Everyone needs to forget bout PDX... Their mindless rants about what they want us to believe are child play.. Check out the guys in the other forums...They seem to have made more sense in the Last week than PDx has since the PS3 came out....

Hey Jlhfit, you say "Check out the guys in the other forums...They seem to have made more sense in the Last week than PDx has since the PS3 came out....".

What forum? Who? Where? Is there a link?

I'm hesitant to buy an external hard drive (not internal, because I don't really see the point in that - it costs more for less storage) because I don't know if there will be certain limitations as far as compatibility goes. For instance, I've read about the formatting of the hard drive (I know that you can always change that) and also the speed, such as the PS3 working best with a hard drive at its own speed (not the 7200rpm one, or whatever it is). And I'm also hesitant to install any stuff like Linux because I'm thinking we might not need it.

*I plan to buy an external hard drive really soon (need it to back up my computer files because I'm going to clean install vista again). I'm hoping I'll be able partition it so that it will be part NTFS and part FAT32, for use with both my laptop and PS3. The only thing I'm unsure of is the rpm speed the PS3 can handle/works best with. Will a faster rpm speed (7200rpm) make things unstable, since the PS3 comes with a 5400rpm drive?
I bought this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet...10080571&catid= .hope it works well with my ps3

Nice.
I got this one.
here
I think they will work. But like I said, I've read somewhere (it wasn't the most reliable place, but still) that the PS3 will work best with hard drives that run at 5400rpm. That's all that is really worrying me.

Ok... 1st I dont know why PS3 neWS BANNed me, all I ask on of the guys, not even a mod... "if he happened to be Paradox giving us hints" Then bam I was banned from posting...... THats a little suspicious.. Seems to me THey are checking out and commenting on our post...
Anyway I came back he to write, that I have been trying and playing with linux....Since PDX cant get it right.... Ok... I have numerous questions... 1st let me start by saying.... I was able to copy swap magic and a ps2 game to my external HDD through Linux.... But I formatted to EXT3.... Ok YD reconizes the drive, but XMB doesnt..WHy??? Will it only reconize FAT32?? and if so..>WTF... thats basically hindering us from loading big game off the drive....
Ok I cant see my hdd in XMB mode now to even test the stuff I have done.... WHat do I do from here???? I am going to change formats back to FAT32 and try the dumps again.... I think that is we can somehow get PS2 game backs working then that will open the door to how the PS3 Loader works.... Please Everyone instead of bashing me and others..... HELP together..... Start putting all your trial and errors here...... Thanks

You have a good point here. But I would have no idea how to help u. I don't want to get in trouble for ne thing, but the mods at that site are harsh. I lose credits all the time.

I wonder how far Hackobell actually is over there and when he is planning to release the thing, because he just said he is quitting from everyday posting and the next time he will post is when he is releasing it.

Ok, now, for all other n00bs out there, I've been searching for this mysterious other forum and this mysterious other guy. It happens to be the PS3news forum: www.ps3news.com

then you go to: PS3News.com > Index > PlayStation 3 Chat > PS3 iSO Loader Progression [DEV Chat ONLY!]

i just got my ps3 and just found out that i can't sign up to the playstation store to download demos and videos and such unless i upgrade to the latest firmware 1.6. well i really don't want to upgrade since i'll be waiting for PDX to release their loader. so the question is is there a way to connect and download them so i can play it off the ps3? thanks.

I smell a fake. Hackobell's method is a bit strange. And when I posted my thoughts ps3news deleted my post.

Why should the xmb even try to access a thing mounted in linux. The xmb doesn't do this, because it's no use for the game os.

And I don't believe that the xmb is running in the background, only the hypervisor is running.
If the xmb ran while linux u wouldn't need to reboot to start linux!

How can we enjoy. We will enjoy when there's a loader.

Hello all,

Just thought I'd drop in here for news from now on. Honestly Ps3news is getting old. I have been going there for news for too long.

Between the popup ads, the banning of people, and the closing of the only forums I found interesting Im sick of the site.

The dev section now contains limited info and nothing that helps me understand anything. Ps3News himself claims to have known how the loader works and said he would let people know if they were on the right track, closed the only OPEN idea forum instead.

Theyre also quick to boot people from their chat if you say something they don't like. (I said something I thought was funny and got banned within my first week on... so much for a sense of humor)

I also personally believe that they tease with info they dont have to keep you visiting their OVER-ADVERTISED site so they can continue to make money. Hell they may even have a loader but IF its released no one will visit their site anymore so it's probably in their best interest to stifle the info as long as possible.

So.. I'm just gonno visit here where ideas flow freely and fre speech prevails!

agreed. ps3news pretty much sucks. and it pales in comparison to afterdawn. :P

EDIT: How do you think I should partition my external hard drive to make best use of it for my PS3? I plan on using at least 200 out of the 500GB for backups of my computer. The other 300 will be for the PS3. The PS3 will have to use FAT32, right? Like, there's no way that we could store it on a NTFS partition? Also, do you think it would be possible/wise to change the partition sizes once data is on them (in case I need more room for my computer/NTFS)? I want to get started on dumping my games, but I need to knwo how to set up my external HD first.

For those of you who are/have dumped games, what program works best? Linux (FC5, YDL) or SAK?

Hey, this may be stupid, but has anyone thought about pooling our money together to hire a professional to crack the ps3?

Oh, come on, just be patient. Let the smart guys play with PS3 a bit longer, I'm sure they will eventualy hack it.

@Jlhfit
oops...that advertising, of the other forum, it didn't occur to me. I'm sorry if I did something wrong there.
I hope your hard work went ok!

Well I didnt want to give more credit to a site like PS3NEws, than they deserve. I started going there cause I found info on what was going on with the PS3 Mod scene, but now they stopped and blocked the average developer from giving their input.... I noticed that after everyone was getting tired of the hint from PDX, average gamer started playing with and finding thing that the so called "god" would even comment on... the all of a sudden a bundle of theroies.. Then Mods at PS3News, block all our development chat with a pointless forum called "development Chat" but its locked and restricted... You can only view the pointless ideas... With all that said.... Goodbye PS3NEWS!!!

On the comment made about hiring someone to do this sh*t and release it... I say its a great Idea... Maybe "someone" out there could develop a site committed to the development of PS3 Moding and ask for donations to help futher his research and development of an ISO Loader and Exploits now and in the future...

Well, if anyone here is interested in starting a PS3 hacking website I have a basic mhtml file that has the pages set up and connected.(It was edited with Microsoft publisher 2007.)
Depending on your standards, all you need to do is to embed a blog into a few pages.
I am willing to share it through MSN messenger.(ask if your interested)

always put off today what you wont do two tuesdays from now!
