for those types of files, just rename the .IMG file to .ISO so you can use it with usbinsane

Hi,

I allready have a fat PS2 with a 300GB HDD inside, working perfectly, but I made a mistake when I formatted another 300GB HDD for my slim PS2 (which is in a USB external box). I formated it in my fat PS2 (so it's in the PS2 format), instead of using the NTFS format in Windows...

My questions are:
1) Is there a way to convert this HDD to NTFS without deleting all the backups I allready have on it ? (if no, then can I copy the backups using Winhiip from my fat PS2-HDD to my usb NTFS-HDD using Winhiip ?)

2) Is NTFS the right format for using an external USB HDD with USB Extreme ? (I saw, in tutorial that you have to first use NTFS format in windows, then use USBExtreme to re-format the HDD again... so I don't really know if the HDD remains in NTFS or if USBExtreme tranforms its format to another ?)

Regards,
T2J

1. yes. you can use software such as "partition magic" to change the format of a hdd without destroying the data.

2. no, it must be FAT32 (or 16 for drives smaller than 2GB)
*NOTE* do not use XP to format it in FAT32 directly, because it won't let you use all the available space (if it lets u at all) just quick format it in NTFS to allocate the entire size, then using another tool, like usbadvance, properly convert it to FAT32 (though it says NTFS)

also

ok, i've been trying to follow this forum, but sometimes i think it jumps to the fat ps2, and i need the slimline tutorial

so here is where i am at

I have a ps2 slimline
I have an external hard drive
I can obviously download stuff
I think I can get access to a ARMax
I have plenty of ethernet and usb's, but i don't think i have a usb flash drive specifically for the ps2.....will a regular one work?
I have plenty of PSX games

Anyway, I am willing to buy extra stuff if necessary

So here's the question(s)

1. Can the ARMax exploit work at all for the slimline? It seems to be the easiest and cheapest method by far of doing this, so this is the way I would prefer

2. And if not, what is the easiest way I could do this with a slimline

I'm sorry if these questions have been answered before in this forum, but I can't always tell which ps2 model they are talking about

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

I have tried searching this whole forum but i can't seem to find an answer. If I format a 500GB external USB hard drive using the USBAdvance format tool will I be able to use all of the space or does the 127GB barrier apply or is that just a PC issue? Thanks for you help.

Hi everyone,

I am planning to buy magic keys II with Swap Magic disc v3.8

Is that enough to play games of external drives?

Can anyone tell me a reliable source from where I can buy the above?

If you cant post the links here you can PM me

Thanks a lot

I just hooked it up first to Windows XP and formatted with NTFS, then I used the UsbExtreme ul_install for Windows and formatted. I believe then it utilizes all the space on the drive.
That is the way their site said to install.
http://www.hdadvance.com/usb_extreme_how-to-use.htm

I then install games with UsbInsane or UsbExtreme but I prefer UsbInsane.

Yes with SM 3.8 you can play all backups except for DVD9. I haven't come across a game yet that wouldnt play.

And if your planning on USB drive yes that will suffice there also, you would just need to follow the steps at the start of this thread.

Also keep in mind there are other methods instead of magic keys II.
There is a tape method, and a straw method described in this post:

Are there similar products for the XBOX or XBOX 360? (I already have the PS2 one). I figured that for GC there can't be because there's no USB port. Thanks :)

Edit: Nevermind. I have discovered the word "softmod" and a world of possibilities :D

Hey hey all!
First post, and for my first thanks,
THANKS! for not making me blow a load of some chip i'd never need!
Well.
I have a 2GB shit mp3 player I don't need, Flash obviously.
Was wondering if I can use that in place of a Fat32 drive?
Provided a game would fit?
Otherwise I'll wait till I buy my new bike before forking out for a Ext. HDD...

Hopefully you can all help!!!
Thanks =)

Also, another prod in the shoulder =)

Could this work for PS1 games?A
All the aforementioned doo-dah's?

Cause I wanna play some oldschool games,
Like Team Buddies, Rollcage and all...
My ps2 Slim works, but the laser is poked.
Crappy thing.
It's great, to sit down after 13 days of straight work to play something sweet!
