Yeah, This DVD is becoming the bane of my existence. I have the Region 1 Release, and tried:
1) DVD Shrink - Can't Read the Disc
2) DVD Fab - Again, can't get disc information
3) Latest AnyDVD and CloneDVD - Clone chokes while trying to "repair" the disk
4) DVD Decrypter - Works, but DVD Shrink can't open the files, nor wil Vob Blanker open the files because (99 VTS exceeded)

I am currently trying RI4M to see if that fares any better. The sad thing is, even with the purchased DVD, Nero show time can't read it to play on my computer. So much with paying for something you can use...

Make no mistake of it, it's on my hdd and waiting to be burned as movie only but still... lol

Like I said, I'm kinda disappointed that slysoft isn't on this yet. I hope what someone said isn't true (that maybe they're running into legal trouble [even though they're overseas] which is why they haven't updated this yet).

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

During the last week, James over at CDfreaks.com has been updating in betas for various issues. I'm up to 6.1.1.1 now. Still doesn't fix Saw 3.

Sorry... the above post was for a full disc rip, and not a movie only rip.

OK Thanks. I had AnyDVD on 3 of my systems but my Notebook (Which is my newest and best computer I have) won't even recognize the dang DVD. Thankfully my older one does. Won?t play it, but at least it recognizes it! Hope they figure this one out soon?.. Thanks again?.

I GOT IT!!
FINALLY AFTER MANY HOURS OF STRESS I GOT THE MOVIE ON A 4.7GB -R
"movie only" but who cares, at least it works! This is what do! Follow carefully because there is a few steps to this process!
1/ Use RIPIT4ME which automatically uses DVD Decrypter with it. When you open RI4M it says it can not work properly with AnyDVD. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IT ON THOUGH! If you turn off AnyDVD RI4M stops at 11%. Leave AnyDVD on and it will go to the end. When RI4M is done it askes you about removing protected cells and other options. DO NOT DO SO>> Hit the skip button and get out of there. SAY SKIP OR NO to the VTS also!
2/ Now you have a folder with your files that is over 7GB. Shrink will still not except it! Take those files and decrypt them with DVDFAB DECRYPTER! WHEN YOU OPEN DVDFAB DECRYPTER YOU MUST HIT "MOVIE ONLY" BUTTON ON THE LEFT! Thats the only option that works. Once dvdFAB decrypter is complete it created a folder called "main menu" with all of your files. Shrink will still not accept SOOO
3/ OPEN with Clone dvd. When you open with clone dvd you must open the "main menu" file that you just created with dvdfab decrypter and add whats inside there. It you add main menu folder it will not work. OPEN THAT UP AND ADD WHATS INSIDE! That works. It will shrink your file to fit a 4.7GB -R. I used Nero to burn it to my disc.
MOVIE PLAYS PERFECT with excellent sound and picture! Enjoy!

I watched from start to finish the whole movie from my 4.7GB -R!

Follow those steps carefully and you will succeed. AnyDVD Version 6.1.0.7 was used.(get free 21day trial) I believe this is the newsest version. I did not use the newest version of clone dvd (free 21day trial) but I am sure the newest one will work just as good! dvdfab decrypter is free, DVD Decrypter is free which works with ripit4me, also free!

I know a lot of people won't believe this but I have always used this as a last resort. I put Saw 3 in and start DVD Xcopy Express and it copied the movie only. I also run AnyDVDWhat used to be one of the best programs ever still works. It just has the annoying Backup screen. Just thought I would let others know that my original copy of DVD Xcopy did the job.

I ran it through ripit4me, it was waiting to be transcoded with Shrink but I refuse to make a copy of the entire disc loaded with the encryptions that reduce the quality of the picture.

By the time RI4M gets through with it the copy protection is "cleaned" out, removed, kaput. When it's opened in Shrink with the quick analysis, you should be able to shut down Shrink and use the files in any recording or editing program you like. That's what RI4M is all about, removing the copy protection and cleaning up the files so they will work.

I just tried my copy, well I guess it had to happin sooner or later, but it's a no go for me with AnyDVD and clone, all are updated, also to packman, there is plenty there, as you can see on this thread I'm not the only one having this problem using AnyDVD and clone, even though a couple did crack it, and like I said all are up to date, this is the first time I have not been able to crack a movie using clone and AnyDVD.

I did look at binkies method, but she must have a different version of saw3, the titles are different than mine unless its another movie altogether, dont know.

Anyway, as soon as you try and eliminate the menus you get an error message with clone, says it tries to repair sectors or whatever, after about 9% it stops with the unsuccefull info, on mine its title 7, 15, 16 & 17 that causes clone to stop with that error message, I got rid of all the other unnecessary ones and kept those four hoping the error message would not come back, than its starts copying ok at first till like at 2% than that same error message comes up, go figure, I'm no where near an expert like most of these guys here but hopefully AnyDVD fixes this with an update even though its clone thats coming up with the error message.

And last, I was suprized, I thought this was a sony movie, its lionsgate, looks like there all getting in on the throw crap at us methods.

error, clone said trying to repair dvd structure not sectors, sorry, also what I failed to mention before, that saw3 takes a long time to load up, the little AnyDVD fox stays pink for a long time before it turns red and loads up, this also never happined to me before, I always use my dvd rom to read, than tried my writer drive just in case, same thing, just hoping its not a bad dvd, plays fine on my 3 dvd players.

I tried DVD Shrink alone, invallid dvd navigation error. Enabled AnyDVD 6.1.0.7 and shrink said no disc in the drive. I had to erase the temp files,it then recognized the original disc and still Invallid navigation error.

I left AnyDVD enabled, and tried using dvd decrypter's file mode and got it onto the harddrive and shrink errored out.
I tried a DL blank and ripping in Mode ISO read and got stuck at around 8% of the ripping.

I then searched one of the Saw 3 threads and a member said AnyDVD 6.1.0.7 and Nero recode2 done the trick. It worked for me and another awesome backup in 18 mins-Main movie only.

That's pretty weird that recode/anydvd worked and not anydvd/dvd shrink.

I've been reading through the various replies about the problem copying Saw 3 and I've saw that RipIt4Me has had results. I have never used this program before and if it isn't to much trouble could someone provide me with step by step instructions on how to actually get this to work. Screenshots aren't a must.....I can follow written instructions pretty well :)

I have the following softare DVDDecrypter, DVDShrink, VobBlanker, FixVTS & Nero along with the RipIt4Me.

If step-by-step instructions has already been given could someone kindly point me in the right direction?

Thanks so much for your help!

this is how i did it
put saw 3 in drive
make sure you have the latest ripit4me and the latest FixVTS1.603
then start ripit choose the one click method and let it go
it will come up with some errors about patching some files but the file errors are in files that are not needed after this the program will open DVD Shrink and from here you can choose make an image or burn right to disk total time for me was prolly 1 to get it ripped and fixed then another hr to shrink and burn
only cause i using up my old 4x blank dvds to get rid of them
