It might be why some people are getting more errors than others.

dolfie
You need to get with Mr Pink. ;)
The easy way is still RI4M. A lot of people are waiting on AnyDVD to do an update. They've got a 6.1.1.1 beta being tested.

I'm well on my way to a full disc back up. Woohoo! lol.

I only suffered about 2 hours worth of heartache.

Here's my response to someone asking how long it took to rip:

Quote:
To rip it with VOBB, full disc mind you, it was about normal. Sorry, I didn't pay attention to time but Friends was on so figure about 30 minutes, give or take a few. Remember, I blanked all the trailers loaded on the disc, plus all the warnings, and studio animations. So, technically, it should be shorter than RI4M.

Like I said, Shrink opened, analyzed, and is now encoding. Encoding time is short; ~35 minutes. I also used Menushrink because, frankly, I don't need 6 minutes worth of menus. I like animated menus, but not if it's 6 minutes lol.

Shrink is almost done encoding and after it's burned, I'll put it in the player and run it through. I'll post the results.

Ok Everyone I have the soluton (MENU+MOVIE+SUBTITLES) tested and working.

I used AnyDVD 6.1.0.7 + CloneDVD2 2.9.03 rip movie in normal way.
after ripping to hard drive Open Titlewriter 3.0 click Green button and load saw 3. click yes to import menus. now Click on Dvd Menus and select set Dvd First Menu. Now close Titlewriter and open Pgcedit
8.4.2.11 Click on first Disk Icon (Open Dvd) find your movie once movie is loaded click no to the number of streams window. abort find bovs and close window. now click on PGC button towards the top left choose VTS_01_0.IFO: VTS1 select TTN1. double click the first command and click by type at the top select link to chapter(linkptt)
make sure the jump to chapter in the window now is 1 click ok. now delete all other pre commands under the one you just changed. repeat for post commands. cell commands should only have a NOP command no others. now click on PGC toward the top left again and choose VTS_08_0.IFO:VTS 8 select TTN 1. change the first command to the same as we did before (linkptt chapter 1) change line 4 command to goto line 23. change line 11 to same as 12 except program should be 1
now change the first line in post commands to goto line 23. click the button to save (Disk inside of folder). Test in media player And

ENJOY:) :)

i hope it works for you mr pink, i really do. i dont know why your VobBlanker wouldnt open the movie, it did mine just fine. I have the whole full movie and I didnt use anything else but what I said before. Im watching right now. I of course took out the warnings of the movie using the blanker, but the movie looks great. I dont know whats the big deal with the movie, is it really that hard to burn? im sorry for those of you who are having trouble with the movie, hopefully it'll all be solve soon and you can have your copy made as well =0)

Hey guys, Ive been reading this thread for about 4 days now, and I need to thank all of you, with your help I've been able to back up my saw 3 and open season with no problems...ripit4me is the solution. Slysoft is lagging on this one.

Yeah I also Burned it perfectly...with all the extras and everything....but there is one problem...
After burning it and play it on my dvd player, it kind of skips in the beginning....when it's showing the lions gate logo...those grinding gears...and also if i try to skip chapters there, it goes back to that "black warning sign..."...but i could fast foward it all the way to the movie main title...but is there anyway to fix this problem....?

[/quote]I know it's not a race, but with RI4M and DVDCopy 5 I did the whole thing in 50 minutes. Good quality and full dvd.

I'll run it through RB Pro later and that usually takes about 90 minutes.

After several mistakes, I sucessfully burned SawIII.
Must use Ripit4me latest version, 1.64 along with FixVTS1.6.0.3
If you don't have both, find thread in this forum to INSTALL Ritit4me. This will install both in same directory. Also, for smooth automatic ripped and burning make sure to have DVD Shrrink and DVD Decryptor installed.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...START RIPIT4ME, THEN INSERT DISC.
Then follow directions. I did this in 1click mode and used FixVTS at the end when requested. Voila!
Thanks to all th others from whom I geaned all the necessary info.

Only the older final version of VOBB didn't open the movie. 2.1.2.0. The beta 4 of 2.1.3.0 worked just fine.

I didn't lose much time over this (thankfully). Initially, yeah, I was taken aback by how much was on this disc. My DVD player programs on my desktop (WinDVD and Nero Showtime) wasn't even able to play it! AnyDVD 6107 couldn't rip it, and apparently, it couldn't decrypt it since VOBB couldn't even open it. DVDFab didn't recognize the disc either.

From there, I went to Ripit4me, with the latest fixVTS, and I successfully ripped the entire disc to the HDD. I didn't want to burn it because according to other members here, I would have been able to burn the main movie. I like my full discs (minus the trailers, warnings, music videos etc.).

The AnyDVD and VOBB betas seem to work. Up yours to Lionsgate! At least I only lost about 2 hours of my life. lol

Mr Pink
The files you get from RI4M are completely cleaned and compliant when you use FixVTS. When RI4M opens the files in Shrink, they're ready to edit, record or do whatever you want. It's no different than having ripped an old DVD with DVD Decrypter. So at that point you could open the files in whatever software you want and transcode or encode the files how you want.

