Been awhile since started thread after ripped a new one after stating AnyDVD not being a ripper, no pun intended. I since have SEEN THE LIGHT and understand a ripper included although not the greatest.
On topic I bought Basic Instinct 2 and had problems using AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 but went to Slysoft and downloaded beta 6.0.2.1 and so far working flawlessly in background using good old DVD Decrypter.
Haven't tried free progs yet and if anyone has done it then I'll wait for their input as usually don't experiment until after have backup already.
As far as worth buying, well we'll just have to see. Usually rent before buy so I spend my money wisely on movies I keep.

i used AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 running in the background and dvdshrink and had no problem
