I was about to buy a WiiKey but I think I'll wait for this new one.
Any ETA on it?

I just installed my Wiikey today and haven't even hooked it up yet to try a disc. I wanted to make sure that the wiikey is just "plug and play". Before popping in a backup disc, do I need to install anything like firmware, setup disk, etc....? Or is it as easy as plug and play and I can start enjoying all of my backup games?
Also, is the setup disk provided by wiikey even necessary? or is it just a bunch of stuff not really needed?

ok this is what you need to do, you need to get connected if you are not, to the internet on you wii to get the latest firmware..ima break it downn
Main menu choose Wii options in the bottom left
Choose Wii Settings on the right
Goto the third page
Select the third item down
It will ask to connect to the internet, say yes (on the left)
It will test connection and download the update
If i were you i would use the setup disk, this case you can play more games, on the cout of the region free thing on it.
to be region free put the disk in wii go to the menu of the setup disk and clik region free..alowing you to play more PAL NTSC/U and NTSC/J.

You all should note XECUTER is NOTORIOUS for delaying new products for LONG LONG PERIODS of time. I wouldnt expect to see this chip on the market for another 2 - 3 months perhaps even longer.
Ive had alot of experience with Xecuter over the last 4+ years and this new Wiip chip will be like all their other new products, delayed....
Dont get me wrong, its probably going to be an excellent chip, but for those of you that are saying ahh Ill not mod my wii yet and wait for xecuter's wiip, be prepared to WAIIIITTTTT aLOOOOOOOOOOOONG time :)

because i just had a bad wiikey install, and i dont want to spend like £50 on wiikey and installation just to remove it after one or two months. I got quite a few originals to keep me busy during my summer holiday and a ps3 so its kl
Or i can use the wiikey fom the bad install which is perfectly fine for now, then get a professional to uninstall it and install the wiip v2
thanks from opening up my mind again trm32 lol

I would have to agree with FEOD..
Until some REAL SPECS and a REAL CHIP comes out from XECUTER the WIIKEY is the way to go.
All WIIKEY needs now is an update :)

Hello party ppl! So after reading this thread i am still not sure which modchip to get. I dont own Wii yet, i will buy it with chip installed on it already, so the installation part does not rly bother me. The simple question is which of the following chips should i get and why?
Wiinja V2
Wiinja Deluxe
WiiKey
Cyclowiz V2
I have a modded ps2, does the process of getting games onto Wii differ alot to process of getting games on modded ps2?

I would personally recommend the WiiKey, because of the huge following and amount of users that have this chip. It is by far the most popular wii chip out there, and its safe to assume it would be easier to get support and questions answered regarding the wiikey, then all the other chips available.

I'm using the Cyclowiz and the Wiikey, and both works great!!! My NTSC English and NTSC Japanese games works like a charm. For those who think you have to update thru WiFi, don't bother, get your Wii moded and then pop in Big Brain Wii Academy, the game itself has updates and can update your system without going on-line

Whatever you buy, don't buy from modchipcentral.com, unless you don't want to actually receive your chip.

Really, they ripped you off? You should contact wiikey.cn and let them know their resellers are robbing you. Also you should contact your credit card company and dispute the charges.
Ive never had problems with http://www.americanxboxmodchips.com/wiikey.htm they usually ship fast and well they dont rob you, which is a bonus :)
I wish you luck in getting back your money or a product.

No, haven't been ripped off yet. But somehow, some way, the shipment for one day was lost in the mail! So, now I have to wait until they sort everything out. So, I'm not expecting it anytime soon.
I should've just waited until fall, by then, I'm sure other chips will be available. Which is about the time I'm expecting them finally get around to sorting this out. No one at modchipcentral responds. Finally, after almost 3 weeks they put a msg on their
web about it.

Wow that is awful. They should resolve this for you now, it doesnt take the post office 3 weeks to determine if its lost or not.
Also postal shipments from CANADA to the US really suck and customs tends to F with things for awhile... especially new fancy Wii MODCHIPS...
well if this doesnt get resolved for you by the first week of july, I would suggest disputing your order and going with another reseller.

I really want to do the mod to my wii. The only problem I have is which modchip to get. I am in the US so I would assume I am using NTSC versions of the games, unless games are different that DVDs.
So what is the best all around chip right now? And is it able to update so I will be able to play online games in the future? Because I know microsoft could detect modded xbox's and banned those from XBL.

If you have one of the new wii's its highly recommended you have a professional install a chip for you. You have to sand or disolve away apart of a chip on the Wii Drive... Its not your basic installation...
I would recommend a WiiKEY they are great chips, but again I would recommend you have a professional install this for you.

Not completely sure... Ive spoke with a couple installers.. some stay you can determine, from manufacturing date / serial number. But they also claim that sometimes that way is not so reliable. The only sure complete way to tell if you have a new HARD TO MOD wii is opening it up and looking at the DRIVE board...
You need a TRI-WING screw driver for this. I would recommend purchasing a WiiKEY + a Tri-wing from http://www.americanxboxmodchips.com/wiikey.htm
If you add the Tri-Wing tool to the wiikey order, it will put your cost before shipping over $40 and you then can apply the $10 off coupon code which is: 10off
Then when you open up your system you can determine hey this is an older wii and can be modded easily and do it yourself (after some soldering practice) or if you need to send it in to a professional for the install work to be done.
I will look into this further and see if there is a 100% positive way you can tell if you have one of the HARD TO MOD wii's without having to open it up.
