My 40GB worked for 9 DAYS!!! I am so pissed because I imported it from Amazon USA to Trinidad where I live. Now I have to pay shipping to Amazon and from amazon to florida. i think the blu ray laser died. it shows the lil circle in the top right corner but no game shows up.

hey guys second post regarding this same issue over the ps3 just stopping reading discs. I figure that I can get more help from other forums because the folks over at sony aren't too quick to respond and when they do it is always call sony. I did some checking and I think I am going to end up replacing the laser lens. As far as it goes and nobody will answer my question on the other boards, these laser lens replacements you can get from ebay, they should work with no problem? (I know it says ps3 replacement but if a scammer is wanting to get you to buy something he can say what he wants)There is no warranty remaining so I am not worried about voiding something that isn't there ;) I just don't want to buy something that isn't going to work. as far as replacing it, eh no big problem there, I have poked around in playstation 1 and playstation 2 systems before, and I could replace the lens no problem. But just to put it out there, I was doing a search for this problem and came across the yahoo answers section. A user over there said to turn off the information download that is up in the right corner, but seriously, it isn't that simple is it?

Ye, you should buy a new lens/diode. There are few on ebay for 40-60 euro. I dont think that its difficult to replace it.
U can als wait untill they hack PS3, so u can play from HDD (ps3news are making huge progress)

Hi guys,
Im having trouble with playing online on Resistance: Fall Of Man. I can connect to the internet and everything but when Im about to play online on the game itself it says disconnected and takes me back to the game main menu.
Does it have anything to with the fact UPnP is unavailable? I need advice...

yeah actually cost 58 usd (with shipping) got it in the mail. I was a bit worried what with all the small connections and stuff, but when I finally got it all back together and turned it on I would have to say when I put that cd in (didn't have any games handy.)and it popped up music cd and started playing, I was freaking ecstatic.
next step and much easier, get a bigger hard drive.

I was also planning on getting 320gb harddrive for 120, but whats the point when u cant even use homebrew or play backups. Ill wait

yeah the only reason i want to upgrade is because it seems that some of the ps3 games want to take up some space when you play them (DMC4 comes to mind) of course I know 60gb is a lot but heck I would settle with a 120.

hello people my name is joe i have a playstation3 since november and i can get into the playstation store but when i wanna play my mate online in a ranked or unranked match it sometines only lets me flick threw the teams and sometimes it wont let me do any thing any suggestions?

Hi Everybody
I bought a PS3 (60GB Version) 11 months ago, I?ve started having problems with it, I?m not sure if it?s the PS3 or the HDMI cable I can assure you its not the LCD TV for sure as I can play Blu Ray, Divx, DVD perfect
When ever I play call of duty 4 on my PS3 the screen goes all fuzzy and green, it?s like a static effect, I don?t know how to describe it but ive taken video clips of it with my phone
The problem always happen in the middle of the game when I?m playing call of duty 4
I?ve attached a video clip of what actually happens to my screen when im? playing C.O.D.4,
The thing is if it?s the PS3 I can take it back. The HDMI cable works perfect as all Blue ray movies plays crystal clear with no ghosting images; The Call Of Duty 4 PS3 Game DVD is Brand-New with no scratches on it
Im Confused, can anyone shed some light on it for me, please checks the link below, if you can view the video clip and give me some feedback would be much appreciated
I have taken a video clip of it with my N95, you may need to install MP4 Codec to view it. As it asked me to install it

both my controllers are on low battery. it sucks cuz extra controllers dont come with a charge cable. the wigging out is not fun and happens still, but less.

while playing call of duty 4, if there is any action going on the screen, flash grenades, flash from gun fire etc or any real graphics going down, my PS3 ALWAYS freezes up on me. no other game has ever gave me a problem, jusr COD4.
has anyone else experienced this? ive heard from friends that it may be the firmware. i have a pelican air flo cooler and a usb air flow cooler. so it can not be the system being hot as the guy at game stop told me. (he wanted 49.99 for the pelican AFC) so i think he was trying to hustle me. i got one off ebay for 4.99.
anyway i have a 60GB and 2.30 update, but the problem also happened with previous firmware. is this crap normal?
would you like the quickie, or the full minute and a half?

Hi,
If anyone could help me with my problem I would really appreciate it. I have a 60-GB PS3, with the most current update. Ok, now it was working well but when after downloading the latest patch for COD-4 today and after playing it for a few hours, less than 2 Im sure, it froze (no surprise). So I turned it off and left it there. Later tonight I turn it on and it all goes well and as soon as I enter the PS-store, it just freezes up and the screen goes odd: it becomes all blocky (like when you're watching some worst quality video) and controller doesn't respond either its just keeps blinking.
So I turn off the PS3 and turn it back on, black screen and controller's lights will keep on blinking when I press PS button. I repeated this couple of times with no luck but after a image appears on tv but even worse, more blocks of green and rest of it black but sound was there. Afterwards same problem, black screen and no controller response.
**So, I think that COD-3 patch must have done something to PS3 but Im not sure, cause my Ps3 never had any freezing issues before this game. In any case, is there any home remedy that I can try or should I give it Sony for repair...though I dont have a warranty but I dont want to loose 60Gb either.

Hi :-)
same thing happened to me...ps3 kept freezing and the screen goes all funny with blocks and crackly static effect screen, and it still does the same,,i did post on this forum previously and i think it could be the HDMI cable or the COD4 Blu-Ray disc,,but i dunno...ill look into it

my ps3 wont connect to the wireless internet and i dont no why? i ran the connection test and it just says it has failed at obtaining the ip address!
please can some one help?

assuming that it is indeed detecting your network? make sure you have entered the wep key correctly. i can't off hand think of anything else other than an incorrect wep key maybe something in your router's settings.

when i run the connection test it wont even get past OBTAINING IP ADDRESS , it says the exchange has run out?

if you have protection on your router, try removing it and connecting. start from the bottom and work your way up. if a neighbor has a non protected network, ask them if you can connect,(no permission is a felony ;D )
then report back to here we will see what we can do for you.

i changed a setting in my hdmi settings, cod4 seems to be playing way better now. killed 100 times and no freeze :D sometimes it freezes during loading but whatever, at least i can complete a mission or start back at a check point now.

I'm currently having an issue with my PS3 and hoping to get some help. Yesterday I purchased a LG HDTV LCD 1080p 47". The problem is the PS3 gives me glitchy,flickering pixels across the screen in 1080p mode. All other resolution modes arent an issue. I had read the part of the thread pertaining to grounding problems and bought a 3 prong grounding adapter from radio shack and tried that with no luck. Tried using a different outlet,different surge protector and still nothing. Was watching spiderman 3 in 1080p on the PS3 last night and had no issues. I contacted playstation about the issue and the response I got was laughable. The PS guy told me to just play in 1080i. Not exactly the kind of help I was looking for. Anyone have any advice I can try?

Hey...ok, so I'm away from home and I'm pretty bored and the TV where I'm at is old as hell...the only kind of input it has is a coaxial jack in the back of it. I tried using the vcr which is plugged into the tv but all that comes on is a blue screen. Idk what the problem is...could it be that since I usually have the settings on HDMI could it just be automatically set to that even when I have the usual analog cables plugged in?
Pls help and thnx in advance

When you go to turn on the PS3 hold in the power button for about 10 seconds until it beeps, it will auto detect and reset your video and audio settings.

It sounds like a faulty cable or connector, try blowing some compressed air into both the TV's and PS3's hdmi slots to get rid of any dust/debris, if that doesn't work try replacing the cable, preferably with a different brand.
