Not sure this is the correct forum. If not please move to the
proper one.
I use AnyDVD and Shrink together. Up until the last couple of
weeks everything has been okay. I was using 6.0.9.5 and updated
to 6.0.9.7 fine. However when I went to update to 6.0.9.9 after
rebooting the older version was still there. So I restored my
computer to 6.0.9.5 and updated to 6.0.9.9 okay. Then I received
a notice that there was a new version. When I rebooted after
downloading 6.1.0.0 I still had 6.0.9.9. So I restored my
computer to 6.0.9.2 and tried an update. It updated to 6.0.9.9
but not 6.1.0.0.
Is anyone else having this problem? I have contacted Slysoft
but so far don't have an answer.

I haven't updated to the latest version yet, but you should be able to install a new version over the old (not what I would recommend).

I suggest you try doing it the way I always do:
1)Using the add/remove programs function, uninstall the older version of AnyDVD (also have it remove the registration info) and reboot.

2)I like cleaning out all the registry entries left behind by the uninstall, to do this I use a free app called ccleaner, you can get it here... http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.aspx

Instructions - Download the Basic or Slim versions and install. Go to the "Windows" tab, then select "Run Cleaner". Finally select the "Issues" button and select "Scan for Issues" when it finishes scanning select "Fix Selected Issues", then "Fix All Selected Issues".

Notes - The Issues button is a registry cleaner and does not need to be run often. A good time to run it is after applications have been uninstalled.

3)After the registry has been cleaned/fixed, reboot and then install the new version of AnyDVD. Reboot as instructed after the install then apply your key (registration info) given to you when you bought the software.

I always do it this way and haven't had a problem yet:)

I am petrified to run CCleaner. A long time ago someone else suggested that program. I ran it and blew out every media
program on my computer-had to uninstall everything and start over
from the beginning installing one program at a time. It took me
a long time.
So I tried what you suggested but didn't run the registry cleaner.
I uninstalled AnyDVD (but clicked on save the registration when it
came up). Then I rebooted. Went to the slysoft site-downloaded
6.1.0.0 to a file. Then got off the internet. Then I ran the
file and rebooted. I don't know how it did this, but the AnyDVD
it loaded is 6.0.9.9.
I've already purchased AnyDVD twice. The second time was in
Aug. of this year. I don't want to have to buy it a third time.
I copied two files to disc when I purchased it in Aug. The files
are a key and 6.0.4.5. At that time I gave up trying to straighten
out a problem when I was notified my trial period was up. I had
used the program for over a year with no problems, but hadn't saved
the necessary files to disc.

On a one-user license, you only have to buy AnyDVD once. If it is a registered, legal copy, Version 6.100 should download over Version 6.099. I don't believe any program is interfering with your installation, since you have a recent version that loaded. It may seem obvious, but the computer should be rebooted after the upgrade. If the hard drive is setup for multi-users, make sure that a copy of AnyDVD is not running as another user, at the time of installation.
If all else fails, I suggest you contact Slysoft support.

The computer is set up for only one user-me. I have rebooted every
time I have tried to download 6.1.0.0. I have used this program
for over two years now. In my opinion it is one of the best
programs available. I paid the $39 twice now.
I have contacted Slysoft. Have not gotten an answer to my question
yet.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it seems like
the problems all started just after the notification that they now
how a Microsoft acceptable signature.

First, you should of only had to pay for AnyDVD once, the key you get is all you need to keep the software and keep it updated (just reapply the key when ever you reinstall AnyDVD and have not saved the registration info created by the key file). Don't misplace the key or you may need to pay for the software again to get a new key.

Second, don't be afraid to use ccleaner, it's completely safe, it's setup to remove/fix only those registry entries that are safe to remove. I feel that there maybe a problem with your computer's registry that's causing the problem your having with AnyDVD, so using ccleaner could be the answer/fix. Use the program as I have stated above and all should be ok. Remember, you're cleaning registry entries that are safe to be modified/removed, I use it all the time and have not had a problem yet.

Uninstall AnyDVD and reboot (restart the computer)

"Run Cleaner, select the "Issues" button on the right and select "Scan for Issues" when it finishes scanning select "Fix Selected Issues", then "Fix All Selected Issues". You should be prompted to create a backup just incase you want to undo all the fixes, create the backup then have it fix all the issues it finds.

reboot (restart the computer) and install the current version of AnyDVD, reboot the computer then reapply the key for AnyDVD.

Found the problem I think. When I was on the slysoft site, I read
a post on another forum that I wanted to print out. The print
our had blank places in it where there had been words. In the
middle of the night it occurred to me that I was only get a partial
download. So today I uninstalled my ISP software and reinstalled.
After that I tried to update to 6.1.0.0 and it went just fine.
Something had corrupted the ISP software and there was no indication
of that until I tried to print something.
Since then I printed out this page-so I could get a copy of your
instructions for ccleaner. After I've had some sleep I will try
this program.
Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it. I learn so
much everytime.

Well I was wrong. Now there is another problem. When I booted up
my computer it said it didn't recognize the #2 Drive, push F1 to
continue. After pushing F1 the computer boots to the desk top
and a square comes up from AnyDVD saying it doesn't recognize
the DVD drive and with 4 possible causes.

I followed your instructions to uninstall AnyDVD, reboot, run
ccleaner, etc. Process went fine except when I reboot I get
this message immediately on a black screen:
Drive 2 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-O (PRI IDE Master)
F1 to continue, F2 run set up utility
I pressed F1 and booted to my desktop. This is the message I
get there: Warning! No DVD drive detected! Possible reasons:
1. You don't have a DVD drive, buy one. 2. You haven't rebooted your
system after AnyDVD has been installed. Please restart your computer.
3. You External DVD drive is not powered on or is not properly
connected. 4. There is a problem initialising the AnyDVD driver. If this is the case, try this Uninstall AnyDVD Reboot Install Any DVD
Reboot.
1. I have a D drive which is a dvd burner, and an e drive which
is a dvd reader. 2. I've rebooted everytime. 3. I don't have
an external DVD Drive. 4. I did all that and used the ccleaner
as you instructed.
Went through everything again and it is all working. My question
is-is there a way to check and make sure the Key ended up in the
registry? I had forgotten how to do that. I'm not sure if I have
the key in the registry or am on a 21 day trial period. Don't
want to do this again in 3 weeks.
