Hi all. Just bought a chipped 360 prem with 20 games from ebay for £380.
Just bought 10 DL verbatim 2.4x
I have a philipsDVDR1628P1 16x DL Burner...
So with the disks and using the games I downloaded from torrents, (yes xtreme games) I should be good to go right?
I mean is my dvd writer good enough??
Also, do I burn at 1 spped if possible or always 2x?
Thanks.

Having read this tutorial including most of the replies I have successfully burned my first back up. This was a great help and if you follow it closely and take note of the best media and burners to use you shouldn't have any problems. Thanks very much.

I know you are all fed up with people who are new at all of this, but can someone please just point me in the direction of how to modify my x360?

You need the dvd drive flashing to play backup games. You can do it yourself or get someone to do it for you. Theres lots of info about for how to go about flashing a drive.

*** just in case anbody was intrested in knowing, memorex double layer disk are the worst to use for backing up your games. You are better off using matrix dl, i think the website is something geek.

Thanks tweeder!!!
I was a total noob when it came to 360 games till I found this thread. Now I'm a burning machine and I owe it all to your tutorial.
Sorry to see you go, hopefully it's not cast in stone and you may change your mind. I can definately see the frustration your facing though.
THANKS!!

Hi, Nice tutorial but I downloaded xbox 360 SS Merger 1.5 and when I tried to run it, it didn't....(says that it can't be initialized?!)
And I can't get on to www.ubclass.org/xbox 360 to get the patches.
Do you know how I can fix these problems or where I can download the patches?

hey everyone, this thread is really good, but i still failed :(
i have a flashed 360.
i have brought games and they work fine, so i brought the same media traxdata - orange/gold in colour.
i have a laptop sont vaio fs115e, so i installed clonecd 5.1.2.9 and i got a pioneer 111d recorder, and an external caddy, with USB 2.0 connection.
i plugged altoghter and the laptop found the new hardware and installed itself. i did have the driver cd in the drive which came with the caddy, but guess that was for win 2k, as thats what the instruction book said.
Anyway i set about, unrarring my game. all excitied, first time doing this, really feeling proud that i could be doing something interesting here. got the 2 files - small .dvd file and the 7gig .iso file.
opened clonecd selected the source had the traxdata in the drive, and select burn. it done 4% then seemed to die - everything went to zero - the buffers the burn speed everything. and stayed like it for over 20 mins. but it didnt freeze as the timner telling me how long it had been going for still went up, and i could here the burner whiring, but the light was out ( i think)
what made the buffer die?
what have i done wrong?
i explored the driver cd, and ran the .exe for usb2.0 (but i would have guessed ths was enabled on the hardware already being win xp???)
i went to install the caddy driver but it asked if i wanted to uninstall the caddy, so i declined that.
I could really do with some help here, especially as its my first attempt, i would like it to go pretty smooth. the game is splinter cell alsstars PAL version. nothing in the .nfo reg SS files so guess the download is good to go as it is.
kind afterdawners. please get me on the right track, i am picking up more traxdata dual layers tomorrow hopefully.

Hi all
Just about to get an xtreme 360 for the kids, my dvd burner is a GWA-4161B (DVD+-RW Dual Layer Combination Drive) i assume this will be ok for "backing" up my disks as i have read a lot about pioneer and verbatim. What disks would you recommend for this drive.
Cheers for your help.

As long as you guys have the newest firmware, like 99% of the burners will work because now you don't have to change the booktype of your DVD drive to DVD-ROM.

changed and went for verbatims - same problem, the external burner does 4%,. then it all sort of dies, stays at naught, after about 50 mins it says 100 % complete but burn process failed.
i have now got imgburn, and will try in morning, has anyone burned backups with a laptop and an external writer?
also, is there a way to simulate a burn with clone / imgburn without using a disc? so i can confirm if works or not, thanx.

@giorkarap
make sure it came w/ a .dvd file and is ss patched. if so, open the .dvd file in imgburn or ccd and burn.

indeed it came with a .dvd file(image dvd), but this file is only 33 kb
should i burn this file with the image file(image.000)?
according to the tutorial if the file is a rar file(mine is), i dont need to patch it, but how can i confirm that it is indeed patched?

im guessing you downloaded the game,
check the games nfo file, if it has one
or go to the site you got it from and read the notes it should say if its patched.
