Im a newbie, but wanted to say that this combination has worked perfect for my first 10 burns. AnyDVD runs in background, DVD Shrink saves to harddrive, clonedvd2 burns. Its been simple and Ive had no problems with movies such as underworld revolution, firewall, and apocalypse now - which had to be shrunk by about 50% to fit on a 4.7 disk.(Quality still looks great) Only problem - CloneDVD and AnyDVD are on 21 day trial and now cost $78 to purchase together. I hate to mess with whats been working great but Ill listen to other free perfect combinations?

You don't really need DVD Shrink you know. CloneDVD2 will compress and burn. AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 are $59.00 together at slysoft.com

You can do just about any film with free software. However, I have AnyDVD and it works great. That particular program is worth the money. The Clone DVD is not needed. You may use ImgBurn in combination with ImgTool to burn your disk. However, if you have Nero then that combo is not needed.

Some DVD's may have items on them that you would like removed such as previews, FBI Warnings, etc. You may use free programs such as VobBlanker or PgcEdit to accomplish this. This forum is great for learning how backup DVD's for free. If there is a movie you are having difficulty with, someone here will be able to help you.

Like I said AnyDVD is worth the money. If you are worried about cost then you may skip the Clone DVD. Another great program to get is DVDFab Decrypter. You can find that here: dvdidle.com/free.htm This program is updated regularly. Just remember that if you decide to keep AnyDVD to make sure that it is turned off before running decrypter.

Hi :)

The free option is to use DVDFab Decrypter breaks movie encryption and puts movie onto your HD, DVDShrink to compress and to put the movie into an iso format. then IMGburn to burn the iso image.

Another free excellent tool is VobBlanker you can use it to get rid of the extras like the FBI warning screen and trailers etc...etc...

pazzini is right the freebies a great and will get the job done. DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter or Imgburn. Guide on how to use here, also software

Thanks for the ideas all, and Taylor your right they are $59.99 together. Well, more to think about. I stumbled on this site one night doing some searches and its been the best for great information. Thanks again

I like AnyDVD and CloneDVD especially because once I start the burn I don't have to mess with the computer again except to eject the completed copy. With the free softwares its not a one step process. Unfortunately my trial has run out on the programs and now I need to buy them when I get the money. I'm gonna wait til they have a $10 off special.
