currently running a Sept version of Vortex, which is working but requires daily key updates. I'm hoping this new file will allow autoroll to work.

Thanks again for everything.

If I remember right, there was a boot file update for the 3500 that required the use of a PC. It couldn't be done from the SD card. What I don't know is if that Vortex file contains the boot update that I read about. Did it look like it had 2 parts to the download??

Merry Christmas to everyone at Afterdawn.

Jerry...I was wondering if i could get your input on this...I love my pansat 3500 settup but i am really missing HD Channels. Pansat is releasing an HD receiver next yr but the price tag is over $500. I was wondering if you have any experience with replacing the pansat setup with a PC (PCI Card). Is it possible to get the full channel lineup that i get currently with PANSAT and add HD Channels with a PC acting as the recevier...I've been doing a lot of reading (my head is going to explode) but I am very confused with DVB-S vs ATSC Tuner, blah, blah and can't get a handle on this...Thank you for any assist.

Sorry, but I haven't played with any PC tuner cards that claim Hi Def. I know the Pansat model is coming out and Viewsat has their unit out to some people for testing also. As more models come out the prices should drop somewhat. I would wait it out for a while.

Can someone please help.
I'm new to the game and have learned a lot trying to set my 3500 up but cannot reach the CAS menu as I do not have the option of the second pin in Parental control or by using 8282 on my remote.

I've loaded in the bin file from pansat (boot_ltc80__06_1019.bin) is that the proper one.

Thanks for your help in advance!

If you know the new TP where the channel moved to, you can just scan that single TP from the sat setup menu. If you don't know where the channel moved to, then a complete rescan may be necessary. Clear all channels and rescan. You may be able to find your missing channels at this link below on the Lyngsat chart, then scan the TP shown. Just keep in mind the It may take a few days for Lyngsat to update their chart.

As to the sports channels, I think they are still playing with packet encryptions for some of those. They use different encryption for certain sports events to screw things up.

What doesn't work?? The download link or the program itself. The key programs sometimes go off line for different reasons. They usually come back on later.

Hi Jerry, my friends pansat 3500sd went dead after he used the Last channel button. He said the picture went green and then went dead. It doesn't turn on at all.
Have you heard of this before, would he have to get a jtag?

I have to say that this is the best thread on the net and thanks for all your help.

I just tried it here at work and installed it on this PC. Everything was OK. Both the download and install worked, and then it got the keys as it should.

Try loading the factory bin file and see if that corrects the problem. Then load the latest bin update after that.

Try loading the factory bin file and see if that corrects the problem. Then load the latest bin update after that. This is what to try. Have bin file and loader open on the PC ready to go. Hit the download button on the PC loader and a second later, turn the Pansat back switch on. If the timing is right it should take the bin file. You may need to try it several times since the timing has to be just right.

What exactly did you change yesterday?? Did you change the key numbers or did you install a new bin file? The latest file is 306 and there is a link to it several posts before this one.

I changed the key numbers. No one wil teach me about the bin. I don't know how to update my bin. I still have the old one, and that means I have to change the key everyday to be able to view the channels. The bin I have is from Oct 06. The people I know won't teach me and are keeping it to themself. They just say there is a new bin. They don't have any program to change it. Please help!
