PLEASE MAKE SURE TO USE THIS ONLY ON 3.03 A B C FIRMWARE...DONT WORK ON 3.10 OE DONT TRY IT ON 3.10 FIRMWAREOriginally posted by elperuano: Hello this is my first tutorial, I was looking for this information and took me 3 days, to get all the info you need to change the XMB icons of your PSP for custom made icons, so I guess maybe somebody else is looking for it ..so here we go...
In this thread i am gonna compile apps and instructions on how to fully customise your psp. Remember that if you follow the instructions carefuly you dont have to worry about bricking your psp. I strongly recommend to use them with dark alex's custom firmware installed (3.0XOE any revision) as well as testing the files with devhook before flashing them into your PSP
1.- Download from here :
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49760
the ICONZ.RAR folder and extract the files to anywhere in your PC (desktop maybe??)
2.- Create your topmenu_plugin.rco
doubleclick the topmenu.exe in the topmenu generator folder
*choose your firmware (choosing 3.02 OE will work for 3.03 OE-A')
*now choose your icons by clicking on the "browse" button and choosing the icon your want
*after you picked out your six icons, press the "create" button
*then a folder should pop up with your custom topmenu_plugin.rco
3.- Connect your PSP to your PC with the USB cable
4.- Press the R trigger and at the same time turn on you PSP, in order to work you must before take out your battery of the PSP to made sure you are coming from a hard reset and not from sleep mode
5.- You are now on recovery menu (blue background), scroll down to Advanced and press X >>> scroll down to Toggle USB (flash0) and press X >>> a box shoul pop up in your PC (removable disk)>>> open folder to view files
6.-Open vsh folder >>> open resource folder >>> drag here you newly created custom topmenu_plugin.rco , they will ask to replace say YES..when finish scroll up to back and press X , and then scroll down to exit and press X the PSP will restart and voila...new XMB icon..
NOTE - some members have reported after they created and flash their topmenu_plugin.rco that it was not the icons they choose.
*To fix this, after you have chosen your icons and pressed the "create" button on the topmenu generator, delete that topmenu_plugin.rco, and press "create" again and use the new topmenu_plugin.rco
Hope this help
GRACIAS..

@chanman1
to change font :
Download the main app from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/12269060/ttf2pgf.rar.html
100 fonts to begin with from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/12270455/My_Fonts.rar.html
Birdman1's Font Pack V11: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/906
Additional fontpacks can be found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewforum.php?id=21
If you want to install fonts from your memory stick instead of flashing them download this: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/377
First of all download the main app. Extract it and place your custom font file(*.ttf)inside ttf2pgf folder. You have to name it with a single word because if the name has underscores and stuff like that the app won't be able to convert it. Run the makefonts.bat and a new font with pgf extension will appear. Rename it to ltn0.pgf
Now if you don't want to flash it or in case you want to preview your custom fonts before installing them place ltn0.pgf inside devhook emulated firmware(place the pgf file inside ms0:\dh\[firmware testing]\f0\fonts\).Otherwise download the latest X-Flash V18k from here http://xflash.pspstuff.de/files/getfile.php?f=34&s=af67 and install it into your psp.
Place the ltn0.pgf inside ms0\PSP\GAME150\__SCE__XFLASH\XFlash\Modified
Run the app,go to number "6 INSTALL CUSTOM FONT" and press X. To restore the psp's original font press O
Just remember that some fonts will prevent the PS1 emulator from running. In that case just install one different font with the same process as above
GRACIAS..

i know that method, but xflash doesn't work on 3.03 oe-c as far as i know. i'll try it, but i just wanted to know, that if the same process for ur method of custom icons can be used as well for custom font.
EDIT: yeah, it only supports up to 3.03 oe-b. can i flash it using usb, like the icons?

Right. Somehow I wonder why Dark_AleX didn't include the custom icons. Probably in 3.10 OE-B.

The topmenu_plugin.rco is where the icons are stored in the firmware, so no you can't.

Team-Duck?s Slasher has released a new homebrew app titled Slash-N-Flash. Simply put, Slash-N-Flash is a generic tool for flashing whatever you desire to the PSP?s flash memory; a firmware modders dream come true. It?s quite wonderful having one app to manage all your customizations, kudos Slasher.
Inside of the folder SlashNFlash, there?s another folder promptly named ?folders?. You can create as many folders in this ?folders? folder as you want and configure each folder to flash a specific file. I?ve included most of the more popular flashes as examples. But please, keep in mind, you can create AS MANY FOLDERS AS YOU WANT FOR AS MANY FILES AS YOU WANT. There is no limit.
Now inside each of these folders you MUST have a last.txt(can be empty), and a destination.txt(MUST include the path of where you want the file to be flashed).
And now you can just stick all the files in each of these folders and flash them to the corresponding destination as many times as you?d like.
There is now also another option in which you can actually browse your memorystick and choose whichever files you want and flash them where you need to.
Some areas of interest if you?re looking to customize your PSP:
custom gameboots
custom boot sounds
custom fonts
custom backgrounds
custom XMB icons
custom XMB waves
Slash-N-Flash is designed to function with custom firmwares, including 3.03 & 3.10 OE. Use at your own risk.
Download: Slash-N-Flash v1
GRACIAS..

Hi, can anyone help me? I can't make my ICONS. When I press the CREATE button it always says
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immdeiately.
The system cannot find the file specified."
That's all. In the instruction mannual it says a FOLDER should pop up but mine doesn't pop up :(. That message is from "Microsoft .NET Framework". What am I doing wrong? By the way, I tried clicking on both buttons, "Continue and Quit". When I press Continue, it stays the same and nothing pops up and when I press Quit it just exit the program, Topmenu Generator v1.1. By the way again, what do you mean here . . . .
*then a folder should pop up with your custom topmenu_plugin.rco
Where will I get that my custom topmenu_plugin.rco? Is that the custom set I will be created? My main problem is the message I wrote above. Sorry, my noob question is too long :|.
I am on 3.03OE-C.

If you could send me your folder, that would be great. Thanks a lot.
I am currently using Dark_Alex's 3.03C, do you think that if I updated to his 3.10 my icons could return to normal? I just want to know for future reference while I play with the icons now.
