Hi I am trying to flash my Hitachi v59 with the C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth~ firmware.
I have not flashed my drive before (bought modded) but am taking the plunge. I don't have the original firmware but I understand that its not needed for this (apperently).
I'm trying to flash from the command prompt. The folder name is X-LG and is located at c:\x-lg. So far so good. BTW the xbox is in B mode and can be seen etc...
I right click on the folder and enter command prompt and it seems that no matter what I try it just keeps saying that FLASH24S.BAT is not recognised. Have also tried Flash21s.bat.
The cmd I am trying to use is "FLASH24s.BAT F 1672" (F is the correct drive).
I am getting no joy and have spent nearly a day trying to get this working. Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong. Please remember that i'm a n00b at this firmware lark so detailed instructoins would be very welcome :)
Thanks in advance, Jon

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated because i'm ready to fling this out of the window

Hey..I use my SH-D162C driver with Xbox Backup Creator to make the image and backup my XBOX 360 games and until now Had any problems with IT.
I tryed to backup TOM CLANCY'S GHOST RECON 2 and I cant have this done.
Usually when u make a image you have 2 files one small and other one around 6 or 7 gb. This time the xbox backup creator only gave me one file (THE BIG one).
When I try to backup (burn) give this msg
"unable to determinate image type"
I burned it using img burn and when I use in my xbox..
says''' " Disc damege or dirty"
Anyone can help with this one???
Thanks

Ok,
i always just burn the big 7gb file,
its easy to do with xbox backup creator.
(Im using v2.5 by the way)
When you click on the write tab on xbox backup creator you should see about half way down the page, an Xbox ISO Type title with 3 checkboxes underneath.
Check the Xbox 360 check box
now you should be good to go with burning the .000 file!
If that doesnt work try extracting using SCHTROM360XTRACT

Since you said your X-LG folder is at c:\X-LG then do this
click start, go to run and type cmd.exe
type this in:
cd\ {Hit Enter}
cd\x-lg {Hit Enter}
restore.bat {Hit Enter}
After all that gets done type
flash24s.bat F 1234 {Hit Enter}
Hope this solves this issue.
Also make sure the firmware file you got was legit and contained all the files. If in doubt, un rar the original file again.
Oh yeah, another note: I have noticed sometimes that flashing from a directory (in this case the X-LG folder) the commands don't seem to work sometimes. If you still are having problems and have gotten this far on this, then extract the X-LG folder to the C: drive so when you pull up a directory of the C:\ drive you will see the contents of the X-LG folder... along with the Documents & Settings folder and Windows folders...
Once you have that done, flash24s.bat f 1234 WILL work

hi all,
I have read through the faqs and textbook.pdf before i decided to post here. My drive is Hitachi 0078 (October 2006).
I have tried the following methods but I am still unable to get past the reading phase.
1) Booted up xbox360 drive with PC with Slax version 2.1 disc. Drive was recognised as I saw the "Thanks to Kev" while it was booting. However, there were some errors during the booting phase and at one point in time, it was trying to spin up the disc and I ejected the disc to speed up the process.
2) Shutdown the pc and rebooted it again. Windows XP recognised the Hitachi drive instantly and I proceeded on to flash the drive with firmware tool ver 3.1b. Just to note that I ejected the drive several times during the windows loading bar as this was one of the steps indicated in textbook.pdf.
3) started the firmware tool software and I clicked on the dump firmware function and the system starts to hang on me the minute i clicked "save"
Now, I have tried with the following sata chipset and the results are the same:-
1) Abit NF7-S (Silicon Image 3112)
2) Asus M2N-E (Nforce 570)
3) Via 6421A (Sata Raid Card)
If I try the option 3 in the Asus motherboard, the strange thing is that once my drive is in mode b, my system would hang at POST. For the Abit motherboard, no such instances occured but regardless of that, the I am still unable to read the firmware.
I have also tried running the software in safe mode but it's still the same results. I have also disabled the RAID functions in the cards except for Via 6421A raid card which I do not have the option to do so.
If anyone have a solution for me, please let me know.
Thanks.

and in addition, any difference between classic and raw dump?
For the guide, it seems I can only do it with Raw Dump?

Please could someone help me, I have just got the Samsung SH-D162C With KREON 0.81 so i don't need to open my xbox to read games, i Have a Sony aw g170a dvd rewriter and a hitachi drive in my xbox 360. I have used xbox backup 2.5v to read my orginal game so i end up with two files a big one and small one, i have used img to burn the file off and cd clone for some reason xbox backup won't work with the burning part. I downloaded drive tools so i could change my drive to dvd rom . The DVD+R DL disks i'm using are ok and with both programs for burning they both go to 100% and say completed, the thing is when i put the game in my xbox 360 it just comes up with clean disk and disk is unreadable.
What am i missing out to make the games work??
Help would be great as these DVD+R DL are not cheap.

You never mentioned if you upgraded your 360 firmware DVD drive. You are doing all the right thinks but your 360 DVD drive needs to be upgraded also, so that it recognizes your backup disc.

Maybe your media. Try the Verbatum DVD +R DL only. I have tried others and they don't work.
