From a reputable source. Read all there will be backups on PS3 games on the scene now.
Quote: Tonight CJPC had some freetime and decided to install Linux Fedora Core 5 (PPC iSO) along with PS3 Other OS Installer and the kboot from the CELL-Linux-CL_20061110-ADDON.iso file. Once installed (Installation Tutorial), he logged into the shell and dumped the Extended OS Area (which resulted in 4.0 MB (4,194,304 bytes) by using: dd if=/dev/sdb of=/extendedos.img
Next up, CJPC connected his external USB HDD to his PS3 (since he only has a 20GB stock PS3 HDD) and just (6) days after launch proceeded to dump (read "back-up" to $ony) his Madden NFL 07 PS3 Blu-ray Game Disc (the resulting iSO image is only 7.08 GB (7,597,719,552 bytes)) via the following: dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/mnt/exthdd/imagename.img
If you happen to own a 60GB PS3, you can use this command instead to dump directly to your PS3's HDD: dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/imagename.img
As we mentioned in our Past News, the PS3 Blu-ray Game Discs are currently not readable via Windows Blu-ray drive... however, the Blu-ray movies image fine on one of course. With that being said, the PS3 Blu-ray Game Discs resemble the PSP file format. See for yourself- here are the: Madden NFL 07 PS3 FileList.txt, Madden NFL 07 PS3 ICON0 pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 PIC1 pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 PARAM.SFO pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3LOGO.DAT pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 USRDIR pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 EBOOT.BIN pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 Partial iSO Files pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 TOC Size pic, and Madden NFL 07 PS3 UPDATE pic.
As many recall, the PSP scene began with Paradox dumping and releasing the first PSP UMD iSO images, followed by several other release groups and finally the first image lanchers to play them following shortly thereafter. How long will it take for PS3 iSO images to hit cyberspace? Time will tell, but after this Site News post it won't likely be long! Let the PS3 Game back-up experimenting begin guys!
Getting back to the topic, here are some additional pictures from Madden NFL 07 PS3 courtesy of CJPC: Madden NFL 07 PS3 pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 DATA pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3_DISC.SFB pic, Madden NFL 07 PS3 EBOOT.BIN pic, and Madden NFL 07 PS3VOLUME pic.
In other exciting PS3 news today, Radiskull let us know of a new AdvanceMAME .106 Binary For PS3 released by Jurai. It is basically the emulation code you'd need to use on the Linux in your PS3 to run arcade games, minus any ROMs, and please use our AdvanceMAME .106 PS3 binary is out! for related discussion.

It's going to be like dev hook on psp.
What is fedora to? Is it free?
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

Fedora is a Free Linux OS that can be installed on a PS3. I am probably going to install it later today on mine.
Edit: I am going to sticky this for a little while. I just edited a line and am going to change the title, okay Sniper.

Sorry I didn?t see this earlier but that?s not that much GB for a ps3 game but then again I guess it is just a sports game and there isn?t much difference from the ps2 game only better graphics and minor improvements.

No problem Oner im glad the news is staying.
I wonder how much gb other games are right now? Hopefully u can use this with an external hdd cause i just got a 400gb today for cheap. I wonder how long it will be until we see games playing? Is there dnas for online blocking. I should have a ps3 later today and im gonna buy resistance.

LOL didint sony learn their lesson the first time. I cant believe they have a external hdd for the ps3 yes!
Quote: Is there dnas for online blocking.
Hmm there probably is because ps2 had one (right?) so I dont see why the ps3 wouldent.
Quote: I should have a ps3 later today and im gonna buy resistance.
Yeah I saw resistance fall of man cheap like ten dollars (canadian) less then all the other games....

I looked on the back of the game of resistance in the store, and like ps2 games they say the use dnas. But on the ps3 game they don't say ne thing about dnas. It was weird i guess psp games used dnas but it didnt keep us offline. Ps2 was the only thing that needed patching. Online play is the best.

This is very exiting. I dont really want to update my ps3 so I could devhook like psp. I think this may be why they did not include everything with the system as the first thing it asks you to do when the fisrt time you see the xmb is update and join the sony page.

Ahhh so resistance is 17gb. I think that is pretty good since it is one of the first ps3 games made. Later on in the years they will have more GB most likely.....

I think right now a bluray capacity is 25gb. Reading the specs of the ps3 it says that the discs can be up to 54gb. Then the sony president said that the games will get up to 100gb and be more expensive. The prob is gonna be not enough hdd space.

Yep cool,
There is a lot of info on this subject at ps3news.
Looks like you can hook up the
Seagate Barracuda 750GB Hard Drive to your PS3 woo hoo.
Now I guess all they need to do is exploit the sucker to run the iso's.

ps3news has all the top iso exploiters on their team. I think using the way they got psp iso's to run. I think we should see some progress this week of running something.

Okay guys should i invest in a external HD or a internal HD .i have the 60gb HD.But damm this is very good news but i bet it will be awhile before you can go online. The reason they dont need DNAS this time a round because they can do a simple system update to stop you from coming online and not just booting you off from coming online.
