I would love to post pictures from my own Wii but I got that sucker back together and it is working so I am going to leave it be sorry.

For some good news, I got my idea from a website, so I can not really take full credit for this method of installation. I did modify the instruction because I did it in a different order and did not put a wire on the circle cut out.

They show doing the 2 wires on the wii for the circle cut outs and then soldering them to the wiikey. I found this made it really hard to solder the 4 points on the edge of the wiikey, So I soldered all four wires to the wii first (for the edge mounts) then put the wiikey on the wii and soldered the wires to it. Then I just quick soldered the 2 circle cut outs.

This is how they did it:

Not many modchip sites accept paypal, because well paypal has banned modchip sales.

I would be careful ordering from modchip places that do claim to accept paypal, because they always run the risk of getting their accounts frozen at any time. And that could mean a nightmare for you when it comes to getting your product/ money back.

Accepts money order orders, phone orders, COD (in canada & i think the US) in addition to credit cards..

Also ordering with a credit card provides you with 180days protection against fraud / defective merchandise. Paypal has a lame 30day protection policy.

Why do you favour it over credit card payments, aside from entering your billing address?

How come its hard? Billing address different then shipping? Different countries?

International?

If its a billing address/international issue, perhaps you should confirm with your credit card company what exact address they have on file for you. Also make sure they allow international transactions from US / CANADA on your card.

Those could be the reasons you would have problems when ordering from sites w/ your credit card

It seems to be more popular then the cyclowiz. Ive seen both and the WiiKEY is much thicker and looks like its built better.

It also seems the WiiKEY is updated more, and Ive heard the demand for these chips is 10:1 compared to the Cyclowiz

Do not get a Cyclowiz. I wasted my money on it. Yes it works. But it only lets the disk spin no more than 4x. Causing some games not to work such as call of duty 3. Also some of the games when they would have a movie scene. It would studder like crazy. I did a wire install b/c I knew I would already get the wiikey when my preorder came in. I got the wiikey in thursday. Snipped the wires off the cyclowiz and resoldered with the wiikey. First thing I tried was call of duty 3. Played perfect. Just like all the other games where they were studdering with the cyclowiz. The wiikey played them fine. Wiikey is probally one of the best out right now so if you plan on getting one. Get that. Dont waste your money on the cyclowiz as they have been promising updates but havent done crap yet. The wiikey is actually upgradable also using a dvd without having to solder more wires like the cyclowiz. Not like it matters b/c cylcowiz doesnt even have any updates yet.

No, mine was the first version. It was also a defected one where A,B,C were all joined together. I had to cut them to fix them instead of waiting to send it back. I also have one of the Dma chips since I got my wii in Nov. Not sure if the version 2 is better though. Maby it is. But since wiikey is out now. I'd go with that one. The only reason I got the cyclowiz was b/c the winja was sold out everywhere and wiikey wasnt coming out for a couple of weeks. I also recomend NOT using the so called quick solder method. Using 30 gage wire, that you can get at radio shack. Its alot easier and you can also remove it without any problems if something were to go wrong. But thats my opinion.

I dont have a pic of mine. But it looks similar to this except I used some red colored wire. That is where I placed the chip to with some electrical tape on top and bottom of the chip. I have only soldered one time before in my life and that was a xbox modchip but that was alot bigger easier than the wii. All I had to do was snip the wires since I already had a cyclowiz installed and solder them to the chip and I was done. When I installed the cyclowiz though. The easisest way was to solder all the wires onto the chip itself first. Then go ahead and get a really small ball of solder to stick onto the end of your solder gun. Then all I had to do was hold the wire onto where it was getting soldered on the dvd drive. And just touch the ball of solder onto the dvd drive for a half sec and that was it. Just gotta be extra careful so the solder doesnt spill somewhere on the board you dont wont it to be cause that could cause trouble.

So you would say installing the WiiKEY and CycloWIZ is pretty straight forward and not complex as say a ps2 chip install.

Soldering isnt my strong suit, but I think Ill give this a try if its as easy as it sounds/looks :)

Also I've noticed others mentioning the WiiKEY give DRE errors on some GC Backups, is this true?

Im havent tried any GC backups personally with the wiikey so im not sure how it works. But Wii games are fine so far for me. The soldering is pretty easy. Just really really small points you have to solder. Its only like 6 points though which was nothing.

Apparently CycloWIZ just released their v3.0 Firmware.. Ive heard rumors this wasnt what most people expected, and that it has damaged some peoples systems.

Has anyone tried this update yet? Any input on it would be much appreciated :)

I assume you would have to get some to test it up. But perhaps I am wrong.

I think there is some sort of DVD setup you could try to run and see what happens. Its in the DL section of wiikey.cn

I've successfully installed wiikey and played backup games.

However, here is the problem. When I play my original game (such as wii sport), the system runs quite normal without much loud noise or vibration. When I play backup game such as Red Steel or Zelda, the system runs much louder and vibrate a lot more.

Anyone experience this problem with wiikey or other mod-chip?

Is it a bad installation or this is something you would expect with mod-chip?

Please share your experience and your feedback.

Other ppl are saying burning at 4x or 6x may be better for wii. I burned at 2x, maybe that is causing wii to run louder and more vibration.

or is it simply i got a bad wiikey?

Burn speed has nothing to do with vibration. Make sure you put all the screws back into the dvd drive. I forgot the top 3 the first time I took my wii apart and put it back together. With my wiikey. I dont notice any difference in vibration or sound. As long as its playing backups. Theres nothing wrong with the chip. My fan works fine also.
