You can install a new drive if you have your DVD key. I'm assuming you still have that.

You should be good then with a new drive. You current one sounds dead from what you described. It's hard to say for sure without actually looking at it.

Thanks, great tutorial, I'm flashing my ms28 with 5.3fw but I'm stuck when I try to run "make xtreme firmware" command. I select speed and report as ms28. I then get a window saying
"16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."
I try selecting 'ignore' but it won't create the x53.bin file. My pc is fairly new and I'm running XP. Is there something I can change so this will work? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Got it working. It seemed to be a problem with the autoexec.nt file. This is what I did in case it happens to someone else :
1.Click Start, click Run, type C:\windows\repair, and then click OK.
2.Right-click the Autoexec.nt file, and then click Copy.
3.Click Start, click Run, type %windir%\system32, and then click OK.
4.In the System32 folder, press Ctrl + V to paste the Autoexec.nt file in this folder.
Thanks for the offer for making it for me though, I appreciate it!

I am following the tutorial on flashing ms28 Samsung, but when I get to the part where you choose (xtreme Master) the system gives me this:
Port: 1420, Master/Slave:a0
What am I doing wrong? I'm pulling my hair out over here. Any help would be much appreciated....
