Thank you both soo much... You helped me immensely with your tips. I ended up deleting the commentary by waldorf and statler aka the director and film crew peanut gallery audio lol.

Just one more question to follow up on your answers...

Is there a rule of thumb about not letting the menu & extras compression not to go below a certain % ??
@ aabbccdd,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I realized when you replied I forgot in my answer/question to include what compression % not to go below in what part of the dvd.

I meant with the extras & menus is there a general rule of thumb not to let it go below a certain % as in some of the menus/extras it's maxed and can not go any lower than say 54.5%, and some still have room to go below %50 to about 38%

aabbccdd,

dvdclone2 and AnyDVD has not worked for me with saw 3. I lost about 4 or discs. AnyDVD does not fix everything. sure you can play the movie, however all the features are not linked right. watch the special features, it will not return to the main menu, it will start to play previews, it was making me go crazy.

I'd say about 45 to 50%, but like I pointed out, when you get to that level, the return is minimal to the main movie (at least in most cases).

I guess we were. ;) I thought it was early though. I guess it depends on the point of reference (recent sleep and time zone in this case, LOL).

@jw2

This doesn't sounds right, you should of have DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 instead. Plus your DVD Decrypter didn't even ripped at all. You may need to redownload DVD Decrypter and reinstall again. The below is my RipIt4Me log and yours should be something identical to that once RipIt4Me is completed.

thanks for the reply, and youre right, i was thinking that i could map the decrypter and shrinker to my AnyDVD and CloneDVD programs, i was thinking that would take care of it, turns out i needed dvddecypter in order for ripit4me to be functional, after dl'ing the dvddecrypter, i was able to run it with no problems....appreciate you taking the time to help me decipher the ripit4me log.

I guess after I ripped it to the hard drive it was much easier. I used ripit4me, fixvts and clonedvd2 and I ended up with a perfect backup. I am going to experiment with the slysoft software again to try to find out what I am doing wrong because everyone is telling me it works.

Slysoft AnyDVD email me back and said they do not have a fix for saw3,only by deleting the bad title set manually, all other programs such as dvdfab,DVD Decrypter do this movie fine on the fly,but AnyDVD does not even 6.1.1.4

Thanks for everyone's help last night in burning S3. Now I have a new problem. LOL jeez it doesn't get easy does it??

Anywho, here's the question/problem. I thought that by some of the burns I was making coasters of S3 & TCM-TB Chainsaw Massacre the newest one... it turns out it wasn't me making coasters it's actually my dvd standalone player.

I use Verbatim DVD+R 4.7 (Where the Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 8x, 12x, 16x) Media with an HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H20L S853 (ATA) as a burner. I flashed the burner from s740, to the current firmware s853. And after doing so my burner was able to back up my dvds quicker (I only burn backups at 8x & no higher) to confirm it was my standalone player I downloaded CDSpeed by Nero and received all green blocks from a one of my backups when I scanned it.

To resolve the issue I am looking at purchasing a new dvd player since some can be purchased for $19.99+. And also I purchased 6 spindles of Verbatim media because it worked on a few back ups before, so I trusted them plus after reading AD & other dvd forums their media is top of the line. Generally which company supports verbatim for you for your backups without ever having a problem??

Again sorry to be so detailed but trying to provide as much info as possible in advance to help out.

Thanks once again

P.S. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions that might work that would be awesome!

More like which company doesn't? Philips makes a good inexpensive player, though not for $19. By the way, who made your Verbatim? Try DVD Identifier (just Google) and let us know what you have. It's not a big deal with newer players, but having a burner that will booktype to DVD ROM helps with compatibility with older players.

rick1951 thanks for believing me about AnyDVD. Everybody was telling me that AnyDVD works great. I was about to reoload my computer and all software. I hope slysoft can find a fix for this.

There are two ways to copy Saw 3, please review either of the two following links for a how-to guide and download/update any necessary programs.

Option a

Option b

Hope this helps and good luck.

Anydvd does not work with saw 3. dvdfab has a decripter built on board. Infact when you run dvdfab is asks you if you want to close AnyDVD. Running dvdfab disables AnyDVD even if you tell it not too.
dvdfab did all the work on saw 3, I am sorry to say. I have been playing around with dvdfab too...it is very decieving because you think that AnyDVD is working properly.

Ok here is what I got. I used AnyDVD (the latest version) and ripped it to my hd. I then used DVD Shrink to shrink it. I then used Nero to burn the movie. When I used Nero it told me that there MIGHT be some problems but I continued and when I was done I gave it to my son to watch it and let me know if there were any problems and he said that the movie was great!....

I think everyone has gotten tired of Saw 3. It's got heavier copy protection, but it's do-able now. There's 27 pages of help here. Take a look at the RipIt4Me tutorial on page 16. Most of the main players in decryption software are up to speed by now. So use the latest versions of the software.

Here's my two cents worth. I successfully copied Saw III using the following: AnyDVD 6.1.1.4. CloneDVD 2.9.0.3. (full 8.5gb disc)
I then compressed it with Nero Recode 2 using the Advanced Analysis and High Quality Mode options. The movie turned out beautifully. I only ripped titles 8 - 10 - 12 though. I realize to some that's not a full rip but I usually don't care for extras anyway (especially all the trailers on Sony DVDs)

Anyone else ever try using Nero Recode with the advanced analysis and high quality modes checked? I recommend it.

I did the same with RIPIT4ME a week ago. I just had to try and renew my faith in Slysoft.

The MCC, along with TY, are Verbatim's top of the line media. Just so happens those are MIJ (made in Japan). Verbatim also sells, or has sold, media manufactured by companies with less impressive track records.

I had a hard time ripping Saw 3. Finally I used the latest version of DVD FabDecrypter and used Nero Recode2 to shrink and burn movie. Came out perfect with extra menus.

@ Pacman 777;

Wow really, that's good to know thatthey are top of the line...

Just a question though; how do I search for the best compatibility with my media to decide on which standalone DVD player to purchase to view my backups. Is there some webpage, or database?? - as right now I'm watching it on my Ps2. =(