FYI,

I tried Saw 3 with RI4M 1.6.4.0 and FixVTS 1.6.0.2 The first time and it didn't work. Then I downloaded the latest version of CloneDVD 2 and it allowed me to rip the movie itself.

While reading I downloaded the latest version of FixVTS 1.6.0.3 and ran the whole DVD again with RI4M with with the new fixVTS and it went through just fine.

I did not know that! Good looking ;) This was the first time I used Ripit4me.

But I just did the full disc backup. From the other Saw thread:

Quote:
Successful backup via AnyDVD beta 6111 and then VOBB beta 4 2130. With AnyDVD running, I ripped the entire disc (minus trailers, FBI/commentary warnings) and blanked everything else (the 99 vts cells etc). After that was done, I used Shrink to transcode and burned a successful copy with Img Burn.

After all the trailers, and other crap I don't want were blanked, and all the unnecessary audio streams left out, the final compression rate was about 78%, which isn't bad considering it's a fully functional disc, and NOT just the main movie.

I just did the same as CD0728, and I am able to burn just the Main Move of SAW 3. Hopefully DVDFAB will have an update for there software in a day or so, and then we should be able to get the whole DVD.

thank you.
the reason why you cant burn saw 3 is because its a duel layer cd you can only burn single layers but if you can find a burning program you can get it burned i used 123 clone a dvd and it burned so try to find that on the web your best bet is to go to ask jeeves.com and find it best luck to you

Everything you need for RipIt4Me is free, and it works now. You do need to update the FixVTS to 1.6.0.3. The FixVTS download is in Software here at AD Read the guide (small) and give RI4M a try. Be sure to have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed before using the RI4M installer (which installs FixVTS along with the RI4M). http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html

Once the copy protection is "cleaned" the files can be burned to DL or transcoded/encoded to DVD5. Other than the copy protection this DVD is no different than others to backup.

DVD Decrypter doesn't do it for me as well...even when going through RIPit4ME.

Locks up at about 11%.

Tried a different disc and same thing.

Unsure of where to go from here, but currently attempting various methods. Will post back l8r if a solution is found on my end.

Around 10% and 11% is where you start running into a lot of bad sectors (copy protection sectors). I'm currently (meaning right now) using ripit4me 1.6.4.0 w/FixVTS v1.6.0.3 and it delayed awhile around that location while it inserted dummy bad sectors. If yours isn't inserting dummy sectors in those spots, then your software didn't read the copy protection correctly, or ripit4me didn't import them correctly into dvddecrypter.

Yes, all the settings in both RipIt4Me 1.6.4.0 and the updated FixVTS 1.6.0.3 are set correctly, but after RIPIt4Me gets the job done and moves on to DVD Decrypter the problems begin at around 11% rip.

After a year + of various tried and true methods....including VOB, AnyDVD, DVDFab, DVD Decrypter, R4ME, VTS, etc., with rarely any major problems, this one is proving to be a bit of a beast. Initially, Underworld Revolution caused a stir, but I knocked it out after several attempts and updates.

Still on the prowl......

Up till recently I used AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter and processed with FixVTS as needed. It was a sure thing until I ran into Talladega Nights. Saw 3 is just more of the same. The extra bad VTS have some software acting up. That's what was happening with RI4M before the FixVTS update. I ran Saw 3 through RI4M with FixVTS processing selected. About 30 minutes later (without an error) I had the cleaned files for a Full DVD backup. I have the logs if anyone is interested. DVD Decrypter only slowed down for inserting Dummy Sectors and RI4M blanked them in the cleanup. Slysoft and the others will probably catch up pretty soon, but the freebie (RI4M) won out on the latest copy protections.

OK since there are 2 versions of SAW III out there, DVDFab Decrypter 3060Beta can't touch the "UNRATED EDITION" (US, Region 1). Fengtao is awared of it and he's trying to fix this as we speaks, so a new beta should be on the way real soon.

The above is my RipIt4Me log -- I ripped it earlier this afternoon. It took me 28 minutes long to successfully completed ripping and processing via FixVTS.

For god sake, this is not a joke - definitely "SAW III: UNRATED EDITION" is not your typical DVD to be ripped and backup... there are freaken 99 VTS? Inevitably, this is NOT a joke at all -- freaken SONY is getting more and more nastier now-a-days.

Despite of all those corrupted vts, sectors, unreferenced cells and especially SONY, RipIt4Me is the winner in the end, and once again it (RipIt4Me) ripped SAW III: UNRATED EDITION flawlessly.

Since I enjoyed SAW III as much as SAW (Part 1), I had to encode with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 via 3 PASSES VBR. All I gotta say is "damn Sony..."

Welcome to the real world of DVD editing and I highly suggest newbies should start learning how to use PgcEdit, DVDRemake Pro, MenuShrink or IFOEdit or at least VobBlanker. Best of luck to all and happy burning.
