You need to connect the cable from wall into cable input on box then you need a scart lead not another lead scart lead only one part to the box it is marked at the back the other to the tv that could be your problem you are not using scart lead

The N*L box on the wall , the cable is in TV and goes into the cable input on the SV , then the scart goes from the Starview to the back of your TV

Im on NTL Dublin. Just after midnight last night(Sunday) all channels became 'Bad or Scrambled' I switched off and went to bed.
Don't know what its like now as I'm in work.
I flashed to V4 about a month ago, and it has autoscrolled since. Should I now move to v4.5 or am I alright to stay on v4.
What are the benefits of v4.5?

You should be OK as N** had a problem and by switching off and on your box will be OK.
Version 4.5 is only for "The Box", (Starview 2) and not a Starview 1.

When you say wall to Starview, please check that coax lead is plugged into TV part of the N** Box and not in the FM side of the N** box, (as this is where I have seen this exact fault before).
You should then plug the other end of the coax into the cable int on the back of the Starview. Your scart connection goes from TV out scart on the back of the Starview, (this will be labelled as such on the back of the SV), to any free scart connection on the back of your TV.

Noodle you have to read this and do exactly as we say first take out all the leads out of the box
Then get the lead coming from the wall only and connected to cable input on the back it says cable input on the back of the box so look at the back of it before you put it in
Next get the Scartlead only and plug this into the back of the box where it says tv
Then get the other end of the scartlead and put this into the tv slot on your tv
DO NOT PUT ANY OTHER CABLE ANYWHERE ELSE SO YOU SHOULD ONLY HAVE 2 WIRES COMING OUT OF YOU BOX ONE TO THE WALL AND THE SCART TO THE TV OK

If you do what i said in the last post you should have no problem 2 wires only from box 1 from wall to box and the other SCARTLEAD only to the tv

You should be getting 173, please check that you are plugged into the TV side of your N** box and not the FM side, (On the N** box it has FM & TV RF connectors)

YOU ARE STILL USING 3 CABLES USE ONLY 2 USE 1 CABLE FROM THE WALL AND 1 SCART LEAD NOT 2 CABLES AND A SCART LEAD YOU ARE USING 2 CABLES AND SCART WILL YOU READ WHAT WE ARE TYPING FOR YOU 2 LEADS ONLY FROM BOX
look what you have said you are using 2 leads 1 from wall to box 1 from box to tv and then scart from box to tv that is 3 wires not 2 as you have been told i dont know how many times 2 wires only

Noodle, Who's your cable provider ??. If your starview is tuning in channels, but they are "bad or scrambled" it sounds like a "key" issue.
If you can see starview menu on your tele, then your connections from starview to tele are ok, if it's scanning in 158 channels, then your cable connection is fine too. If you have NThell, you should be getting 176 channels. You need to let us know who your cable provider is, and what provider setting you use when doing an autoscan, also, it might help to let us know what general area you are in. You only need the cable from the "cable output" from the starview to the tele if you want to have basic channels on the tele also. (eg, if you want to switch off starview and still be able to watch basic channels)
Post this info........
Cable Provider
From the CAS Menu, (menu 1570) Provider ID
Key Data 00
Key Data 01
EMU on or off ??
Also, are you waiting long enough for keys to update ??
