DAX files are run using DAX's zISO loader.....which is for 1.5 only...so, no...but that can be converted into cso....which will run in OE-C..

K i have the 3.1 or whatever. I have downloaded the downgrader with GTA and the 3.03 upgrader. But I have no idea how to do this. I am a complete idiot. So if anyone could take the time and do a step by step for dummies on how to do that stuff I may not brink my psp and put on the many games in ISO file I have downloaded. ( Can't afford the real games)
Thanks

That downgrader is only for 3.03 firmware so check you have 3.03 firmware.
The Un-Patched Version of GTA can only work with the downgrader as an UMD. It will not work as a back-up.

Yeah I have 3.03 and I know you need the UMD. But I don't know how to downgrade and then use the custom firmware. I need step by step.

Thanks, but I have a few questions about the instructions in the downgrader. The Instructions say this: (Questions will be in * *)
- Copy all contents inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
* First Question where is the root of my memory stick*
- Load GTA
- If the PSP freezes try again
- When you run the program, you'll see a coloured screen that can be one of two colors:
Red: the files couldn't be written to the flash (it happens a few times). Just keep trying.
Pale Blue: The files were written succesfully, and HEN is active. After that, the xmb will
be rebooted. Now you can run the homebrew in format prepared for 2.71. (see details below).
* What is a HEN and how is it active?*
* What is a xmb?*
* What does it mean when they say that I can run the homebrew in the format prepared for 2.71?*
Note that a pale blue screen will appear again every time the PSP reboots with HEN active.
- As mentioned before, the patch will remain resident in memory, and even entering sleep mode
won't delete it. Only a hardware reset will remove the program from memory.
- When you do a hardware reset, you'll have to run GTA again.
This time there will just be the pale blue screen and xmb reboot, since this time there is
no need to write to the flash.
*What is the xmb reboot and what do they mean when they say there is no need to write to the flash?*
Note: Ensure that you leave the PSP/HEN_303 and PSP/SAVEDATA directories that are used for HEN
as some of the files are used each time you enter HEN.
* Why do I end HEN? and what files are used?*
Note2: Once the program is loaded, it is independant of the memory stick contents. So you can
freely swap memory sticks.
*What program?*
*Now is it in 1.5 and now can I upgrade to 3.10OE-A?*
Thanks, I bet your pretty pissed, thinking I am an idiot, but I am going on a trip soon and games would be great.

Yeah also I have a whole bunch of ISO game files I downloaded, what custom firmware would be best? I need some simple answers on how to do all of this stuff. I have 3.03 right now. I don't have enough money to replace my PSP if I brink this one. I have the stuff to downgrade from 3.03 to 1.5 (just waiting on the UMD) and I have the files to upgrade to 3.10OE-A. The problem is I don't understand half the instructions as you can tell. So I really need some thorough, simple, step by step for idiot instruction. For all this stuff. From my 3.03 all the way to now I have an ISO file on my psp and can play it successfully
Would really appreciate any help.

What 3.03 downgrader was this? This doesn't sound like the readme that came with my 3.03 downgrader that I used and downgraded sucessfully with.

Ok thanks a lot, but I have a few questions about the instructions.
- Copy the contents of the folder MS_ROOT from the 3.03 downgrader ZIP to the memory stick
* Where in the memory stick?*
- If it is showing up as HEN then go to the memory stick and
run the x.yz update
*What is the x.yz update?*
Load the included NetConfigBackup application in your PSP, and select to restore, this will take the backup that was done of the network config that was done automatically during the downgrade.
* How do you do this? (If I need to)
Thanks

Good day, all.
Ok, so after going over the various posts, I want to repeat out loud what I need to do; so as to make sure I understood everything correctly.
I have firmware version 2.5. I have GTA:LCS (eboot friendly version). And I have a .cso file.
In order to use it, I need to follow a link to downgrade to 1.5. And then upgrade past 3.03, immediately to 3.10. Correct?
Once this is done, place the .cso into a newly created .iso file in the main directory, and I should be able to play it by simply choosing it from my mem stick under "Games". Also correct?
If all of the above are true, then my thanks to you all, and my final question would be...
Will the upgrade render my old emulators useless? (gbc, nes, snes, sms)
Again, thank you all for your time.

To Purdymike
After you have plugged your PSP into your PC, go into your PSP Drive and the first folder you see now will be the "MS Root Folder". So put the files here.
The x.yz update will be under GAME after you have enabled HEN. It is needed to downgrade your PSP. It is called x.yz update but it actually doesn't update.
The NetConfigBackup application is not needed unless you don't want to enter all the Network Connection Settings. If this program doesn't load you can then just enter it all again manualy.
To Kienzen
Yes, you need to follow a link to downgrade your PSP to 1.50. But if you upgrade to an OFFICIAL firmware by SONY then you will NOT BE ABLE to play your isos/ csos. What you mean is to upgrade to a custom firmware by Dark_Alex - 3.10 OE-A
Yes, once you have successfully finished this you will have to put your cso file in the ISO folder so that you can play it under GAME.
No, But instead of having your emulators in the GAME folder. You will nedd to put them in the GAME150 folder.

Your concise responses are greatly appreciated.
Two final questions for you (or any equally knowledgeable individual):
1. How do I know which link for the dwngrd-1.5/upgrd-3.10 are trustworthy and reliable?
2. Is there much in the way of reported problems with this firmware "adjusting"?
Please advise. Thanks.l

This Dude,
R u saying that I should replace the file "PSP" which is the first file you see with MS Root Folder?
Do I enable HEN by doing all that stuff before it mentions the x.yz update?

2.50 to 1.50 Easy Downgrader:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/605
And no.
To PurdyMike
Yeah, when you drag the files in there it will say do you want to overwrite. Just choose Yes and it will put NEW files there but won't delete the existing files.
Yes, HEN will be enabled before it mentions the x.yz update.

Okay,
So I used Dark Alex's dg to 1.5 (from my 2.5), deleted everything on my memory card first (as instructed), waited for it to cut off, and now when I power it on, nothing happens. The power light is on, but nothing appears on the screen.
Um,
Help?
