The system just stays right there nothing else happens. The only keyboard button that does anything is ESC, that makes the system display:

Status = 80, should be 70
Err:USER BREAK

Please help...

Hey,

I sell backups that will function on any firmware flashed Xbox 360 regardless of version. I offer same day shipping if the game is in stock.

Ok, theres one thing I'm not clear on, I have a ms28 drive, flashed with the xtreme 5.2, I want to upgrade the firmware to Ixtreme 1.2, I have my bootable floppy ready with the hacked firmware, made using Xtreme Boot Maker, do I just read the modified firmware to the disk how I did in the first place, and write to the drive same way iswell, or do I need to put it in 0800 mode as you do with the ms25 drive?

Note: I use the VIA chipset to flash my ms28 drive through bad flash method.

I have a question mainly related to my machine more so than the 360, the flashing seems relatively easy enough. I have a cruzer 4gb usb flash drive, I installed my VIA 6241 and ran through all steps on Xtreme Boot made my bootable drive then restarted. I disabled all onboard sata drivers btw I have the ASUS Crosshair Mobo, anyways so the VIA sata PCI card is only one installed. I start my computer up if I have a SATA cable even plugged in to the main sata channel it says it is scanning for drives then says it can't find anything, so I unplug the cable and restart then it just sits on a black screen with the flashing white bar at top left as if it was trying to boot from something but never does. The flash drive is fine, I just recieved the PCI VIA 6241 card in and I am just at my wits-end as to why this will not boot from USB and why it never loads any further if i have the primary sata cable plugged in.

I would check to make sure that there are three SATA ports on your sata card. One external and two internal. The third one that needs to be connected should be internal and it is located towards the front of the PC when the card is installed. I had the same problem and it cost me two weeks of frustration. I finally got pissed off and took the card out of the PC and discovered the third port. I felt stupid!!!

I actually have 4 slots, basically this is what is happening because I STILL cannot get this thing to detect properly or flash. I have 4 slots, i saw on the card itself where port 1 is so I am ok in that regard. The only issue is to get the drive to detect I have to unplug the SATA cable and plug it back up then it sees it. Now contrary to other methods I just want to make sure that however I get it to detect is fine, like as long as it detects it good. If that is not the case please let me know. The problem lies when it is time to do the 10 sec flash rule for the ms28 it does nothing, I have tried 5sec, 10sec, 15sec, nothing works for me I do all the steps it requires me to follow but nothing. I am at my wits end on this ms28 crap, I really really really don't want to desoulder that small resistor. If someone could please give me some insight on what I'm doing wrong or what I can do to successfully get this thing flashed please help me. Thanks again. -roce

I do Samsung drives with a floppy and mtkflash. I had to set of the floppy a little different than bootmaker made it. Also I had to bang my head against the wall for a couple hours to get it a work. If you want to use a floppy maybe what I did could work for you. My PC wouldn't boot from USB either, even though I set it to do it in the BIOS.

I have a Samsung, ms28 Xbox drive that I flashed with ixtreme v1.2 I made the boot disc with iPrep 101. I did this through my onboard VIA VT8237 chipset, which worked fine. It flashed and all with no problems. However I wanna backup the few games I have by hooking the Samsung drive to the PC. I've read that with the newer firmware I wouldn't need the use of a 0800 disc and that it should detect it automatically. But my Windows XP doesn't detect the drive at all. I have the lastest drivers for VIA. The only time the drive was ever detected was during the flashing. Any suggestions?

p.s. I even ordered a VT6421 SATA PCI Card cause I've read that they're better to work with but even hooked to that it wont detect the drive.

Hello.... Im stuck !!

I flashed a ms28 about a year ago so i know my pc and via 6421 card work and understand the principles of flashing.

Due to the red ring of death I bought another 360 and am trying to flash its ms28.

I have created the floppy using xbm 0.3.6 and following the tut as on page1.

I get to the dos options and can see the Xtreme primary
I power down the 360
select the xtreme
count to 8/10/12 (tried all variations)
but when i power on the 360 to obtain my orig.bin
all i get is err:fail to open output file!

Where am I going wrong?

Id appreciate any help, I have searched the forums and cant find this example anywhere?

Best regards Donny

I had the same problem when I finally updated from xtreme 5.3 to ixtreme 1.2

I had to make a new floppy and count to about 6 to make it work. Also make sure your floppy isn't write-protected.

Another thought to consider... Make sure you don't have any other SATA PCI cards installed.

wow thanks for the swift reply

I will try a new floppy, i dont have any other PCI SATA devices just x2 IDE hard drives and a CD and a DVD burner.

The Xtremem Primary comes in as option 3.

once selected and 360 powered on I see

Reading......00%
err:fail to open output file!

I will try making a fresh floppy boot disc with XBM and will use a different FW. I have Xtreme 5.2 which is what I flashed with last year I will try that.

here goes...

Damn the new boot disc didnt make any difference.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is and perhaps I can understand where im going wrong? Its deffo an original xbox as all the seals were intact when I removed the casing.

Im only trying to get the orig.bin at this stage but cant seem to extract it as above...

Please.... Help....

Im going to sleep on it now and try again in the morning.

THANKS SINISTER !!

I went back to basics and realised I wasnt typing it in with spaces inbetween the r m and sata orig.bin commands.

Something as simple as that was stopping the process from working.

Im happy to say I have succesfully got my orig.bin and have flashed the new ixtreme rev.c for the sammy.

Once again this forum has helped me greatly..... THANKS ALL
